IDEXX has invested heavily in Veterinary Software and is seeking a skilled Senior Full Stack Engineer - Tech Lead to join our squad at our Auckland global software center of excellence. Your focus will be delivering high-quality solutions that address complex challenges related to our portfolio of cloud platforms and applications. We’re looking for a motivated technical expert to lead one or potentially two squads focused on specific products. It runs on MySQL 8 and AWS with deployments via Docker, Terraform, and GitLab, leveraging Redis, DynamoDB, Lambda, and Step Functions. SmartFlow is patient workflow software with an AngularJS (soon React) web app, a native iOS iPad app, and a .NET backend on Azure. It uses Terraform, Helm, Kubernetes, Docker, GitHub Actions, Azure Service Bus, CosmosDB, MSSQL, SignalR, and Apple Push. Vet Radar improves in-patient workflows with a React-Native codebase for web and iOS apps (via Expo). Its AWS serverless backend, deployed with Terraform and GitHub Actions, uses Lambda, EventBridge, SQS, RDS (Postgres), DynamoDB, and ElastiCache. Vello connects veterinary teams and clients through a cloud-native AWS platform integrated with IDEXX PIMS. It uses Lambda, TypeScript, DynamoDB, Postgres RDS, and ECS containers for scalability and performance.In This RoleCreate technical design documentationBuild large-scale or complex projects that are fit for purpose and achieve the desired resultBuild code that is well-crafted, highly scalable, and maintainableMonitor, evaluate, and improve projects as they are released (agile)Write well-designed unit testsProvide senior code reviews to ensure code that is released is robust and reliableRefactor low-level framework objects to improve the performance and scalability of our platformsContribute to high-level tech stack discussions and help drive our applications forwardServe as a mentor and guide for junior and intermediate engineersLead collaboration with cross-functional teams to better understand the broader aspects of our portfolio and collectively solve the challenges of scaleWhat You Need To SucceedProven experience as a Senior Full Stack Software EngineerProven technical capability with software design, experience leading technical advancements to solve problems, experience with principles and practices related to cloud technologiesExperience with unit testingExperience with any: Typescript, MySQL, AWS (or C/C++, C#, Java, other OOP languages depending on ability), PHP/Laravel, GoLang, Node.js, React.js, React Native Web, other cloud architecturesPrevious experience in a SaaS environmentStrong Object Oriented (OO) design patterns and modular designExperience building and consuming APIs (JSON, SOAP)Not sure you meet all the qualifications?
