Coordinates video production for specified sections of University athletics ensuring best standards for nationally televised events. Produces, edits, and finalizes videos. Develops and assists in video content production. Athletics AdministrationThe University of Pittsburgh’s Broadcast and Video Department is seeking a qualified Assistant Director of Video Production – Pitt Studios to support the video production needs of Pitt Athletics. This role will report to the Assistant Athletic Director of Broadcast and Video Production and collaborate closely with the Pitt Studios team. Serve as a camera operator, producer, and editor within the post-production department.

Support internal and external video requests for the Athletic Department as directed by the Pitt Studios team, with a primary focus on creating content for Pitt’s 19 varsity athletic teams. This role works closely with team counterparts to manage the creation, organization, and distribution of video content. Responsibilities include equipment setup and teardown at various locations, as well as supporting pregame and postgame video needs as assigned. The Assistant Director is expected to work both independently and collaboratively with the production team.

Collaborate with full-time post-production staff, interns, and freelancers to ensure proper video coverage of home and away competitions. Coordinate with post-production, Strategic Communications, and Marketing to develop a comprehensive coverage and content schedule to be shared with coaches and athletic department staff. Support all aspects of post-production within the athletic department. This role requires the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and may include oversight of an intern.

The Assistant Director is expected to foster creativity, contribute to the growth of the department, and actively seek out new video concepts and industry trends to elevate Pitt Athletics’ video content year over year. Essential FunctionsAssist with short- and long-term production planning. Shoot and edit internal and external video projects. Oversee video coverage for assigned sports, including travel for away and championship events. Support post-production operations and help manage the video production budget. Operate cameras, edit content, create basic graphics, and handle equipment setup and teardown for Pitt Athletics facilities.

This position plays a vital role in enhancing the Pitt Athletics brand, supporting recruiting efforts, and aligning with coaching philosophies in a fast-paced Power Five, Division I collegiate environment. Physical EffortThe position requires lifting and moving of heavy video equipment up to 50 pounds. Must be able to sit or stand for prolonged periods of time.
