Our Jonestown Distribution Center, a 218,000 sq. ft. refrigerated facility operating 24/7, is currently seeking a Yard Jockey/Shunt Driver to join our team. The essential function of this position is to assist in providing timely and safe re-positioning of commercial tractors and trailers to designated areas located on facility property. Shift: B3 Shift (6: 00PM-5: 30AM) working an alternating 3 day-4 day work week (equivalent to working approx. 14-16 days per month)Primary ResponsibilitiesMaintain the daily cross-dock switching operation by switching tractors and trailers to the appropriate locations on company property.
Ensure that the load is safely and correctly placed and is secured by using ropes, chains, and slings to avoid damage to the truck or to the goods. Responsible for tractor and trailer maintenance, performing daily vehicle inspection such as tired, lights, brakes, oil, water and maintaining fuel levels. Participate, support and comply with all health and safety requirements by reporting any accidents, incidents, or equipment damage that occurs. Perform daily yard checks and ensure equipment and facility grounds are organized and in proper working condition.
Perform as backup forklift driver, being able to successfully operate a stand-up forklift to assist in loading and unloading trailers. Complete daily reports accurately and timely; Communicate with other warehouse departments as needed throughout shift.
