We are looking for a Registered Nurse Advanced Practice who will play a vital role for the Louisiana Department of Health in the Behavioral Health community by utilizing CLSH’s values and mission to deliver quality and effective care to our patients. The hospital is highly committed to cooperative work with other state agencies and with the state and regional mental health program to ensure the integration and coordination of hospital-community services into a comprehensive system of mental health care. Minimum QualificationsPossession of a current Louisiana Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) or a temporary permit. Note:

The temporary APRN permit allows an APRN applicant to work in a limited capacity for up to 120 days while awaiting review for full APRN licensure by the nursing board. An APRN applicant cannot medically diagnose or medically manage patients until they are licensed and have prescriptive authority. If the APRN license is not received within the 120-day period and the permit expires, the employee must be removed from the position. Job Duties and Other InformationUnder The Direct Supervision Of The Medical Clinic Physician And Medical Director With a Collaborative Agreement, The Incumbent Of This Position Serves As a Family Practice APRN For CLSH. The Family Practice APRN Is Responsible For Provision Of Medical Care And The Emergency Treatment Of Patients On Assigned Units. This Includes: Perform physical examinations on all patients upon admission to facility and annually. Evaluate, diagnose, treat, and follow-up medical problems on patients. Refer to medical specialists as appropriate for care.

Order laboratory tests, radiological studies, dental work, special diets and medications as indicated by patient's condition. Closely collaborate and discuss patients' conditions with psychiatrists and other members of the treatment team to help in the management of the most appropriate patient care. Advise Administration of special health care needs of patient population and further advise on the requirements for contracting specialty consultations. Regularly attend Medical Staff meetings as scheduled. Perform other duties as determined by the Medical Director. Serves as a resource for nurses and psychiatrists in regards to medical care of patients. Position-Specific Details: Appointment Type:
