Senior Finance and Accounting Officer (Night Shift - Remote)

Sigma Energy is a small but growing group of companies headquartered in Canada, with subsidiaries / related entities in 4 countries.We provide industrial equipment solutions, including export, sales, repairs, remanufacturing, rental, and inspection of industrial equipment and spare parts.We are looking for a Senior Finance and Accounting Officer to handle day-to-day accounting and financial planning for main group entity and couple of subsidiaries, ensure accurate reporting across entities, and prepare consolidated financial statements, forecasts, and business plans.This is a hands-on role with the opportunity to grow into a Finance and Accounting Manager position as the company expands.Role OverviewThe Senior Finance and Accounting Officer will report directly to the CEO and work closely with management across all subsidiaries. You will be responsible for maintaining accurate accounting records in QuickBooks Online and Odoo, preparing consolidated financial reports, and supporting cash flow forecasting, budgeting, and treasury management.This position is ideal for a self-driven, detail-oriented finance professional who is comfortable working independently in a multi-entity, international environment.Key Responsibilities1. Bookkeeping and AccountingMaintain accurate and up-to-date books in QuickBooks Online and Odoo for HQ entity and couple of subsidiaries.Record and reconcile bank transactions, accounts payable and receivable, and intercompany transactions.Prepare journal entries, intercompany reconciliations, and monthly closing reports.Support external accountants with year-end audits and tax filings.2. Financial Reporting and ConsolidationPrepare monthly and quarterly financial statements for each entity.Consolidate financial reports across the group and provide management reports.Perform variance analysis, cost reviews, and profitability reports for management.3. Forecasting and Business PlanningPrepare and update cash flow forecasts, budgets, and financial projections in Excel or other tools.Support management in preparing and updating the company’s business plan and preparing financial data for banks or investors.Provide insights on cost control, performance trends, and investment scenarios.4. Treasury, Cash Management and FundingTrack cash balances and intercompany fund movements.Manage supplier payments, collections, and bank reconciliations.Account receivables.Support treasury reports and ensure efficient working capital management.Prepare loan and subsidy applications to secure funding.5. Cost Control and EfficiencyMonitor project and operating expenses across entities.Identify potential cost-saving opportunities and propose improvements.Assist in maintaining financial discipline across departments.6. System and Process ImprovementCoordinate data and process alignment between QuickBooks Online and Odoo.Maintain well-organized, secure digital financial records.Suggest improvements to enhance reporting accuracy and efficiency.QualificationsWilling to work night shift to overlap with North American hours.Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration.CPA highly desired.3–5 years of experience in accounting and finance (multi-entity or international exposure preferred).Proficiency in QuickBooks Online and/or Odoo (required).Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, forecasting, cash flow models).Experience in financial statement preparation, consolidation, and budgeting.Experience in audit.Excellent attention to detail, analytical mindset, and time management.Strong written and verbal English communication skills.Key CompetenciesAccuracy and accountability in financial dataAnalytical and problem-solving mindsetIndependence and reliability in remote workStrong organizational and communication skillsPerformance Metrics (KPIs)Timely and accurate monthly reports and reconciliationsAccuracy of consolidated financials and forecastsOn-time completion of management and bank reportingProactive communication and process improvementCompensation & Work SetupFully remote, full-time role with overlap with Eastern Time business hours.Long-term career growth opportunity — potential transition to Finance and Accounting Manager as the group expands.Annual performance-based bonus.Work Location:Remote – Night Shift
