I was overwhelmed planning a trip to Japan with my kids. A group tour was the solution.

I was overwhelmed planning a trip to Japan with my kids. A group tour was the solution.

When deciding where to go for our summer vacation, my children were adamant that we should go to Japan. My 10-year-old son is a huge fan of anime and ninjas. My 14-year-old daughter loves big cities like New York and longed to experience modern and cosmopolitan Tokyo. It seemed like a good choice that everyone would enjoy, but I was still hesitant to book plane tickets.Although I have traveled extensively around the world and have always wanted to visit Japan, the thought of planning a trip there was overwhelming. Eventually, my children wore me down and convinced me that we should head east to the Land of the Rising Sun. To quell my fears about planning a trip that would run smoothly, I booked a group tour to Japan, combined with extra days with just my family at the beginning and end. It was a great compromise. Before I had kids, I traveled extensively and without much planning. That had to change when I became responsible for creating plans that my entire family would enjoy, and I had to do it during peak travel times when the kids were out of school. Japan, with its notoriously confusing train system, strict and unfamiliar social rules, endless possibilities for places to visit, and language barriers, seemed especially daunting.Every time I sat down to start planning our trip, I became bogged down trying to figure out where to go beyond the big cities of Tokyo and Kyoto and how to get there. I knew I wanted to spend some time outside the main cities in Japan. There were so many options from islands to gorgeous hikes to choose from, and each place looked better than the next. While that's not a bad problem to have, I was paralyzed with indecision.Additionally, one of the things my children and I were looking forward to in Japan was riding bullet trains. However, before I started digging into the details, I hadn't realized there were so many different types of trains to choose from. Although I've taken trains on five continents, I'm used to there being a single national company rather than the 100-plus rail companies that exist in Japan.Although I often enjoy planning trips, planning this one became a chore. Even after weeks of trying to put together a semblance of a trip, I hadn't made much progress. Not wanting to give up, I began exploring alternatives to planning the trip on my own. I was relieved to find a small group tour to Japan focused on families through Intrepid Travel. I was excited to have found an option that would take care of the hard part of planning for me. The tour would take us from Tokyo to Kyoto with several stops in between. Stops included the historically significant city of Hiroshima and the picturesque mountain town of Hanokki, which I probably would not have visited on my own.Having someone take care of details like booking trains and getting a built-in cultural and language translator allowed me to focus on my kids and enjoy my trip. Not every detail of the trip was exactly as I had planned it. For example, I probably wouldn't have picked all of the same hotels. I may have chosen to visit some attractions at night instead of during the very hot days. However, giving up some control was well worth the trade-off of enjoying myself instead of stressing over every detail. As a busy working Mom, I was relieved to have found a solution that allowed my family to have a great trip to Japan by outsourcing most of the work and saving my sanity.Although the tour I booked included many must-do activities in Japan, it didn't cover everything my kids and I wanted to do in Japan. To compensate, I added a few days in Japan at the beginning and end of the tour. We stayed in Tokyo for a few days before the tour began. We explored places like Shibuya Scramble Crossing, an iconic pedestrian crossing where upward of 1,000 people cross at the same time from all directions, and Tokyo Disney. We also added a few days in Osaka, near where the tour ended, to the end of the tour. There, we explored the city and made a trip to Universal Studios Japan.Crafting a trip that utilized a hybrid approach, combining a tour with free days on either end, wound up being the best of both worlds. I will probably use the approach again when planning my next trip.

Is Luka Doncic Playing Tonight? Where to Watch Lakers vs Warriors Preseason Game

The Lakers’ long injury report includes forward Adou Thiero. The rookie is not even participating in the training sessions as things stand due to a knee injury and will most likely not be available on Sunday. Joining the former Arkansas standout is veteran Maxi Kleber. The 33-year-old big man is on a day-to-day basis due to a quadriceps issue. Although, according to ESPN, he did some individual work on Tuesday, it’s safe to say he won’t be entering the court on Sunday. Although the Lakers will be without several of their players, there is still a lot of optimism around Southern California. The trio of Austin Reaves, Marcus Smart, and Luka Doncic might play together tonight. However, that’s a mere speculation for now, given that the Slovenian superstar is a game-day decision for JJ Redick and Co. Nonetheless, that’s all for the injury report, as now you might be wondering where to watch this game, right? Don’t worry, we’ve got you covered. Where to watch the Lakers vs the Warriors preseason matchup? Last time out, the Golden State Warriors took home a convincing 111-103 win over the Los Angeles Lakers. This marked LA’s second defeat in the preseason, and they will be looking to change that tonight at the Crypto.com Arena despite missing some key names. So, here’s where you can catch the action live within the United States: Date: 12th September, Sunday Time: 6:30 p.m. PT/ 9:30 p.m. ET Where to Watch: Spectrum Sportsnet, NBA TV Who do we think will win round two? Well, that’s a bit tricky. While it would’ve been another W for the Golden State if they had Stephen Curry and Jimmy Butler, that’s not the case. Both superstars are expected to miss tonight’s clash in Los Angeles. That means with Austin Reaves and Marcus Smart returning, the Purple & Gold might just have an upper hand this time. That is, without taking into account that there’s a slight chance we might see Luka Doncic in action, who participated in the team practice recently. So, if we’re to pick a team, it would be the Lakers, as not only do they have a much more star-studded lineup this time around, but also because they will be hungry to get their first preseason win, especially in front of their home crowd, as we await tip-off.

А не страдания на коврике под «Eye of the Tiger». 2.

Punjab govt secures historic ‘Saudi Investment Deal’ to transform province’s economic landscape

Maryam Nawaz and Prince Mansoor bin Muhammad bin Saad Al Saud witness signing of landmark MoU at Badshahi Mosque’s Alamgiri Gate Saudi investors express interest in seven key sectors including real estate, hospitality, mining, healthcare, logistics, and agriculture CM vows to make Punjab an industrial hub, offering full facilitation to foreign investors LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif on Sunday announced that her government’s sustained efforts to attract Saudi investment had borne fruit, as a historic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the Punjab government and the Pak-Saudi Joint Business Council, marking a major breakthrough in bilateral economic cooperation. The landmark MoU was signed at a grand ceremony held in front of the historic Alamgiri Gate of Badshahi Mosque, attended by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif and Chairman of the Pak-Saudi Joint Business Council Prince Mansoor bin Muhammad bin Saad Al Saud. The agreement, officials said, opens new avenues for Saudi investment across multiple sectors in Punjab. Speaking on the occasion, Maryam Nawaz said the Saudi investors had expressed keen interest in investing across seven major sectors in Punjab’s Special Economic Zones and Industrial Zones, including real estate development, hospitality, healthcare infrastructure, mining, minerals, transport, logistics, and agriculture. She added that both sides would also explore joint ventures in livestock and aquaculture, sectors she described as “critical to Punjab’s long-term food and export security.” “Punjab is the best place to invest. We want to make the province an industrial hub by providing every facility and institutional support to Saudi investors,” the Chief Minister said, adding that her government’s economic vision prioritised ease of doing business and investor confidence. Maryam Nawaz emphasised that Punjab’s natural and mineral resources were “real economic treasures” that could drive sustainable growth if developed through strategic foreign partnerships. She reiterated that her administration was committed to fully utilizing these resources to uplift the provincial economy and generate employment. Members of the Saudi delegation expressed satisfaction over the Chief Minister’s economic vision, lauding her proactive approach to promoting investment-friendly policies. They noted that Punjab’s infrastructure, market potential, and strategic location made it a preferred destination for Saudi investors looking to expand operations in South Asia. During the discussions, the Chief Minister assured that the Punjab government’s focal investment agency would remain in constant communication with Saudi companies and investors to ensure smooth facilitation and coordination. To accelerate the implementation of the Pak-Saudi investment agreement, Maryam Nawaz announced the adoption of a fast-track process, replacing the conventional timeline-based procedures to ensure immediate and effective execution of projects. “This partnership will not only strengthen economic ties between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia but also bring prosperity and development to Punjab,” she said, reaffirming her government’s commitment to turning Punjab into the country’s leading economic engine.

Senate GOP nukes Biden-era rule smothering coal production

Republicans in the Senate voted Wednesday to blow up a Biden-era rule that locked up thousands of acres for future coal leasing in the Powder River Basin, a region home to an arsenal of the nation’s coal reserves that spans across Montana and Wyoming. The Powder River Basin provided about 43% of U.S. coal in 2019, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration. Though the Biden administration blocked coal leasing in the key region through a last-minute rule, the Senate passed legislation Wednesday that overturns former President Joe Biden’s ban on coal development opportunities in the Basin. “Today’s passage of my legislation to remove Biden’s anti-coal rule is a massive win for Montana that sets a precedent for the nation,” Republican Montana Sen. Steve Daines told the Daily Caller News Foundation. “The American people have rejected the left’s radical climate hysteria and removing this harmful rule will help protect our energy dominance and our national security.” Republican Montana Sens. Daines and Tim Sheehy along with Republican Montana Reps. Troy Downing and Ryan Zinke introduced the Congressional Review Act Resolution in July and it passed the House on Sept. 3. H.J.Res.104 passed the Senate by a 52-47 vote on Wednesday. The legislation will now move to President Donald Trump’s desk for signature. “What we’re doing today is righting a wrong,” Daines said from the Senate floor Wednesday, arguing that the Biden administration’s move was a “midnight rule” issued after the election and without the support of the state affected. Trump has been moving to bolster coal through multiple executive orders and by repealing several Biden-era actions that stifled the energy resource. Notably, the Trump administration most recently reversed the Biden-era block of the Alaska Ambler Road project Monday. Biden vowed to shut coal “plants down all across America” and imposed stringent regulations on the industry, while pushing for less time-tested and intermittent energy sources like solar and offshore wind. “I’m proud to see my bill to overturn the Biden Administration’s outright ban on coal leasing in the Powder River Basin pass the Senate today. H.J. Res. 104 will unleash Montana-made energy, bolstering our national security and ensuring Montanans have access to the affordable, reliable energy they need to thrive for generations to come,” Downing said Wednesday. “I am grateful to Senator Daines for his leadership and to my fellow delegation members for standing side by side with me in championing this legislation. I look forward to watching President Trump sign this bill into law and usher in a new age of American energy dominance.” Content created by The Daily Caller News Foundation is available without charge to any eligible news publisher that can provide a large audience. Super Eagles get major boost as CAF unveils new 2026 World Cup qualification criteria

CAF has revised its qualification format for the 2026 FIFA World Cup after Eritrea’s withdrawal, giving Nigeria new hopeResults against bottom teams in every group will no longer count for second-placed rankingsA win for the Super Eagles against Benin could revive Nigeria’s chances of making the 2026 World Cup playoffs The Super Eagles of Nigeria have received a major boost in their bid to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup after the Confederation of African Football (CAF) announced a change in the qualification criteria for second-placed teams. This adjustment has given Nigeria renewed hope of making it to the playoffs after their chances initially appeared slim. CAF adjusts qualification format after Eritrea’s withdrawal Nigeria’s playoff hopes were previously dashed when it became mathematically impossible for the former African champions to finish among the four best second-placed teams. However, CAF’s recent circular confirmed a tweak to the qualification rules following Eritrea’s withdrawal from Group E. Under the new criteria, results against the bottom team in each group will no longer count when ranking second-placed teams. This is meant to ensure fairness, as Group E now has only five teams due to Eritrea’s exit. According to ESPN, only matches played against the top five teams in each group will be used for comparison, with the usual FIFA tie-breaking rules, such as points, goal difference, and goals scored, applied. In Group E’s case, all results will count since there’s no sixth team to exclude. This change means the rankings will now be recalculated to reflect the updated method, which could see some second-placed teams, including Nigeria, benefit significantly. Nigeria back in the World Cup race The Super Eagles, currently sitting on 14 points in Group C, have one match remaining in their qualifying campaign, a decisive clash against Benin in Uyo, Daily Post reports. Before CAF’s rule change, Nigeria’s maximum possible 17 points would not have been enough to secure a playoff spot, as several other teams had already surpassed that tally. But with the deduction of points gained from matches against the last-placed teams across all groups, the standings are now being reshuffled. The recalculated system favours the Super Eagles, who are likely to edge closer to the playoff zone if they beat Benin in their final game. Gabon, Cameroon, Madagascar, and DR Congo currently lead the pack among potential runners-up, but with the new rule, Nigeria’s points and goal difference may put them back in contention. Fresh lifeline for the Super Eagles For Nigeria, this development could not have come at a better time as their qualification hopes were hanging by a thread, especially with South Africa and Benin ahead in Group C. However, CAF’s revised method opens a new route, one that rewards consistency against stronger opposition rather than dominance over weaker teams. It means that Nigeria’s efforts in the tougher matches now carry more weight. If the Super Eagles defeat Benin in Uyo, their points could rise to 15 after deductions, keeping them in a strong position for one of the four playoff slots. The final rankings will depend on results from other groups. Benin captain sends warning to Nigeria Earlier, Legit.ng reported that Benin Republic captain Steve Mounie has declared that the Cheetahs are in Uyo to defeat the Super Eagles, setting the tone for what promises to be a fiercely contested 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying decider on Tuesday. The Cheetahs, coached by former Nigeria boss Gernot Rohr, are currently top of Group C with 17 points from nine matches, and only need to avoid defeat to book their ticket to the World Cup. TTAP urges dialogue to defuse Pak-Afghan tensions, seeks joint Parliament session

Achakzai-led opposition alliance’s meeting urges government to convene joint Parliament session on security Warns centre against any interference in KP affairs could worsen the province’s instability PML-N’s Irfan Siddiqui slams TTAP for ignoring terrorists and maligning security forces ISLAMABAD: The Tehreek-e-Tahafuz Ayeen-e-Pakistan (TTAP)—a multi-party opposition alliance—on Sunday called for resolving the escalating Pakistan–Afghanistan tensions through dialogue, urging the government to convene a joint session of Parliament to take the nation into confidence on regional security and foreign policy matters. In a statement issued after a high-level meeting in Islamabad, the alliance said, “It is time for prudence and sagacity to take charge to resolve the prevailing tensions between Pakistan and Afghanistan through dialogue and understanding.” The meeting, chaired by Mahmood Khan Achakzai, reviewed the overall political and foreign situation and discussed the opposition’s future strategy. Those in attendance included PTI’s Salman Akram Raja and Asad Qaiser, Awam Pakistan’s Mustafa Nawaz Khokhar, Muhammad Zubair, Allama Ahmed Iqbal Rizvi, Sajid Tareen, Zain Shah, Hussain Ahmed Yousafzai, and Khalid Yousaf Chaudhry. The TTAP said that issues between the two neighboring countries should be settled peacefully through talks, warning that further escalation could harm Pakistan’s security and economic stability. It urged the federal government to brief Parliament on the situation and build a consensus-based national approach. Turning to domestic concerns, the alliance strongly criticized the federal government’s alleged interference in the constitutional process of power transfer in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), warning that such moves could further destabilise the already fragile province. It also condemned the Election Commission of Pakistan’s (ECP) decision to declare KP Assembly members “independent” ahead of the chief minister’s election, terming it “undemocratic and conducive to horse-trading.” The alliance said the step undermined parliamentary integrity and the democratic process. The TTAP further expressed concern over the resurgence of terrorism and unrest in Balochistan and KP, urging state institutions to coordinate with provincial governments and citizens to restore peace and stability. PML-N response Reacting to the statement, PML-N Senator Irfan Siddiqui termed the TTAP’s remarks “shameful and deeply regrettable,” saying the alliance had failed to condemn terrorists or their facilitators at a critical time. He accused the group of maligning security institutions, saying that labeling them discredited reflected a “shallow mindset” about those who had sacrificed their lives for Pakistan’s defense. Siddiqui further said that the same KP government the TTAP wanted consulted had “nurtured terrorists and turned the province into a safe haven.”

See how each Nigerian now owes over N669.30, analysis shows family of 5 debt

Nigeria's public debt has surged to a new high as the government, at various levels, continues to seek funds despite rising revenueNew data shows that Nigeria's total debt, including both external and domestic obligations, has exceeded N152 trillionEconomists have provided insight into the long-term fiscal risks and why the Nigerian government must exercise caution Legit.ng journalist Dave Ibemere has over a decade of experience in business journalism, with in-depth knowledge of the Nigerian economy, stocks, and general market trends. Data from the Debt Management Office revealed that Nigeria’s total public debt has surged to N152.39 trillion as of June 2025, a rise from N87.4 trillion in June 2023, around the time President Bola Tinubu assumed office. The increase means each Nigerian now carries a debt share of about N662,600, nearly doubling the per-capita burden from 2023. The debt figures for citizens were calculated by dividing the total public debt by the estimated population of 230 million. Nigeria's public debt According to the breakdown, Nigeria's total external debt which accounts for 47.1% of total debt, rose to $46.98 billion, with the federal government responsible for $42.17 billion and states and the FCT owing $4.81 billion. Domestic debt, representing 52.9% of total debt, increased to N80.55 trillion, with the federal government accounting for N76.59 trillion and states and the FCT contributing N3.96 trillion. When the figures are compared with June 2023, external debt rose from $43.16 billion, while domestic borrowing grew from N54.13 trillion, representing a 74% increase in total public debt in just two years. Overall, the Federal Government accounts for nearly 93% of the country’s entire debt stock. Nigeria’s total public debt includes loans from multilateral and bilateral creditors, commercial borrowings such as Eurobonds, and domestic instruments like treasury bills and bonds. They note that the increasing debt service costs could crowd out vital spending on infrastructure, healthcare, and education. Nigeria’s federal revenue hit a record N3.64 trillion in September 2025, representing a 411% jump from N711 billion in May 2023. With ongoing tax reforms, revenue is expected to grow even further, Punch reports. However, Zacch Adedeji, the Executive Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), recently addressed journalists on government borrowing, stating: “Borrowing is not a problem… Is borrowing not part of the budget we submitted to the National Assembly? Was it not approved? Are we borrowing outside what was approved?” Commenting on the broader fiscal landscape, Muda Yusuf of the Centre for the Promotion of Private Enterprise (CPPE) told Legit.ng that given Nigeria’s limited fiscal space, spending efficiency is paramount. He noted: “Nigeria’s fiscal and tax reforms have achieved significant progress in expanding revenue and improving fiscal sustainability. "The next phase must focus on deepening revenue diversification, enhancing spending efficiency, and aligning fiscal outcomes with real economic performance. With prudent management, stakeholder collaboration, and social sensitivity, these reforms can lay a solid foundation for a more resilient, productive, and inclusive Nigerian economy.” Dangote pays Over N400bn in taxes Earlier Legit.ng reported that Dangote Industries Limited (DIL) and its subsidiaries have disclosed a total tax payment of N402.319 billion. The company, in a statement released on Wednesday, March 6, said its tax payments solidify its position as the highest taxpayer in Nigeria. The tax payments included those of its subsidiaries Dangote Cement, NASCON, and Dangote Packaging Limited. Source: Legit.ng
