From the beginning, their dream has been to help people lead creative lives by providing tools to make their do-it-yourself projects beautiful, fun, and easy.
With their first smart cutting machine, they sparked a crafting revolution - and they’re just getting started. After tremendous success in the US and globally, the company is now expanding in Japan, and they’re seeking a talented Sales Leader to grow their footprint in this dynamic market. They are looking for a dynamic Sales Manager who has experience in both Japan's retail online and offline channels and has 3–4 years’ experience working with major e-commerce partners, particularly Amazon and Rakuten etc. Role Focus: Strong distributor experience, but seeking someone with a digital-first mindset, ideally in e-commerce.
Must understand both online and offline channels—offline still important for the Japanese market. Company strategy is shifting towards online; currently significant offline presence, but in two years, likely only 25% of sales will be offline. Responsibilities: Expand company's retail and online presence in Japan. Manage and grow relationships with retailers (Tokyo-focused, plus national reach). Execute sales strategy aligned with global business goals. Contribute as an individual contributor (no team initially). Collaborate closely with the Country Manager and Head of Asia. E-commerce Skills: 3–4 years’ experience working with major e-commerce partners, particularly Amazon and Rakuten.
Able to execute strategic partnerships and negotiate effectively with online platforms. Experience with pricing strategies for online channels. Prefer candidates who have worked with newer brands in e-commerce. Offline Skills: Solid offline channel knowledge to nurture relationships, especially in Japan’s more traditional market. Ability to create channel/account plans that balance online and offline growth. Candidate Profile: Background with consumer electronics or lifestyle hardware brands (e. g. GoPro, DJI, Sonos, Fitbit). Experience scaling sales in Japan, ideally with challenger/early-stage brands. Comfortable working without large team/structure. Fluent Japanese essential; other nationalities with strong Japanese proficiency considered.
Preference for candidates who are dynamic and hands-on. Strong relationship-building skills with major online and offline partners. Willing to learn and roll up their sleeves—Japan business operates like a start-up within a large global company.
