The captain will hog the headlines but there was a strong return from Bellingham and an assured debut for Quansah

Albania 0-2 England: player ratings for Thomas Tuchel’s side

Dean Henderson Not a save to make in first half but then called into action by Arbër Hoxha’s curling effort. Sliding tackle on Qazim Laci showed his reading of the game is astute. 6/10 Jarell Quansah Debutant tested by Albania’s biggest threat in Hoxha. Played more centrally to begin with but moved wider after Saka came on. 7 Related: England win every group game without conceding after Kane’s double sinks Albania John Stones Moved into midfield when in possession, as he has done before with Manchester City. Sometimes lacked urgency on the ball and experiment was shelved at half-time. 6 Dan Burn A nuisance at set pieces, as always, but may be an alternative to Stones at the back rather than his partner. Loose pass in second half almost led to an opener from Albania. 6 Nico O’Reilly Another assured display from 20-year-old after first cap against Serbia. Saka failed to make the most of a gorgeous backheel over the Albania defence. Left-back spot is his to lose already. 7 Adam Wharton His first start for his country. A bit careless on the ball but his inswinging corners were a threat. A useful tempo-setter for Tuchel to have against teams who drop deep. Booked for a rash challenge. 6 Declan Rice Deliveries from corners and free-kicks caused problems. Had freedom to roam on the left of midfield but was offside when the ball arrived in shooting positions. Given well-earned rest after an hour. 6 Jude Bellingham Operated in an advanced position on the right and also did plenty of dirty work. Showed flashes of quality and scuffed a shot over. Replaced late on by Rogers, his competition, after being booked. 7 Jarrod Bowen Had England’s best chance of first half, his shot well saved by Thomas Strakosha. With Quansah hanging back, he had to provide width on the right but his crosses from the touchline were hit and miss. Taken off with 15 to go. 6 Harry Kane The difference-maker with his 77th and 78th goals for his country. The first a typical poacher’s finish and the second a classy header after peeling away from his marker. At 32, he’s only getting better and England have every chance next summer with him up top. 8 Eberechi Eze Struggled to get into the game from the left. Had a presentable chance when set up by Bellingham but Strakosha denied him. Rashford made much more of an impact in his place. 5 Substitutes: Phil Foden (for Rice 63) Was bright and combined well with Kane in more familiar role, 6; Bukayo Saka (for Eze 63) Spurned chances but his corner provided opener, 6; Marcus Rashford (for Bowen 75) Lively after coming on and set up Kane’s second with superb cross to back post, 7; Elliot Anderson (for Wharton 75) Looks established already, 6; Morgan Rogers (for Bellingham 84) Not enough time to affect things, 6.
