The Matter Optimisation (MO) function at Linklaters works closely with the Firm’s Practice Groups to design and deliver high quality legal solutions for clients. The function is structured according to 3 global practice divisions: Corporate, Finance and Litigation, Arbitration & Investigations and Centres of Excellence (CoE) to ensure seamless alignment with Practices, adoption of optimised ways of working, effective best practice, and sustainable growth to meet clients’ evolving requirements. The function comprises of several capabilities: Paralegals and Support Lawyers, LegalTech, Legal Project Management, Translation and our contract lawyer platform Re:link, who work together to maximise the client experience, whilst generating profitable revenue for the Firm.The purpose of the Legal Project Manager role is to provide the Madrid practice and practices across Europe with project management expertise to support the delivery of client matters. This involves developing a deep understanding of the key transactions in order to define requirements and implement support models in line with Matter Optimisation and LPM best practices, legaltech tools and services, providing a high-quality project management expertise that enhance efficiency and deliver greater value to clients.Your Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop a deep understanding of the key Matter Optimisation organisation, services, products and best practices.Proactively identify LPM service delivery opportunities in new client matters handled by the Madrid Office.Conducting matter ‘take on’ conversations to understand the matter requirements and advising how LPM support can best be leveraged, and cross-selling other Matter Optimisation services where appropriate.Present and pitch to the client Matter Optimisation and LPM services and products that can be requested by clients. Providing LPM support on matters in line with the legal project management service offering.Supporting activities to raise awareness of the Matter Optimisation and LPM capability (e.g. delivering training, supporting marketing efforts) across the Madrid office and across Europe, where required.Advising on appropriate technology and resourcing solutions from across Matter Optimisation to support effective matter delivery, signposting to and liaising with relevant specialist teams as appropriate.Proactively contribute to the continuous improvement of the LPM services and products, support the development and maintenance of best practice project management guidance, including collaboration with other Legal Project Managers, Matter Optimisation Teams and practice areas within the Firm to discuss challenges or issues and innovate by introducing new tools and ways of working.Join relevant internal and external fora and attend relevant global / regional Matter Optimisation meetings, calls and events.Your ExperienceMinimum 3 years’ of project / change management experience in a professional services environment, ideally within a law firmProven experience in successfully developing and/or implementing changes and business improvement initiatives.Competent in MS Office applications, particularly Excel, and experience using technology to support project deliveryQualificationsDegree in Law, Business, Economics, Engineering or any other related academic backgroundsQualifications in project management (e.g. Prince 2 / IPMA) and change management are desirable but not essentialAdditional SkillsHighly motivated individual with a proactive, pragmatic and resilient approach Ability to build credibility quickly amongst team members and key stakeholders, and establish themselves as a trusted advisorExcellent at building, maintaining, and leveraging relationships to support both team and firm objectivesExcellent communicator with ability to engage effectively with stakeholders of all seniorities to facilitate business outcomesFluency in both English and SpanishLinklaters Linklaters is a global law firm, with 31 offices in 21 countries worldwide.Linklaters is a people business.
