Job Description
Volunteer Society Nepal (VSN) was founded in 2004 as a non-profit, non-political, and non-religious volunteer organization. Since its establishment, VSN Nepal has successfully implemented community-based volunteer initiatives in Nepal, aiming to support disadvantaged women, children, and communities.Volunteer Society Nepal (VSN) was founded on the belief that we could do more for volunteers, and simultaneously do more for the development of our home-countryDuring the decade-long civil war from 1995, Nepal’s fragile economy was shattered. Already poor families now had even bleaker opportunities for a decent livelihood. Children and women became even more vulnerable to abuse, exploitation, family separation, recruitment for conflict-related purposes, and illegal detention. This merely compounded the issues associated with Nepal’s long history of caste discrimination and social marginalization, which causes immense disparities within society. At the height of the conflict in 2004 we gathered a team of Nepalese development workers, including social activists, and international and national volunteers because we believed we could combat the prevalent shortages of Education, Health, and Women’s Rights in Nepal more efficiently than the existing international organizations. We offer volunteer placements at Nepal’s high Himalayan mountain regions and ancient cultural citiesIf you are looking to volunteer in a rural area far from Western comforts then have a look at the options in the Himalayan Region (Salleri and Okhaldhunga). Or if you prefer to volunteer in the heart of Nepal’s bustling capital then there is lots of work that needs doing in Kathmandu. Or if you want a bit of both then take a look at Pokhara, Dhulikhel, and Banepa.Volunteer Society Nepal offers following volunteering opportunities in NepalTeaching in MonasteryTeaching in SchoolFamily VolunteeringGroup VolunteeringUnder 18 High School GroupFilm and PhotographyWomen’s Education And EmpowermentGap Year VolunteerPre-medical VolunteerTeacher Training ProgramCentre for Disabilities Special EducationConstruction and Manual WorkContent Writing and Social Media VolunteerUniversity Group Volunteer ProgramVOLUNTEERING AT BUDDHIST MONASTERY IN NEPALVolunteering in the Buddhist Monastery program is tailored for individuals who have a keen interest in religious culture and are willing to teach English at the monastery for a minimum of two weeks or more.
