Your new company Hays has partnered with a large contractor with offices across Canada, and specifically one in the Greater Toronto Area. They focus on all types of construction projects, including institutional, commercial, industrial and residential and are a Top 100 Inspiring Workplace in North America. Currently however, they are looking to bring a Senior Project Director to lead their Major Projects division. They pride themselves on their company values and are looking for someone to align to those standards.Your new role The Senior Project Director, Major Projects, will lead a newer division, overseeing the delivery of large-scale builds that make a lasting impact on communities. They will be responsible for developing project strategies, leading a high performing team, and driving innovation in delivery models such as P3 structures. They will serve as a key company representative in high-stakes negotiations with government agencies, investors and joint venture partners. They will champion safety, sustainability and digital transformation across the portfolio. The Senior PD will oversee project controls, including budgeting, cost forecasting, scheduling and risk mitigation. This individual will manage project financing and contract strategy along with overall financial risk. Finally, they will mentor senior project leaders and support recruitment for future leadership pipelines. What you'll need to succeed The successful Senior Project Director candidate will have at least 20 years in construction and 10 years as a Senior PM, Director or even VP, dependent on the size of the company. They will have a degree in construction, engineering or related discipline and a PMP or P. Eng designation. They will be an expert in project financing, capital planning, contract negotiation and dispute resolution. They will have successfully led 2+ hospital or large institutional projects over $1B under P3, EPC, or design-build models. They will have proven leadership experience, with the ability to work with multinational teams and build a local major projects team. Finally, the Senior Project Director will be an exceptional communicator with the ability to engage with government bodies, board members and C-suite executives.
