This position is responsible for designing, executing, and documenting test plans to validate complex software and system functionality. Working as part of a collaborative development team the Test Engineer contributes directly to advancing incision-free alternatives to traditional surgical treatments - helping deliver innovations that can change lives.Duties and Responsibilities:The Software Test Engineer will be part of an interdisciplinary team developing an integrated software platform that connects a Windows desktop application with an MR scanner and multiple real-time embedded components. Key responsibilities include:Designing and maintaining test plans, test cases, and testing strategiesEnhancing and extending the automated test framework to support continuous verification.Executing functional, integration, and system-level tests to ensure software reliability and compliance.Preparing clear, structured documentation and maintaining traceability for all verification activities.Collaborating closely with software and hardware teams to support troubleshooting, system integration, and verification efforts.Education and Certification:Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical discipline is required.A master’s degree in a relevant field is an asset.Training or certification in software quality assurance, automated testing, or regulatory standards (e.g., ISTQB, IEC 62304, ISO 13485) is considered an asset.Key Attributes (experience, skills and technical knowledge):The Software Test Engineer role requires a combination of technical expertise, practical problem-solving, and the ability to work effectively in an interdisciplinary environment. The position requires:Solid experience in software testing, preferably within a regulated or safety-critical environment.Proficiency in automated test frameworks and scripting languages.Familiarity with both Windows and embedded systems.Ability to work directly with integrated hardware/software systems in a laboratory setting.Desirable AttributesExperience in system-level testing, including development of automated test setups and instrumentation (e.g., LabView).Prior experience in medical device development or another highly regulated industry.We thank you for your interest in Profound Medical.
