Job DescriptionThe Area Operations and Maintenance Department is seeking to appoint a Maintenance Technician. This is a permanent full-time position in Tonga, based in Nuku'alofa, Liahona High School, Building N and the successful candidate will be required to work from this location. This position reports to the Facilities Manager.ResponsibilitiesThe Maintenance Technician will help provide and maintain a range of facilities including meetinghouses, schools, administration facilities, grounds, and mission quarters, which provide Church members places where they can worship, learn, pray, make, and renew sacred covenants.Specific duties include servicing, repairing or replacement of key facility systems, minor plumbing and electrical repairs, painting and plastering, carpentry, window, and door repairs, tiling and general handyperson duties. You may be required to travel within Tonga.QualificationsAt least 4 years handyman experience or facilities / property maintenance experience; ORA current trade certificate, diploma, commenced a BYU pathways course or related other, OR One year of trade school, or two years of apprenticeship training, or more than 4 years of trade- related experienceA valid, current driver’s license (essential)A great attitude, attention to detail, and proven customer service skillsExperience in operating machinery, equipment, and a range of tools relevant to maintenance workHealth and safety experience especially with handling cleaning agents and chemicalsThe ability to lift and carry 10kg regularly, climb step ladders with ease and work at heightsHigh integrity and uses wise judgmentA commitment to ongoing education and development, both technically and professionallyA good command of the English languageProficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams) with the ability to quickly learn new applications. Skilled in basic network troubleshooting, and report submission.The applicants must have legal right to work in TongaA police background check may be required.
