Newly Set-up Tokyo Office Exclusive Role ( USD 100-133K base+ ~100% target bonus)Firm: A leading global private equity investment platform (sector-focused; non-disclosed)Location: Tokyo, JapanOverviewOur client, a global private equity investor with a long-standing presence across North America, Europe, and Asia-Pacific, is in the process of establishing a new office in Tokyo in 2025.The firm invests in technology-enabled infrastructure and essential platforms supporting next-generation connectivity and digital transformation across various markets.The Asia team is currently headquartered in Southeast Asia and is preparing to expand its Japan coverage significantly over the next several years.This position represents the second investment professional in the Tokyo office, following a candidate supported by XG Partners who will join the firm in January 2026.This is a rare opportunity to join an international investment platform during its Japan build-out phase. The associate will collaborate directly with senior leadership based across Asia and North America and engage in cross-border transaction execution and strategic value creation.Key ResponsibilitiesParticipate across the full investment cycle, including sourcing, due diligence, financial modelling, valuation, and execution of mid- to large-cap control or minority investments.Conduct company and sector analysis across technology, infrastructure-adjacent sectors, and other strategic themes relevant to the firm’s investment focus.Build and maintain financial models (including LBO and operational forecasting).Support senior team members in deal structuring and execution in coordination with regional and global investment teams.Contribute to post-investment monitoring and value creation initiatives.Coordinate cross-border workflows with overseas offices.Engage with senior executives, advisors, consultants, and financial institutions throughout deal processes.Candidate ProfileRequired2–5 years of experience in investment banking (M&A), private equity, infrastructure investing, or real estate PE.Solid financial modelling and analytical skills; LBO exposure preferred but not mandatory.Strong interest in technology-driven businesses, infrastructure-related sectors, or mission-critical platforms.LanguageJapanese: Native or near-nativeEnglish: Strong business-level proficiencyPreferredBackground in TMT, infrastructure, real assets, or related fields.Experience in buyout transactions or execution-heavy environments.Comfort working in a multinational, fast-paced team.Personal AttributesCollaborative, humble, and highly motivated.Able to work closely with senior professionals across global offices.Thrives in a lean, entrepreneurial team environment.Career Path & CultureClear track to senior roles as the Tokyo office scales over time.Highly international, low-ego culture with direct exposure to global leadership.Opportunity to engage in both Japan-focused and broader APAC transactions.Exceptional timing to join a strategic growth market for the firm.CompensationAssociate level:Approx.
