Senior Linux System Engineer

Odeabank is seeking an experienced and proactive Senior Linux System Engineer to join our Infrastructure & Operations team. The ideal candidate will have a deep background in Red Hat-based Linux systems, strong proficiency in Ansible automation, and a solid understanding of enterprise IT environments. This role is crucial in building, managing, and optimizing secure, scalable, and highly available infrastructure services.Key ResponsibilitiesLinux System AdministrationDesign, implement, and maintain enterprise-grade Linux infrastructure.Manage core system services including authentication, storage, networking, access control, and security hardening.Ensure stability, security, and compliance within critical production environments.Automation and ScriptingLead configuration management and infrastructure automation efforts using Ansible, including the development of playbooks, roles, and templates.Develop shell or Python scripts to automate operational tasks, including monitoring, deployments, and scheduled jobs.Promote infrastructure standardization and reusable automation frameworks.Monitoring and OptimizationMonitor performance, availability, and capacity of Linux systems using observability tools.Proactively identify bottlenecks and apply optimizations and upgrade strategies.Maintain backup policies and provide L2/L3-level operational support, including 24/7 on-call when necessary.Vendor and Support ManagementCoordinate with third-party vendors and technology partners for infrastructure-related services.Oversee the full lifecycle of support cases: creation, escalation, resolution, and documentation.Monitor vendor SLA compliance and manage support contracts efficiently.Asset and License ManagementMaintain a reliable inventory of infrastructure assets.Track software licensing, renewals, and ensure compliance with vendor agreements.Collaborate with procurement and risk teams to ensure cost-effective and audit-ready license management.Documentation and ComplianceEnsure systems are fully documented, including configurations, processes, and automation flows.Maintain compliance with internal policies, security standards, and regulatory requirements. QualificationsBachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or related field.Minimum 8 years of experience in system engineering, with a strong focus on Linux environments and automation.Technical ExpertiseStrong hands-on expertise in Red Hat-based Linux distributions (RHEL, Rocky, AlmaLinux, etc.).Proven experience with Ansible and Ansible Tower for configuration management and orchestration.Proficiency in scripting (e.g., Bash, Python).Familiarity with DevOps practices, containerization, virtualization, and basic Windows administration.Understanding of security hardening, patch management, and system compliance.Knowledge of local banking regulations or regulated IT environments is a plus.Preferred QualificationsRed Hat certifications such as RHCSA or RHCE.Practical experience in infrastructure modernization and automation projects.Basic understanding of disaster recovery, capacity planning, and audit readiness.Familiarity with secure design principles and access control enforcement.Strong communication skills in English (minimum B2 level)
