Southeast Public Health board tells Oglaza to reconsider closure plan

It states the staff plans came after “a comprehensive assessment of … office locations, service usage, and occupancy costs.

“Community needs, evolution of service delivery models, and workforce preservation were also evaluated,” the summary states.

“The findings from this assessment indicated that several leased office locations were being underutilized, and that cost savings from terminating these leases could be reinvested back into the agency to fund innovative and effective ways of offering programs and services. This approach will protect core public health programs and services while enhancing the long-term sustainability of our agency.”

The summary continues by stating the Cloyne closure would “not affect public health operations” in the area and no clinics had been operated in the building, a former home.

The board also debated financial matters after a report showing the former Lanark, Leeds, and Grenville District Health Unit area had recorded a deficit. The former Hastings Prince Edward Public Health and Kingston, Frontenac, Lennox and Addington Public Health areas had surpluses.
