OverviewFWI is building a team to support Puerto Rico Department of Housing (PRDOH) Communication Services program for the Community Development Block Grant for Disaster Recovery (CDBG-DR) and Community Development Block Grant for Mitigation (CDBG-MIT). The Technical Writer will develop project briefs, write engaging content for multiple digital platforms, and provide diverse digital content including images and video to support client objectives.FWI has been recognized as a Top Workplace by the Washington Post in 2024 and 2025, offering excellent growth opportunities in a collaborative environment.Position is contingent upon contract award**Work Schedule and Location:Hybrid: This part-time hybrid position will work Monday through Friday, 23 hours per week, with some onsite work in San Juan, Puerto Rico.Responsibilities Research industry-related topics, identify gaps in client content, and develop original copy for ads, social platforms, articles, and various outreach materials Write compelling copy that promotes client projects and programs across multiple formats including webpages, podcasts, blogs, social media, e-books, slogans, videos, webinars, and other digital platforms Prepare and publish articles, reports, and long-form content that maintain brand voice while engaging target audiences Edit and fact-check content generated by other departments to ensure accuracy, consistency, and quality Liaise with clients from concept to completion, developing project scoping and creating clear briefs that ensure client needs are projected Understand targeted audiences and write content that interests and engages them with appropriate messaging and emotion Collaborate with design teams and other departments to optimize articles, images, charts, and other content elements Shape the tone used in emails, banners, brochures, and other outreach materials to maintain brand consistency Provide a wide range of digital content including images, video scripts, and multimedia content as requested Conduct keyword research and apply SEO guidelines to optimize content for search engines and user discovery Suit content styles and approaches according to client purpose and communication objectives Work collaboratively with account management, creative teams, and other agencies to review content impact and effectiveness Create and oversee reports on content performance, becoming knowledgeable with client industry to monitor metrics and ensure content remains current and relevant Identify fresh and interesting information for content that aligns with strategic communication goals Review and proofread final products to ensure they are free from errors and reflect client specifications before submission Educate yourself about client industries and their audiences to create informed, relevant content Work in collaboration with team members to deliver content that meets deadlines and brand requirements Required Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, Public Relations, or a closely related field 5+ years of experience in copywriting and content creation across digital and traditional media Excellent writing and editing skills with a keen eye for detail and strong command of grammar, style, and tone Hands-on experience with content management systems and digital publishing platforms Experience creating both large-piece content (articles, reports, whitepapers) and smaller text content for traditional and social media platforms IT skills and understanding of HTML, WordPress, or similar content management systems Creative thinking, strong listening, and interpersonal skills with understanding of client needs and ability to develop effective project briefs Excellent writing abilities in different styles and adaptable to other people's direction Good research and analytical skills with organizational abilities to manage multiple projects and deadlines Ability to work independently with flexibility and attention to detail for proofreading Understanding of digital marketing, search engine optimization (SEO), keyword research, and content optimization Creative approach to generating new ideas for projects and communicating messages innovatively Ability to identify key messages that communicate desired emotions and engage target audiences Experience working collaboratively with design teams, other departments, and creative teams to ensure visual elements complement written content Advanced verbal and writing skills in both Spanish and English (bilingual required) FWI is an Equal Opportunity Employer, including disability/vets.
