The Senior Project Manager is responsible for independent creation of technical work product as a single contributor and for supporting the success of their entire assigned practice area as the highest priority, regardless of any assigned subpractice area focus, or specific client engagement or relationship. In any activities, the Senior Project Manager will perform assigned tasks in a manner that models the Company’s core values and inspires and encourages goal achievement through empowerment, learning, and creativity among the team.Core ResponsibilitiesWork Product Creation, Project Management, Coordination with Team MembersThe Senior Project Manager directly performs planning, design and construction program oversight and management services and other related project consulting services assignments contracted for delivery by the Company. This position coordinates, monitors and reports on design and construction activities and will assume a leadership role on complex projects.The incumbent facilitates quality control, maintenance of design and construction schedules, construction management, and owner representative responsibilities. The Senior Project Manager manages potentially large and multiple project delivery teams to provide coordinated expertise, standardized tools and project management advice to the client.The Senior Project Manager trains and mentors Project Managers as well as Assistant Project Managers. The position assists in pre-qualifying and targeting individuals and departments within those groups to whom the Company should most appropriately propose its services as well as cultivating positive, professional and long-term relationships with those parties.Principal AccountabilitiesPerforms management and consulting services as assigned ensuring project continues on schedule and within budgetary and quality requirements.Ensures documentation relative to outstanding issues, change orders and requests for information are appropriately maintained and tracked.Tracks and controls construction schedule and associated costs to achieve completion of project within time and monies allocated avoiding unnecessary delays and cost overruns.Works with client to ensure effective regulatory agency relations and planning to expedite project design approval and permitting processes.Ensures effective communications and a collaborative work environment. When leading projects, the position will provide management and oversight. When a team member, will help develop tools and reports.Supervises, develops, and maintains program budgets, schedules and status reports.Provides oversight and management of external vendors.Oversees performance of all trade contractors and reviews plans to ensure standards of building performance, quality, cost schedules and safety are maintained.Reviews project delivery team member’s invoices and applications for payment for compliance with all contracts.OperationsBe aware of and perform own tasks in a manner that supports the organization’s vision and defined business objectivesConduct self and prioritize tasks to work toward achievement of defined profit objectives of assigned projectsCooperate in construction of strong cross-functional teams (support staff assignments of self) to achieve success in shared goals, understanding that multiple perspectives and talents build stronger teams and resultsComplete daily tasks consistent with contract requirements and proactively alert assigned manager to any potential challenges or issuesEnsure compliance of operations with all local, state and Federal (and International, if applicable) regulations, as well as compliance with company policyEnsure consistent high quality on deliverables for all individual work productOther duties as assignedQualifications & CompetenciesBachelor of Architecture, Engineering or Building ConstructionSix to nine years of experience in healthcare design, construction and/or facilities industry and three to five years of experience of direct project management experience with construction projects of increasing complexity.Demonstrated leadership and supervisory skills in the delivery of health care facilities including medical office buildings, acute care general hospitals, outpatient surgery centers and psychiatric hospitals from programming through facility activation.Must have been in responsible charge of the delivery of major projects exceeding $50 million construction cost and of significant complexity in at least two (2) of the above four (4) categories.KnowledgeKnowledge of health care design and construction, building codes and regulations, space programming and allocation, cost analysis and contract negotiation.Knowledge of project coordination/management, budgeting and scheduling concepts and procedures is required, as well as the process of project planning, design and construction.Special Skills/EquipmentExcellent verbal and written communication skills, solid interpersonal and conflict resolution abilities and work group facilitation skillsLeadership skills and the ability to initiate and maintain clear communications are preferredDemonstration of leadership ability, including the management and delegation of appropriate tasks to technical and non-technical support staffDemonstrated ability to gather needs and translate requests into potential solutionsFamiliarity with Microsoft Office and Microsoft Project software is preferredAdditional InformationAt VERTEX, we invest in top talent with a highly competitive total compensation package designed to reward performance and support long-term success.
