We help generate and liberate structured healthcare data to ensure effective delivery across care teams and health systems bringing #BetterGlobalHealth to patients everyday!Apply today and find plenty of reasons to SMILE!ResponsibilitiesTechnical Leadership & StrategyEstablish, implement, and drive the strategic technical direction of the Health Data Platform Features team by translating business goals into a coherent technical roadmap focused on scalability, reliability, and engineering excellencePartner directly with cross-functional leaders to communicate tradeoffs, set engineering priorities, and report on progressEnsure the engineering team is effectively assigned to development work with a focus on quality, efficiency, and operational excellenceQuality Engineering Leadership Establish and drive the quality engineering strategy for the Health Data Platform, including automated testing, performance testing, and continuous quality improvement practicesImplement scalable QA processes, tools, and frameworks to ensure that all releases meet reliability, security, and compliance expectationsPartner with engineering leads to embed quality gates, testing standards, and defect-prevention practices throughout the SDLCOversee test planning, automated test coverage goals, defect management processes, and post-release quality metricsEnsure tight alignment between development and quality engineering teams to reduce defects, improve release confidence, and accelerate delivery velocityLead and maintain full accountability for the Quality Management System (QMS), ensuring compliance with internal standards and external regulatory or audit requirementsOwn QMS governance, documentation, processes, and continuous improvement initiatives to ensure high-quality, audit-ready engineering practicesChampion a culture of engineering rigor, code quality, and continuous improvementEngineering & Execution OversightManage day-to-day engineering priorities and establish best practices that drive consistent delivery, maintain technical quality, and support organizational goalsEnsure accurate tracking of hours for billing purposes and monitor utilization to meet organizational expectationsDevelop and maintain team KPIs and metrics, providing reporting to management to support decision-making and accountabilityBuild strong partnerships with cross-functional teams across HDP and the broader organization (HR, finance, sales, marketing, etc.)Ensure timely completion of performance reviews with clearly defined goals, competencies, and development plansMentor, coach, and support team members to foster high performance and professional growthPromote a positive team culture grounded in respect, professionalism, and engineering excellenceRequirement5+ years in technical program leadership or engineering management, ideally rooted in a software engineering background5+ years leading high-performing software development and/or quality engineering teamsStrong SDLC expertise; background in healthcare IT or high-growth tech is preferredDeep understanding of modern engineering practices, cloud technologies, DevOps principles, test automation, and scalable architecture patternsAbility to guide architectural decision-making and ensure technical and quality excellence across teamsStrong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving capabilitiesDemonstrated ability to attract, develop, and retain top engineering and quality talentProven success managing executive stakeholders and driving alignment across cross-functional teamsExceptional communication and negotiation skills, including the ability to influence both technical and non-technical audiencesExcellent administrative and operational management skills to ensure predictable delivery and high-quality outcomesExperience with HL7, FHIR, and/or Healthtech is a strong plusSome of the benefits we offer: Remote Work Environment Flexible Time Away From Work Policy including PTO, Personal and Sick Days Competitive Salary and Health/Medical Benefits RRSP/TFSA/401K Employee Contribution Life and Disability Employee Assistance Program FHIR Study Program and Skillsoft Learning Super HAPI Fun ClubSmile's core values include respect, inclusion, embracing our differences, and celebrating shared values because our people are the foundation of our success.
