We’re looking for a Revenue Tax Auditor Specialist to join our Field Audit Sales Tax Division!Minimum QualificationsSeven years of experience in tax accounting or tax auditing; ORSix years of full-time experience in any field plus twenty-four semester hours in accounting plus four years of experience in tax accounting or tax auditing; ORA bachelor’s degree with twenty-four semester hours in accounting plus four years of experience in tax accounting or tax auditing; ORA bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, management, economics, or statistics plus four years of experience in tax accounting or tax auditing; ORAn advanced degree in accounting, finance, business administration, management, economics, quantitative methods, or statistics, or a Juris Doctorate, plus three years of experience in tax accounting or tax auditing; ORPossession of a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license or a current Louisiana license to practice law plus two years of experience in tax accounting or tax auditing.

Experience Substitution: Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field. Responsible for identifying potential compliance and enforcement initiatives and audit candidates, resulting in recommendations to the Revenue Tax Director and Revenue tax Assistant Directors of the Field Audit Divisions. Responsible for the research, review and qualifying and distribution of audit leads and ensuring that productive audits are followed up. Performs research of state tax law, and information available, both electronic and hard copy to identify material tax issues, tax avoidance measures and areas of non-compliance in all area of Louisiana tax types. Interacts and partners with LDR colleagues involved with compliance and discovery initiatives in other divisions.

Additionally performs analyses of income allocations and apportionment formulas for allocating income and expenses inside and outside of Louisiana; allocation and apportionment trends in other states with similar tax structure. This position will analyze and compare information reported on filed Louisiana returns via summary reports created as well as actual return filed for identification of specific audit candidates and material issues. Position-Specific Details: Appointment Type: Probational, Promotional, Job Appointment, Detail to Special Duty or WAECareer Progression: This position may be filled as a Revenue Tax Auditor Specialist. Compensation: The salary offered will be determined based on qualifications and experience.

Current permanent status classified state employees may be required to accept a probational appointment if selected. If filled as a job appointment, there is a possibility that this position may be converted to a probational appointment should funding become available.
