About This JobSouth Louisiana Community College is seeking a Maintenance Repairer 2 to join our team! This position is responsible for performing skilled maintenance and repair work on facility equipment and systems, ensuring all areas are safe, functional, and well-maintained in accordance with departmental standards. South Louisiana Community College is a comprehensive community college that operates campuses in Abbeville, Crowley, Franklin, Lafayette, Morgan City, New Iberia, Opelousas, St. Martinville, and Ville Platte. The college serves approximately 12,000 students annually and offers an array of academic programs. Minimum QualificationsTwo years of experience or training in the building construction trades, building maintenance, maintenance or repair of mechanical equipment, or as a parks building and grounds attendant; ORCompletion of a two-year vocational technical program in general building construction, construction technology, or engineering; ORTwelve semester hours in construction management, construction technology, or engineering, or any combination of these courses. Job Duties and Other Information Services, repairs, and maintains all equipment as assigned or in accordance with preventative maintenance program. Performs major repairs, safety inspections, and upgrades to a variety of building systems as assigned. Troubleshoots any equipment issues and determines the best course of action for completing the repair. Keeps records of all work and preventative maintenance tasks as directed. Oversees the work of subordinate repairers as assigned. Performs grounds upkeep and other general duties to ensure that all facilities are presentable and in line with departmental standards. Position-Specific Details: Physical Demands:

The physical demands described in the above duties are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Learned physical skill is required for proper safe lifting and material handling techniques. Must be able to lift and move heavy equipment and material (70+) lbs. Must have the ability to drive and operate a truck, forklifts, pallet jacks and hand trucks. Expected to attentively listen and respond appropriately to all assigned duties. Expected to use appropriate and respectful language on all occasions. Expected to perform all work to departmental standards. Expected to be punctual and prompt when arriving to work.

Expected to make appropriate decisions that are consistent with the circumstances. Expected to understand and follow all required safety practices. Expected to complete trainings as required and assigned. Expected to submit all leave requests in accordance with departmental guidelines. Expected to dress presentably and appropriately in accordance with departmental guidelines. Adaptability: Expected to demonstrate flexibility to any schedule changes. Expected to seek out ways in which all assigned duties can be improved and performed more efficiently.
