Goodbye June trailer drops with emotional Netflix fans saying the same thing

Netflix subscribers have been left in floods of tears after watching the trailer for a heart-wrenching new Christmas film penned by Kate Winslet's son. Goodbye June is the much-anticipated festive drama that has secured an impressive cast including Dame Helen Mirren , Kate Winslet and Timothy Spall. Taking place in the run-up to Christmas, a mother of four grown-up children and wife to their "exasperating father" is admitted to hospital, forcing the family to confront complicated dynamics and the prospect of losing her. "But their quick-witted mother, June, orchestrates her decline on her own terms - with biting humour, blunt honesty, and a lot of love", the official synopsis teases. The deeply moving trailer makes it abundantly clear that family tensions reach boiling point when June becomes seriously unwell. From Winslet's character snapping at her dad, played by Spall, to "shut up" after he cracks an inappropriate gag, to her sister, played by Andrea Riseborough, creating a schedule so they don't "overlap". Heartstopper star Fisayo Akinade, who plays a nurse, tells one of the siblings: "Families are hard. That's why I make sure people get good goodbyes." Mirren's June quips that she wants to appear "presentable" as she's "never died before. I want to look nice when it happens". She then shares a touching moment: "Being part of this family is my biggest adventure.. "I love you all so much. But I love you twice as much when you love each other." Viewers have rushed to respond to the newly dropped trailer, confessing that Goodbye June has already reduced them to tears. "Welp, I certainly wasn't expecting to be bawling at my desk at 10:30 in the morning, but here we are", one emotional viewer posted. Another commented: "I'm not crying, you are" while a third admitted: "My tears already cover my eyes just because of this trailer. The full movie will make cost a lot more for sure." Meanwhile, another user confessed: "Sobbing at the trailer is not looking good for me I'll need to watch at home." Goodbye June is truly a family affair behind the scenes as well, with Winslet both starring in and directing the film, and her son Joe Anders penning the screenplay. Goodbye June premieres on Friday, December 12, in cinemas and on Wednesday, December 24, on Netflix.
