With a proven track record of partnering with 70+ top brands, Merch & Effect transforms traditional POS into memorable brand interactions.JOB OVERVIEWThe Sourcing & Product Engineering Manager oversees both the Sourcing and Product Engineering teams to ensure seamless coordination from supplier selection through product development and production readiness. This role requires strong leadership, technical understanding, and cross-functional collaboration to translate design intent into manufacturable, high-quality, and cost-efficient products.The Manager ensures that sourcing decisions, supplier communications, and engineering documentation (SS, TSS, manuals, etc.) are accurate, timely, and aligned with client requirements and factory capabilities. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESAssign tasks to team and check on their qualitative completionMonitor communications with suppliers to make sure sourcing is timely and accurateKeep documents in order for sharing/consultation of other departments too (ex. supplier DB)Create repository of historical products sourced (can be delegated to team member) to ease estimations and price checkingCheck and approve all SS and TSS, comparing them vs design requirements vs factory capabilities, using critical thinking to propose solutions and solve issuesReview and approve manuals for complex items, making sure it is correct with the help of AQF and as easy to understand as possible for clientUnderstand both factory and client perspective (TSS is for both, Manuals are for clients)Support feasibility evaluations with research and factory knowledgeBe knowledgeable about materials, printing techniques, and basic engineering of the items we sellBe the owner of the specs of the product from sourcing start to mass production startKeep open communication with marketing and design through weekly alignment and group chat to make sure what is sourced and what is on the TSS is always aligned with what client needs/ what’s on the live SBBe involved in discussions with factories (in wechat group) to get firsthand info and learn their perspective Manage basecamp tasks for team and for adjacent functions (assign next steps to Accounting, ask clarifications to Marketing and Design, etc)Reply to comments on BC when other teams need input from sourcing or info from suppliers and keep adjacent departments proactively informed of changes and factory solutions proposedQUALIFICATIONSMinimum of 5 years of experience in sourcing, product engineering, or manufacturing coordination roles (preferably in consumer goods, promotional merchandise, or similar industries).Strong understanding of production processes, materials, and quality standards.🏎️ Speed and Time Management: You can prioritise your workload to meet deadlines without compromising quality.Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.Proficient in Microsoft Office / Google Workspace, Basecamp, and design-related documentation tools (e.g., Illustrator, CAD, or 3D viewer software).🔍 Detailed - great attention to detail.
