Job Description

What is the role? The SOX & Internal Audit Country Lead (Manager Level) plays a critical role in ensuring the company’s compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX) requirements and in supporting Internal Audit activities at the country level. This role is responsible for implementing, monitoring, and maintaining Internal Controls over Financial Reporting (ICFR), as well as coordinating with Management, Internal Audit, and External Audit on testing, remediation, and documentation requirements, including but not limited to process flowcharts, risk and control matrices (RCMs), control remediation, and control updates.In addition, this role serves as the primary country liaison for Internal Audit, supporting risk-based audit execution, issue remediation, and governance activities in alignment with the expectations of a Nasdaq-listed telecommunications holding company operating across multiple LATAM jurisdictions.The SOX & Internal Audit Country Lead drives continuous improvement of the control environment, promotes a strong risk and compliance culture, and provides expert guidance to stakeholders across Finance, IT, Operations, and Commercial functions.How you add value? SOX Program ManagementLead the planning, execution, and reporting of the annual SOX compliance program at the country level.Coordinate with process owners to identify, document, and assess control changes as business processes, systems, or organizational structures evolve.Manage relationships and deliverables with Internal Audit and External Audit related to SOX testing, inquiries, and remediation activities.Provide expert guidance to Management in the design, implementation, and enhancement of controls supporting SOX compliance.Internal Control Implementation & MaintenanceOversee the implementation and ongoing maintenance of ICFR, including business process controls and IT General Controls (ITGCs).Conduct and coordinate walkthroughs to understand key business processes, identify financial reporting and operational risks, and assess control design and operating effectiveness.Rationalize, standardize, and optimize controls across the country, identifying opportunities for automation and efficiency while maintaining compliance with SOX, SEC, and PCAOB requirementsInternal Audit ResponsibilitiesAct as the primary country point of contact for Internal Audit, supporting execution of the annual risk-based Internal Audit plan.Coordinate Internal Audit fieldwork, including walkthroughs, data requests, documentation support, and management interviews.Support financial, operational, IT, and compliance audits, including telecom-specific areas such as revenue recognition, billing, customer operations, capital expenditures (CapEx), and IT systems.Own the tracking, management, and validation of Internal Audit findings, including management action plans and remediation timelines.Assess root causes of audit findings and control deficiencies, ensuring remediation actions are sustainable and address underlying risks.Validate remediation evidence and support formal closure of audit issues in coordination with Corporate Internal Audit.Risk Assessment & GovernanceParticipate in country-level and regional risk assessments, identifying emerging risks related to financial reporting, regulatory compliance, IT, cybersecurity, and operational processes.Support Management in strengthening governance and internal control frameworks consistent with public company and Nasdaq-listed standards.Escalate significant control deficiencies, audit findings, or risk exposures to regional and corporate stakeholders, as appropriate.Collaboration & CommunicationServe as a key liaison between process owners (Finance, IT, Operations, Commercial), Internal Audit, and External Auditors.Ensure alignment between SOX testing, Internal Audit activities, and External Audit reliance to minimize duplication and support a combined assurance approach.Foster a culture of compliance, accountability, and continuous improvement across the organization.Stay abreast of changes in SEC regulations, PCAOB standards, and industry best practices related to SOX and Internal Audit.Special Projects & Regulatory SupportSupport compliance audits, regulatory reviews, and special projects, as assigned.Contribute to initiatives related to ESG reporting, data governance, fraud risk management, and other regulatory or corporate governance requirements.Drive continuous improvement of audit methodologies, documentation standards, and internal control frameworks.What do you need?Preferred certifications: CIA, CPA, CISA, or equivalent.Experience: Public company SOX and Internal Audit experience, ideally within telecommunications or other regulated industries.Fully bilingual (Spanish–English).Clear understanding of country-level responsibilities within a regional coordination structure.
