General DescriptionThe Swimming Assistant reports to the Primary School Principal and the PE team lead. In this role, the successful candidate will be responsible for the smooth operation of the changing facilities and for supervising students whilst they are at the pool, and provide basic first aid when required.The hours for this position are currently set to (they are subject to change):Tuesdays: 11:15-13:45Wednesday: 11:15-15:15Friday: 11:15-15:15Main responsibilitiesMeet each class as they are handed over by the school bus driver or assistant teacher, making a note of the number of students in that classSupervise the efficient changing into swimwearMonitoring for safe and respectful behaviour, keeping noise low with awareness of being in a public spaceEnsure changing rooms are left tidilyCheck that the children needing a medical kit have brought it with themEnsure jewellery or watches are removed. Accompany students to the poolside to sit ready for registration by the swimming teachersAccompany the other class back to the showers and changing roomsEnsure students shower and change efficientlyEnsure access to a first aid kit for treating minor injuries by applying waterproof plasters where necessary and changing plasters after swimming may be needed. Complete a report sheet for accidents that occur at the pool.
