We offer a collaborative, high-performing environment where success is achieved by working together.The OpportunitySuperintendent Geology manages the mine geology function of the underground technical department by applying advanced technical knowledge and skills in mine geology as well as manage subordinate work leaders and ensure that decisions are compliant with site policies.What The Role EntailsDay-to-day execution of underground geological functions includingHigh level supervision of the collection of grade/ quality control samples and geological mapping, and collation of this data into appropriate geological information management systems Grade control and geology reports to production and technical teamsHigh level review and supervision of resource infill and grade / quality control drilling programsContribute to and review long term drilling strategyHigh level review and supervision of the collection, compilation and reporting of quality control and quality assurance sample dataHigh level review and supervision of the compilation, analysis and reporting of mine reconciliation reports and communication of findings to production and technical teams Identify, evaluate and resolve short term reconciliation issuesManage the site underground mine geology team and contractorsManage contractor and service providers through the tender process, content of the contract, and monitor the contract deliverables in accordance with company standards Supervise and develop the performance of the team in line with Rio Tinto’s company values, in order to achieve objectives Collaborate and assist with other mine functions as required for geological sampling and drilling activitiesAssist with compliance to Rio Tinto standards for resources, reserves and reconciliationEnsure that the mine geology work complies with these standardsContribute to strategic decision making based on understanding of the Company’s discipline / commodity requirementsWhat You Will Need For This RoleBachelor's degree in Geology and 12 years’ experience in production geology, cave mining preferred, or master’s degree in Geology and 10 years’ experience in production geology.Minimum 10 year’s work experience or otherwise significant practical experience and on the job trainingStrong communication in English with multi-national context, a continuous improvement mindset, and the ability to thrive in fast-paced environments.About UsAs pioneers in mining and metals, we produce materials essential to human progress.Our long history is filled with firsts.
