Job SummaryThe Category Manager will be responsible for driving the overall sales performance, market share, and profitability of the assigned product category. The role requires strategic thinking, strong analytical capability, and the ability to translate consumer insights and market trends into actionable business plans. This position will lead category planning, pricing strategy, and channel activation initiatives while ensuring effective budget management and alignment with brand and business objectives.Key ResponsibilitiesTranslate brand strategies into clear and actionable category plans for the assigned business unit.Develop channel-specific activation strategies that support both brand and commercial objectives.Ensure all communication and marketing plans are converted into effective sales tools and materials for the field team.Provide regular, insight-driven updates on category performance, including market share, distribution, and emerging trends.Analyze consumer behavior, competitive landscape, and financial data to support decision-making and optimize category initiatives.Prepare periodic financial and operating reports and provide meaningful interpretation and recommendations.Lead the implementation and monitoring of trade and merchandising programs, ensuring efficient use of merchandising and trade-related budgets.Deliver weekly updates on campaign executions, promo packs, competitor activities, audit findings, and other relevant developments.Oversee category forecasting and budgeting to ensure accuracy, alignment, and operational readiness.Manage CAPEX, category-related investments, and project evaluations—including by-products and toller performance assessments.Work closely with cross-functional teams (Sales, Trade Marketing, Supply Chain, R&D, and Finance) to ensure seamless execution.Support and develop direct reports, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and performance excellence.Job QualificationsFMCG experience in sales, trade marketing, or category management.At least 5 years of experience in people management.Must come from an FMCG background.Experience in cross-country or cross-department coordination is an advantage.Strong negotiation, ExCom-level presentation, and influencing skills.Demonstrates strong leadership potential and the ability to work effectively with diverse teams.Highly analytical, organized, and results-driven.
