Our shared values shape everything that we do at Render and are central to everything we do as a company:- Lead Boldly with Courageous Innovation- Integrity & Accountability- Put Customers at the CenterThe role you will play:As a Software Engineer at Render, you are a back-end focused engineer who is passionate about all aspects of excellent developer experiences including architecting and developing simple yet powerful APIs, authoring clear and informative documentation, building compelling integration applications, and interacting with internal and external customers to incorporate feedback. You will be an expert in Python code bases and demonstrate bothhigh code velocity and quality simultaneously. The backend team consists of some of the most dynamic and enured software engineers at Render, and is motivated to deliver high quality code for internal and external integrations that support our product-led strategy.Key responsibilities of the role will include:Work within the Backend team to develop a scalable, reliable, and high-performance APIsBe a proactive member of system scoping discussions, technical specifications and code reviewsMaintain best practices for backend infrastructure focusing on scalability and reliabilityCreate robust test cases for new platform and API capabilitiesRoll out changes and migrations to customers in an agile manner with backward compatibilityWork with and mentor fellow engineers through code reviews and technical sessionsTroubleshoot production issues across various service levelsCollaborate with engineers, technical leaders, product managers, and designers to scope out and deliver on new features and roadmap itemsOn-site mentorship and cross team collaboration sessionsOur ideal candidate must have:A BS degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering, or relevant engineering field4+ years of professional backend software development, including developing API productsDeep understanding of modern Python and the ecosystemSolid understanding of the full stack of technologies needed to build and run APIs (Render’s API is built using Fast API)Expertise in Restful API design and managementProficient in SQL, database design, with a good understanding of optimisation and performance best practicesExposure to working within AWSProduction experience with observability tooling, Datadog, New Relic or similarSolid understanding of CI/CD methodologies and experience in building pipelinesExperience with agile software development methodologiesMotivated to develop high quality code, ability to engage with all necessary stakeholders to ensure that happensExperience with gathering and documenting technical requirements and specificationsExcellent communication, collaboration, and delegation skillsWhat’s on offer:At Render, we’re ‘reimagining connection’ and enabling both our customers, and the communities they exist to serve, to reach their full potential.
