As an EPeep, you'll work on projects that have a real impact on students' lives and have the freedom, support and resources you need to develop your skills and grow your career. We're looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our Essential Assessment (EA) team, a platform trusted by thousands of schools across Australia for Primary Mathematics and English. You'll play a key role in shaping the future of a product that helps teachers and students succeed every day.As a senior member of the team, you'll use your experience and technical expertise to build, maintain and improve our platform, ensuring it remains reliable and secure. You'll work closely with our Lead Engineer, Product Manager and General Manager, collaborating across teams to deliver high quality, meaningful software that makes a real difference in education.What you will doPlay a key role in developing, improving and maintaining our Essential Assessment software platformDeliver high quality code across projects, using strong judgment to solve complex technical problemsDrive ongoing technical improvement and modernisation of the platform through your workEnsure all software meets standards for quality, security, maintainability, reliability and extensibilityQuickly build a deep understanding of the platform's history, architecture and systemsSupport and mentor more junior developers, offering guidance and constructive feedbackPerform and maintain both automated and manual testing to ensure stability and performanceTroubleshoot and resolve code level issues efficiently and effectivelyCreate clear, concise technical documentation for future reference and team knowledge sharingContribute to a positive, inclusive team culture where everyone feels supported and empoweredAbout you5+ years of professional experience working with PHP and MySQLExperience working with legacy systems, jQuery, AWS and accessibility best practicesProven ability to deliver high quality work independently and consistently, from requirements through to productionStrong communication skills and a collaborative approach to working with cross functional teamsAttention to detail, with a deep care for quality, maintainability and user experienceA trusted, reliable and professional team member who takes pride in their craftEquitable opportunities, growth, and development lie at the heart of how we work at EP.
