Job DescriptionJOB SUMMARYThe SMT Engineer will be responsible for the setup, programming, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement of SMT equipment used in the PCB assembly process. The role involves ensuring smooth production workflows, minimizing downtime, optimizing machine performance, and achieving high-quality production standards. The SMT Engineer will collaborate with production teams, quality control, and design engineers to address any issues in the manufacturing process and improve efficiency.ResponsibilitiesProgram and set up SMT machines (pick-and-place, reflow ovens, screen printers). Troubleshoot and resolve production issues, focusing on improving yields and reducing defects. Maintain and perform routine repairs on SMT equipment. Drive continuous improvement in production processes, ensuring efficiency and quality. Document processes, log machine setups, and maintain quality control standards. Train operators and technicians on SMT equipment usage and troubleshooting. QualificationsBachelor's degree in an engineering field3+ years of experience in SMT process engineering in the electronic manufacturing environment. Hands-on experience with SMT equipment such as pick-and-place, through-hole soldering systems, reflow ovens, screen printers, and AOI/inspection systems. Familiarity with SMT components, solder paste, and reflow profiling. Experience with lean manufacturing principles and Six Sigma methodologies. Strong work ethic and drive to succeed. Ability to work in a fast-paced, autonomously driven, and demanding start-up atmosphere. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. PHYSICAL DEMAND & WORKING ENVIRONMENT Physical demands: while performing the duties of this job, employee may be standing most shift with machine use and will interact with other employees/visitors. May be required to lift up to 5 pounds. May lift trays or push carts of PCB assemblies from one department to another. May lift/push feeders/equipment from time to time.TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONSWorks in an ESD manufacturing environment. Lift/carry/push/pull up to 20lbs. Stooping, bending, stretching, and reaching outward and over their head. This position may require extended periods of sitting, standing, and walking. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when necessary. May require occasional travel.
