Job Description

We are looking for a dedicated Urban Planning Specialist to join ourteam and provide technical support at a District Planning function in Urban PlanningDepartment within Local Planning Authority. The ideal candidate will have a solidfoundation in urban planning principles and a minimum of 5 years of experience in the field.This role supports a team of urban planners and other multidisciplinary fields relevant toplanning by conducting various planning tasks, assisting in projects development, support intechnical reviews of private developers’ applications and proposals, collaborate withstakeholders, review deliverables of urban planning projects, contributing to communityengagement efforts, etc. This position is a yearly-contract based, with an option for renewal.Key Responsibilities:-Project Support: Assist in the planning, coordination and implementation of urban developmentprojects, providing technical input and research support- Review reports, technical documents, and offering feedback and recommendations,ensure they’re delivered on time from all the reviewer in one sheet- Review Master Plans (Concept, Details) for large and medium real state developerand offering feedback and recommendations per regulations in place, ensure they’redelivered on time from all the reviewer in one sheet.- Review Transection and merging and subdivision plots Change Request and offeringfeedback and recommendations per regulations in place, ensure they’re delivered ontime from all the reviewer in one sheet.-Data Analysis: Collect, analyze, and interpret land use, demographic, andenvironmental data to inform planning decisions.-Community Engagement: Participate in public meetings and workshops, helping tofacilitate discussions and gather community feedback.-Technical Documentation: Prepare reports, presentations, and planning documentsfor internal use and stakeholder review.-Collaboration: Work alongside senior planners and other stakeholders, ensuringalignment on job’s goals and objectives.-Regulatory Research: Stay informed about local, regional, and national regulationsimpacting urban planning, assisting in the development of policy recommendations,understanding project specifications and developing timelines and budgets.-Software Support: Knowledge in GIS and other planning software to create mapsand visualizations that support project goals.Technical Skills:-Proficiency in urban planning support software (e.g., AutoCAD, ArcGIS).-Basic understanding of zoning laws, land use regulations, urban codes, and relevantpolicies.-Familiarity with urban design principles and sustainable development practices.Professional Skills:-Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to conveyinformation clearly to various audiences.-Collaborative mindset with the ability to work effectively in a team-orientedenvironment.-Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.-Ability to manage time and prioritize tasks effectively in a fast-paced setting.Qualifications:-Bachelor’s degree in Urban Planning, or a related field.-A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in urban planning or a related area.-Professional certification is a plus, but not required.-Familiarity with legislations, policies and regulations impacting urban planning inSaudi Arabia.
