Job PurposeThe Sports & Events Manager is responsible for the planning, management, and delivery of sports programmes, events, and corporate hires at the venue. The role focuses on developing engaging and commercially viable offerings that drive revenue, participation, and visibility. The incumbent will lead teams across sports development, events, and corporate services to ensure the seamless execution of all activities while maintaining high service standards, operational efficiency, and compliance with safety protocols.Key Responsibilities1. Programme and Event ManagementDesign and manage diverse sports and event programmes for a wide range of audiences.Plan and deliver corporate bookings, public events, and sports activations.Promote the venue through internal and organization-wide events and campaigns.Collaborate closely with the wider Sports team to ensure aligned delivery and execution.2. Team LeadershipLead, supervise, and motivate sports coaches, event staff, and part-time or casual employees.Oversee staff recruitment, induction, training, and performance management.Support team development through structured training plans and documentation.Maintain a strong culture of teamwork, accountability, and professional growth.3. Stakeholder EngagementBuild and maintain relationships with sports federations, schools, sponsors, promoters, and corporate clients.Coordinate with partners, governing bodies, and vendors for programme and event enhancement.Foster partnerships across facilities and external networks to support growth initiatives.4. Marketing and PromotionContribute to marketing and communication strategies for events and sports programmes.Ensure consistent and high-quality client communication for all bookings and partnerships.Support brand visibility through engaging activations, events, and experiences.Collaborate with marketing and communications teams for coordinated promotional efforts.5. Operational ExcellenceEnsure all sports and event operations adhere to safety, quality, and compliance standards.Monitor venue cleanliness, service delivery, and staff presentation during events.Manage staffing levels for events in coordination with senior management.Oversee logistics planning, scheduling, and on-ground coordination for all sports and events activities.6. Governance and ComplianceAdhere to all relevant legislation, policies, and organizational procedures including:Health & Safety PolicyFinancial RegulationsEquality, Diversity, and Inclusion PoliciesEnvironmental and Sustainability ProtocolsQualifications & ExperienceBachelor’s degree or vocational qualification in Sports Management, Event Management, or a related field.Minimum of 5 years of experience in sports and event management, preferably in multi-sport environments.NVQ Level 4 Diploma in Spectator Safety Management (Preferred).IOSH Managing Safely Certification (Preferred).First Aid at Work Certification (Desirable).Fluent in English; Arabic language skills are an advantage.Key CompetenciesProven ability to plan and execute large-scale sports and event programmes.Strong understanding of health, safety, and safeguarding protocols.Demonstrated leadership in managing diverse teams and service quality.Knowledge of sports federation operations and industry best practices.High computer literacy in Microsoft Office and event management software.Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.Commercially aware with strong budgeting and reporting capabilities.Culturally sensitive and team-oriented.Flexible to work weekends and extended hours during major events.
