About The RoleOur Client is seeking an experienced Fabricator to join their Steel Business Unit.Reporting to the Production Manager, you will be responsible for fabricating structural steel components in accordance with detailed workshop drawings and production requirements.This hands-on role involves MIG and Arc welding, gas cutting, drilling, marking out, and assembling structural components to precise specifications.You will play a key role in ensuring quality standards are met while maintaining a strong commitment to Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) practices.Key ResponsibilitiesFabrication & ProductionInterpret detailed workshop drawings and specificationsPrepare surfaces for weldingDrill, mark out, gas cut, and tack weld componentsAccurately set out and position structural componentsMonitor completed components to ensure compliance with drawingsMaintain consistent production output aligned with Labour hour targetsAccurately record time spent on contracts via job sheets and time clock systemsQuality ControlEnsure all finished goods meet required standardsFollow quality control systems to prevent non-conforming productsMonitor and reduce re-workIdentify opportunities for continuous improvement in manufacturing processesEquipment MaintenanceEnsure equipment is safe, reliable, and maintained dailyWhat We’re Looking ForEssentialProven experience in structural fabricationRelevant welding qualifications (AS/NZS 2980:2007)Strong knowledge of modern steel fabrication techniquesAbility to accurately interpret technical drawings and specificationsUnderstanding of Health & Safety legislation in a factory environmentStrong attention to detailGood written and verbal communication skillsAbility to work effectively within a teamDesirable:Previous experience in the structural steel industryQualification in general engineering or equivalent
