This is your chance to work on some of the biggest and most innovative products in the country, leveraging cutting-edge technology and telling a compelling technical story with real, tangible impact.Our Digital Platform Engineers are the driving force behind the platform that powers Sky’s world-class streaming services—delivering seamless entertainment to hundreds of thousands of New Zealanders every day across Sky Box, Sky Pod, Sky Go, and Neon. This role sits at the heart of Sky’s digital ecosystem, where you’ll help build fast, scalable, and rock-solid systems that create an exceptional viewing experience.Key Responsibilities Will Include Designing, building, and operating services primarily using Java, powering high-volume APIs and integrating with internal and third-party systems. Designing and implement AWS cloud infrastructure components to support scalable, secure, and resilient platforms. Collaborating with software development teams to ensure the platform supports application workloads effectively and meets performance requirements. Playing a crucial role in architecting the Sky platform, considering scalability, fault tolerance, and security in all designs. Monitoring platform performance and availability, using tools and audits to proactively identify and resolve issues. Work closely with stakeholders—including product, CX/UX/UI, designers, architects, analysts, developers, and content specialists—to deliver Sky’s digital products. NGĀ PŪKENGA ME NGĀ WHEAKO I WHAT YOU WILL BRING With proven experience as a Digital Platform Engineer, you are energised by the opportunity to own technical solutions end-to-end, make impactful decisions, and collaborate closely with others to deliver high-quality, scalable platforms.You bring excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex issues and communicate technical concepts clearly. You thrive working with cross-functional teams—including developers, designers, architects, analysts, and product experts—to deliver high-quality digital products.Together with this you will bring Proven experience with Java (Spring framework), NoSQL databases, AWS, CI/CD pipelines, configuration management, and Git. A strong understanding of cloud computing technologies. Experience building and publishing modern HTTP-based JSON APIs. Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to communicate technical concepts clearly. Experience in designing complex, high-quality, scalable platforms. Experience implementing testing platforms and unit tests. Desirable / Advantageous Skills: Familiarity with DevSecOps or SRE practices for secure and resilient platform design.
