We Go Beyond for A Safer WorldTe Tūranga - The RoleWe're looking for a Surface Mount Technician to join our dynamic Manufacturing team at Tait Communications.In this hands-on technical role, you'll ensure the efficient operation of our Surface Mount Technology (SMT) equipment, maintaining the highest levels of quality, productivity, and reliability. You'll play a key part in diagnosing and resolving equipment issues, analyzing yield and wastage data, performing maintenance and calibration, and leading process improvements across the SMT area.You'll also work closely with other Manufacturing Engineering and Production team members to drive continuous improvement and share your expertise with others. Once you're experienced with our systems, you'll participate in our Manufacturing Call-out Roster, providing critical support to keep production running smoothly.The SMT area operates across three shifts, Day, Afternoon, and Night, with shift and meal allowances for Afternoon and Night shifts. This opportunity is to fill our Afternoon Shift (3 pm to 11 pm)Ō Pūkenga - About YouTo be successful in this role, you'll bring strong technical and problem-solving skills, along with a collaborative and proactive approach to your work.You'll ideally have: Required:Technical qualification or relevant experience in electronic or manufacturing engineering.Mechanical aptitude: an interest in how things work, and an understanding of machinery that will help you as you learn how to troubleshoot and repair complex electro-mechanical systems.Proven experience with SMT production lines, equipment troubleshooting, and maintenance.Strong analytical skills for yield and wastage analysis.Ability to work effectively within a team environment and communicate clearly across departments.A focus on continuous improvement, safety, and quality.Willingness to participate in shift work and the on-call roster.DesirableExperience with process development, optimization, or equipment calibration.Previous experience training others or sharing technical knowledge.Ngā painga - What's in it for you?We're committed to making a difference for communities and helping our people build rewarding careers.
