Mō te tūranga | About the roleLead a technically strong and collaborative Transport Planning team.Provide expert advice to senior leaders, councillors, and external partners.Champion regional transport initiatives including FutureProof, UNISA, and the Waikato Regional Transportation Model.Coordinate and support the Regional Transport Committee and FutureProof Public Transport Subcommittee.Manage budgets, work programmes, and contribute to strategic planning.Foster partnerships with iwi, local and central government, and other stakeholders.Mō te tangata | About youYou’ll be an experienced leader with a strong background in Transport Planning and Policy.You’ll bring:Strong communication, strategic thinking, and relationship-building skills.Applied experience with the Land Transport Management Act, RMA, and LGA.Understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and the ability to apply te ao Māori in a local government context.Mō ngā pūkenga | Qualifications and experienceA relevant degree in Transport Planning, Policy, or Environmental Management.At least 3 years’ experience leading teams, ideally in local government.Business case and Project Management qualifications (desirable).Mō te tīma | About the teamAt Waikato Regional Council, we’re committed to building connected communities through smart transport investment.Our Regional Transport Connections directorate leads the way in delivering over $110 million in public transport services over the next six years.These services support more than four million journeys annually.We work in partnership with iwi, local authorities, and central government to shape the future of our region.Join us in making a real difference for current and future generations.Mō mātou | About usWe work hard to care for the mighty Waikato, so current and future generations will benefit from a healthy environment, strong economy, and vibrant communities.Our mahi is as diverse as the region we care for and the people who share it.
