Role DescriptionWe are seeking a Senior Plant Design Manager to lead the design and engineering of state-of-the-art Domestic Waste Treatment Plants. You will be the central figure, guiding projects from the initial conceptual and estimation phase all the way through detailed design, construction support, and final trial operation. This is a high-impact role where you will see a project through its entire 8-10 year lifecycle, from plan to operational plant.Key responsibility Lead Design & Estimation: Develop the basic plant design and process calculations based on client requirements (waste volume, type, environmental standards). Create accurate estimates and compelling proposals for competitive bids.Project Leadership: After order win, take ownership as the Design Manager, coordinating detailed engineering across multiple internal departments (Mechanical, Piping, Electrical, Civil) and external equipment manufacturers.Stakeholder Management: Serve as the primary technical point of contact for clients (local governments), providing clear explanations and negotiating specifications.Oversight & Coordination: Manage the integrated design process, ensuring all components meet performance, cost, and schedule requirements.Commissioning Support: Lead and support the trial operation phase (approx. 6 months) to verify plant performance and ensure a successful handover to the client. Qualifications 5+ years of professional experience in plant engineering (waste-to-energy, chemical, power, or similar heavy industrial sectors).A natural leader and coordinator, adept at managing complex, multi-stakeholder projects.Strong engineering background and can understand and integrate work from various technical disciplines.Ideal Qualifications:A degree in Sanitary, Environmental, Mechanical, Chemical, or a related engineering field.Professional engineering certifications (e.g., Plant Engineer, Pipework Construction Management Engineer, Boiler Engineer) are highly advantageous.Fluency in English is required; proficiency in Japanese is required (JLPT N2)
