Cutting edge user interfaces backed by thoughtful systems designed to flex, backed by accessibility principles, and ready for build.This is a hands-on role with close collaboration across UX, dev and production teams. You'll work on brand-forward projects, component-based systems, and conversion-focused user journeys.Top Level Expectations You'll bring maturity in interface design thinking, execution, and systemisation.You'll bring a creative edge but won't forget the details—paddings, grids, flex states and hierarchy.You'll be confident designing across accessibility, animation, interaction and responsive behaviour.You'll understand how design decisions impact development effort—and client outcomes.You'll contribute to design ops, tools, and rituals that make great work possible.While not a branding role, you'll bring a deep understanding of brand fundamentals and visual identity. You'll need to know how to push brands further and translate them into aspirational ‘North Star' concepts and great User Interfaces.Part of the TeamYou'll be asked to fit within our established Shape, Build and Adapt workflow that stretches across our Strategic, Design, Production and Development teams. You will be required to pro-actively be part of the entire process. We want our team members to lean in, support and lift up the other parts of our business wherever possible.You'll be embedded in our cross-functional team, working alongside UX, Development and Production to deliver thoughtful, beautiful, and effective digital experiences. This isn't a siloed design role. We expect you to be actively engaged across the project lifecycle, from early exploration through to post-launch iteration.You'll collaborate closely with UX to ensure continuity between research, structure, and interface. You'll work hand-in-hand with developers to ensure your designs are buildable, scalable, and elegant under the hood. Someone who can confidently hold their own in critique, advocate for better ways of working, and help elevate our capabilities.RequirementsInterface Design Craft Beginning with strong conceptual frameworks, design elegant, scalable user interfaces across a range of client websites and platforms, delivering design that looks good, feels great, and performs under pressureBe able digest and apply user stories - translating functional requirements into intuitive and effective interfacesApply modular component-based design thinking, building flexible design systems that can scale across pages, content types and CMS structuresCollaborate closely with UX to bring wireframes and IA to life, elevating concepts into engaging interfaces that reflect brand and purposeApply data driven solutions to user needs, leveraging insights and analytics to inform and refine design decisionsApply user interface principles that support conversion rate optimisation, structuring layouts, hierarchy, and calls-to-action to guide user behaviour and drive outcomesEnsure UI work adheres to WCAG accessibility principles, responsive behaviours, and performance best practicesWork side-by-side with development to ensure design integrity through build, providing annotations, handoff assets, and dev collaboration that's proactive, not passiveChampion consistency and attention to detail across design outputs, grids, spacing, hierarchy, interaction states, type, colour, layoutWorkflow + CollaborationWork within Bone's framework across cross-functional teams. This includes client workshops, internal critiques, sprint-based production cycles, and feedback loopsOwn the UI delivery during Build phase: from early design direction to client presentation to dev handoff and responsive QA supportCollaborate with production to align design capacity with timelines and delivery expectationsUse Figma as your primary tool, managing files with precision, documentation, components, and collaborative notes that help the whole team (and client) stay alignedContribute to Bone's internal systems, whether that's file structures, feedback rituals, or improving how we present and pitch workContinuous LearningParticipate in internal design rituals (retros, workshops, reviews) that improve how we work as a teamStay sharp with industry trends, accessibility, motion, component systems, new tools including AI-assisted design and prototyping workflows to improve efficiency, creativity, and output qualityContribute to client-facing presentations, shaping how we talk about UI with confidence and clarityHelp shape Bone's design ops infrastructure, as we build out a clearer distinction and deeper integration between UX and UI offeringsKey Selection CriteriaUI Expertise3-5+ years experience designing for web, digital product, or ecommerce environments (agency experience preferred)Demonstrated proficiency in modular based design for CMS's, component based design systems, with a portfolio that shows both polish and flexibilityAdvanced Figma skills across file management, flexible auto layouts, components. A solid understanding of Figma variables, styles and effects. Bonus points for familiarity setting up design files to interface with Figma's MCP serverConfidence working across accessibility standards (WCAG 2.1 AA) and designing for diverse user needsSolid understanding of handoff processes to development, including Figma annotation and design documentation, through to ongoing design support during buildExperience designing for performance, prioritising speed, usability and conversion in addition to aestheticsBonus points for familiarity working with motion tools (like Jitter) to communicate interactions for client showcase and development handoffSimilarly, experience with 3D asset generation and associated workflows is appreciated, but not a strict requirement.
