The Company is focused on a sustainable business model associated with the production and sale of copper and gold, delivery of production goals and growth.Phu Bia Mining’s producing assets are the Phu Kham Copper-Gold Operation and the Ban Houayxai Gold-Silver Operation, both located in the Company’s 2,600 square-kilometre. The company has a Mineral Exploration and Production Agreement (MEPA) with the Government of Laos which regulated exploration, development and mining activities within the Contract Area, and sets out the Company’s tax and royalty obligations.This position is based at our Phu Kham Copper-Gold Operation, located approximately 120-140km north of the Lao capital, Vientiane. Phu Kham is a conventional open pit mine producing approximately 85,000 tonnes of copper concentrate annually. The process plant, upgraded to a design capacity of 19 million tonnes per annum, comprises a SAG mill and two ball mill grinding circuits, each rated at 13 megawatts, with copper and precious metal recovery by flotation.Responsibilities The key objective of Senior Mine Geologist is to manage the definition and extraction of Company’s Ore Reserve, and its controlled delivery to the mill, as well as the definition of waste material for ARD purposes, providing technical supervision and guidance in all facets of mine geology.Activities will largely consist of technical supervision of ore-blocking, dilution control, ore-blending, and analysis of geometallurgical responses, grade control planning and drilling, drillhole databases (including QAQC activities and components), block modelling, mapping, sampling, logging and, interpretation and wire-framing of pit exposures and drillhole information.Throughout all activities, the Senior will also be an active participant in refinements to processes through the identification, initiation, and completion of continuous improvement project work.Your outstanding leadership and coaching skills will be critical to the ongoing development and performance of the Company’s Lao-national workforce. This is an excellent opportunity to make a difference and see your team growth and develop as a direct result of your efforts.Effective operation of PAA Health and Safety systems in the work environment.Understand Phu Kham geology and material classification systems.Understand and experiences on Drill hole Design (GC, RC and DD), activities in accordance with production targets and mine planning schedules.Liaison with and supervision of drilling contractor with regards to high-quality sampling practices and sample recovery.Guidance to staff with regards to sample preparation, core processing, logging, analysis, QAQC and dispatching.Produce hardcopy maps of the pit exposures as and when required.Perform domaining and model estimation functions as directed.At times, generate sectional interpretations of mineralisation.Interpretation the PKM structure and mineralization at down deep for the growth project to extend the life of Mine.Technical supervision, analysis and support to production geology and ore control functions including:- Ore and waste block design, and maintenance of material type classifications- Blast movement measurement, and adjustment of boundaries- Markups and mining practices, with a focus on ore loss and dilution control- Fleet management system (Jigsaw) validations and geological data maintenance- Periodical material movement and crusher feed reporting- Stockpile managementRepresent Mine Geology in periodical Production meetings where activities affect mining operations.Supervision all drilling activities in the pit included ProductionParticipate in reconciliation processes for identification of improvement areas.Conduct business improvement studies under Superintendent guidance and implement change management strategies.Maintain monthly reporting (Reconciliation) and participate in cost control initiatives, inclusive of budget and forecasting exercises.Facilitate training and development of subordinate staff especially Lao staffs.Provide high-quality technical support to the Mining and Processing sections, and assist investigations into non-compliances.Provide technical and geological support to other PanAust Departments/Groups as required.Attend to HR related tasks when required.Act as Mine Geology Superintendent when the Supt is away from the sitesParticipate in and/or perform any additional geological tasks as assigned by the Mining Manager, Geology Superintendent or Principal Resource Geologist.Skills and experience Degree qualification in Geology and Exploration with at least +5 years’ experience as a Geologist/ Senior GeologistExperience in Geological modelling, Mineralization, structural and LithologiesExperience in variable deposits Copper, Gold and Silver deposits of Open pit and Underground minePrevious experience scripting for the resource modelling in the Surpac and Datamine software.Expertise in Surpac, Datamine, Deswik, Micromine and Blast movement software’sExperience and background scripting in the Datamine studios RM and SurpacStrong commitment to training and supporting the growth of Lao National employeesUnwavering safety focusOur culture High performance outcomes, Respect for people, Integrity, Excellence in communications, High-calibre people and Alignment of employee to company objectivesBenefitsWe offer competitive remuneration packaging including bonus incentive (and potential tax advantages), health insurance cover, children’s education and housing allowance (residential only), parental leave and more.This role is offered on fly in – fly out (28/14 days) or residential roster with travel in company time and transport to and from site provided by the company.
