This includes maintaining customer relationships, consulting with the customer on their routing, optimisation, performance and use of the products, integrating with the customer’s onboard and cloud IT systems, configuring the product for use by the customer and coordinating outsourcers who aid with the above.About the positionWithin the Customer Operations department, we are looking for a Vessel Performance/ Naval Engineer to provide expert analysis and support to the rest of the departments and the client directly. This includes providing thorough analysis on client requests, supporting product development with subject-matter expertise, preparing reports on performance and data quality, flagging and resolving issues that may affect customer value escalated by support teams, and consulting customers directly on how to best get value out of their data and our products for the performance of their vessels.We are looking for a capable, knowledgeable and domain expert individual willing to lead the growth of our performance and monitoring tools.Main responsibilitiesCo-develop models for ship propulsion, seakeeping and maneuvering for steady and unsteady conditions“Sanity check” of models, using alternative methods (analytical / empirical)Strong understanding of ship hydrodynamics, propulsion systems, and performance under varying weather and load conditions.Proven ability to apply engineering principles to validate complex data or AI model outputs.Familiarity with shipboard data systems (engine monitoring, fuel consumption, navigation sensors).Solid understanding of data quality, anomaly detection, and model evaluation techniques.Job requirementsThe ideal candidate will haveNaval/Mechanical/Marine Engineering backgroundExperience as Technical Superintendent would be considered an assetAt least 4 years of work experience in a similar roleWork experience in the commercial shipping industry, preferably in a Performance department, is highly desiredFluency in English, both written and verbalAbility to work in fast-paced environments and meet set deadlinesExcellent communication, problem-solving and management skillsHighly self-motivated, accountable and committedProcess Optimization/Automation mentalityResults-oriented mindsetAbility to work in cross-functional teamsNice to haveFamiliarity with coating technologies and their impact on hull resistance.Experience in machine learning model validation and performance curve development.Understanding of data reliability assessment and preprocessing techniques (filtering, outlier detection, signal integrity).Experience in sea trials, performance testing, and sensor calibration analysis.Strong communication skills — ability to translate complex technical insights into actionable recommendations for clients and internal stakeholdersWhat we offerYou will be part of a dynamic team focused on delivering results and continuous improvement while disrupting the industry, and will also receive:Competitive remuneration package: Skill & experience-based salary and eligibility for additional employee benefits.Health Package: Private health insurance coverage and mental health - therapist benefitPaid leaves: emergency and medical leaves.Learning and Development Package: Access to courses platform and eligibility for seminars, conferences and workshopsRemote Flexibility: Great office space in the heart of Athens with hybrid option.At DeepSea, we are looking for people who share our values and are aligned with our mission.
