Florida Panthers Extend Cup Winning Depth Forward

Gadjovich NHL History Gadjovich played his first amount of significant hockey in the NHL in 2021-2022. He played 43 games with the San Jose Sharks that year. Recording three points. Gadjovich went to Florida ahead of the 2023-2024 season, where he played 39 games. Gadjovich brings a certain skill set that some call a lost art in the NHL. Playing more of an enforcer role, Gadjovich recorded 104 penalty minutes that season. Last season, Gadjovich played in 42 games. Scoring four times, with no assists. Once again penalty minutes were his main contribution to the score sheet, with 60 of them. In the playoffs, Gadjovich played in 16 games, scored twice, had one assist, and 33 penalty minutes. Regardless of how you feel about Florida’s style of play, Gadjovich fits right into that exact thing. He stabilizes their fourth line with solid physical play, and he will drop the gloves whenever he needs too. What a Gadjovich Extension Means For Florida Florida gets steady reliable play out of Gadjovich, and it makes sense they’d be looking to bring him back. At close to the league minimum, it’s a solid investment for a team looking to three-peat. With Matthew Tkachuk on long-term injured reserve and Aleksander Barkov out for the year, Gadjovich fills a hole currently in the lineup. Florida extended a large part of their cup winning team over the past two years, and well, Gadjovich was also part of that group. Gadjovich most likely will not see minutes in the top six forward group for the Panthers. But he can score, maybe the increase in minutes due to injuries could see him find a more offensive game. And if not it is totally worth $905k per year for the Panthers to have a great fighter on the ice.

Universal Orlando's Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit coaster catches fire as park phases out iconic ride

A Universal Orlando Resort roller coaster caught fire Friday morning. Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit is in the process of being demolished to make room for a new attraction at the theme park. The small fire occurred on a portion of the ride's lift hill, Orlando Fire Department told local FOX 35 Orlando. The ride closed on Aug. 18. Many of the iconic features, such as the loop, have already been removed and Universal has not yet publicly announced what is replacing the coaster. The cause of the fire is not yet known and there were no injuries, local media outlets reported. The fire department did not immediately respond to a FOX Business inquiry. FAMILY HIRES PROMINENT CIVIL RIGHTS ATTORNEY AFTER UNIVERSAL ROLLER COASTER DEATH Universal Orlando Resort now features four parks following the opening of Universal Epic Universe in May. Just last month, Kevin Rodriguez Zavala, 32, died after riding Stardust Racers in the Celestial Park portion of the newest park. UNIVERSAL EPIC UNIVERSE OPENS IN FLORIDA: TAKE AN INSIDE LOOK The ride reopened last weekend. Attorney Ben Crump, who is representing Zavala's family, called the planned reopening "a grave risk to public safety." "Reopening the ride before our experts can examine every component is unadulterated spoliation of evidence, a grave risk to public safety, and puts profit over people’s lives. Universal reportedly told employees the ride functioned as intended. If that is accurate, then the design itself is deadly. We are demanding that Universal pause the reopening, preserve all evidence, and allow our experts to inspect it. If they refuse, we will address Universal’s callous actions in court," Crump said. The Orange County Sheriff's Office incident report says that Zavala's girlfriend, who was at the theme park with him, told law enforcement that Zavala, who used a wheelchair, had a spinal injury and was taking medication. Universal Orlando President Karen Irwin said in a letter to Universal staff days before Stardust Racers reopened that, "our comprehensive technical and operational review confirmed the ride systems functioned properly throughout the boarding process, the duration of the ride, and upon the ride vehicle’s return to the station, and our Team Members followed procedures throughout." Who Should Headline UFC 323?

Who Should Headline UFC 323?

So who does that leave? The lightweight champion, Ilia Topuira, will likely be saved for the first PPV of the new era. He’s a huge star and regardless of who he fights, it’ll be big. The strawweight title will be contested at UFC 322 and it’s unlikely that we’ll see either Mackenzie Dern or Virna Jandiroba out again in 2025. Khamzat Chimaev’s middleweight title is also unlikely to feature at UFC 323 as he isn’t usually the most active fighter. He has struggled to get clearance in recent years to fight in the United States, and it’ll be more likely that he is on the shelf until 2026. UFC 323 Headline Slot The flyweight title could potentially be on the line again at UFC 323. Champion, Alexandre Pantoja, headlined the final PPV of 2024, having competed in June at UFC 317, he’ll be available for a turnaround in December. The logical opponent, Joshua Van, also competed at UFC 317, so he will also be fit for a December date. As we know Moreno and Taira are on the card, so could act as back-up if needed. At UFC Rio, Michael Aswell appeared to leak that the fight was official, however, nothing has been confirmed yet. Featherweight king Alexander Volkanovski is also a big possibility. He hasn’t competed since April, a unanimous decision win over Diego Lopes. Undefeated Brit, Lerone Murphy, is the next logical opponent, however, it appears that the UFC might be looking a Lopes rematch, which doesn’t make a lot of sense. Volkanovski vs Murphy could be a great headliner for UFC 323 and both men should be ready for a December dance. Outsider Chances There is a slight possibility that bantamweight champion, Merab Dvalishvili makes a quick return. After yet another dominant performance at UFC 320, the Georgian suggested that he wanted to return again this year. His issue is that he may not have a suitable opponent by December. A Petr Yan rematch could happen, but after the first fight wasn’t competitive, there may not be a huge pull for this one. With that being said, the potential for Merab to make four title defences in 2025 makes the fight a big one.

Revealed: See how much Super Eagles could lose if they don’t qualify for the World Cup

The NFF could face huge financial repercussions if the Super Eagles fail to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World CupNigeria currently sit in third in Group C with 14 points, behind leaders Benin Republic, second-placed South AfricaOnly the team that finishes at the top of the group will qualify automatically for the 2026 FIFA World Cup The Super Eagles of Nigeria face the risk of missing out on the 2026 FIFA World Cup, a setback that could have major consequences for the Nigeria Football Federation. Nigeria are currently third in Group C with 14 points, three points behind leaders Benin Republic and two points adrift of second-place South Africa, with just one game left to play. Eric Chelle's men secured a vital 2-1 win against Lesotho in South Africa thanks to a debut goal from Sevilla striker Akor Adams, which turned out to be the match-winner. The victory kept Nigeria's World Cup hopes alive, but only the group winners are guaranteed an automatic ticket to the 2026 FIFA World Cup. This means Nigeria have to beat Benin Republic on Tuesday, October 14, and hope South Africa fail to beat Rwanda to top Group C. Cost implications of not qualifying for WC Failure to qualify for the World Cup could have huge implications financially for the team and the NFF. This follows a report that the NFF could miss out on about N18 billion in appearance and prize money for the 2026 World Cup. Though FIFA has not released a breakdown of the appearance fees and prize money for the World Cup in the USA, Mexico, and Canada, the football governing body has confirmed that it will pay out $896 million in prize money for the 2026 tournament, more than double the record $440 million it distributed four years ago in Qatar. Based on the figures from the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, qualification for the tournament comes with a guaranteed $9 million (about N13bn) for the group stage and a further $1.5 million ( N2bn) in participation bonus, coming up to N15bn. With the total prize money now doubled, participation fees for next year’s tournament will be significantly higher, although with more countries now, but the figures should still be in the region of N18bn. Qualification for the Super Eagles depends on the result of the final round of matches coming up on Tuesday, October 14. How Nigeria can qualify for World Cup A win for Nigeria against the leaders Benin Republic, will take them to 17 points, level on the same points as their opponent. The Super Eagles will need Rwanda to hold South Africa to stand a chance of qualifying for the World Cup on head-to-head record. Nigeria will have to beat the Benin Republic without the reigning African Footballer of the Year, Ademola Lookman, after his yellow card against Lesotho rules him out of the encounter. Rwanda send fans message before SA clash Earlier, Legit.ng reported that Rwanda have sent a message to their fans before their game against South Africa, The Amavubi take a trip to South Africa for their final game of the World Cup qualifying campaign, a game the Super Eagles will be hoping for favours from the away team. Deiveson Figueiredo Shuts Down 'Weight Bully' Allegations as He Aims for Merab Dvalishvili After UFC Rio

“He’s missed weight a few times, so I think he’s just an oversized bantamweight who used to bully flyweights,” Cody Garbrandt said in an interview with Kevin Iole last year ahead of his bout against Deiveson Figueiredo at UFC 300. Like many fans, ‘No Love’ wasn’t impressed by the former flyweight champion being much bigger than other 125ers. In the past, the Brazilian has struggled with weight cuts, even missing by 2.5 pounds against Joseph Benavidez at UFC Fight Night 169. However, at UFC Rio, that perception slightly changed. In the UFC Rio co-main event, ‘Deus da Guerra’ secured a solid victory over the towering Montel Jackson. Although the fight wasn’t a barnburner, fans inside the Farmasi Arena were thrilled to see one of their legendary champions get his hand raised. Figueiredo returned to the win column after two consecutive losses. Proving he still belongs among the top contenders at bantamweight. With this performance, the Brazilian legend also silenced critics who accused him of being a weight bully. Deiveson Figueiredo silences “Weight Bully” critics after UFC Rio victory On social media platform X, an account named Omni-Man’s MMA Burner wrote, “People accused Figueiredo of being a weight bully his entire career, so he moved up a weight class and beat the biggest guy in the division years after his athletic prime ended. Like it or not, he’s one of the greats.” Size advantage has always been a hot topic in MMA, often seen as an unhealthy way to win fights. That’s why Figueiredo often faced backlash from fans. However, on the flip side, the Brazilian endured tough challenges from Brandon Moreno despite being the bigger man. This actually raises a question: should size and physical stature be the only parameters to judge who wins a fight, or does skill play the bigger role here? Because, in terms of sheer size, Montel Jackson towers over Figueiredo. For the unversed, ‘Quick’ boasts a 75.5-inch reach—longer than Sean O’Malley’s 72 and Cory Sandhagen’s 70, which makes him one of the biggest bantamweights, if not the biggest. So, for ‘Figgy’ to win the bout with a 5’5" frame and 68-inch reach is truly impressive and should finally silence the weight bully claims.

Benin captain fires warning to Super Eagles ahead of World Cup decider in Uyo

Benin captain Steve Mounie has claimed the Cheetahs will give everything to secure the World Cup ticket versus NigeriaThe Super Eagles have arrived safely in Uyo after mid-air emergency that left the team stranded in AngolaBenin need a draw against the Super Eagles, while Nigeria must win to stay in contention for the World Cup ticket Benin Republic captain Steve Mounie has declared that the Cheetahs are in Uyo to defeat the Super Eagles, setting the tone for what promises to be a fiercely contested 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying decider on Tuesday. The Cheetahs, coached by former Nigeria boss Gernot Rohr, are currently top of Group C with 17 points from nine matches, and only need to avoid defeat to book their ticket to the World Cup. The Super Eagles, on the other hand, must win to stand a realistic chance of qualification, making this match a high-stakes showdown. Benin captain sends warning to Nigeria Mounie is brimming with confidence after leading his team to a narrow but crucial 1-0 victory over Rwanda in Kigali last Friday, Complete Sports reports. The win placed Benin in pole position to make their first-ever appearance at the World Cup. Speaking ahead of the decisive clash against the Super Eagles in Uyo, Mounie said: “We play football for this kind of match. It will be a historic meeting. We will give everything to take Benin to the World Cup.” His words underline the determination within the Benin camp, who are eyeing a massive achievement that could reshape the country’s football history. For Rohr, who once managed Nigeria, the game is more than just another qualifier. Super Eagles arrive safely in Uyo In contrast, the Super Eagles’ build-up to the World Cup decider versus Benin was far from smooth. According to the Vanguard, the Nigerian team endured a mid-air emergency on their flight from Angola when the aircraft’s windscreen cracked shortly after take-off. The plane, which was en route from Polokwane, South Africa, had stopped to refuel in Luanda, Angola, before the incident occurred. Fortunately, the pilot managed to safely return to Luanda, and no injuries were reported. The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) swiftly arranged an alternative aircraft from Lagos to convey the delegation to Uyo, where the team finally landed safely on Sunday. Decisive clash at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium The Godswill Akpabio International Stadium will be the stage for this final Group C battle. With Benin needing just a draw and Nigeria chasing all three points, every minute will carry massive implications. Fans are expected to pack the Uyo stadium, with the Super Eagles banking on home support to push them past the Cheetahs. The Super Eagles, who have stumbled through an inconsistent qualifying campaign, know only victory can keep their 2026 World Cup dreams alive. Super Eagles backed to beat Benin In a related development, Legit.ng reported that former Super Eagles goalkeeper Chigozie Agbim has voiced strong confidence that Nigeria can still qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Agbim described the result against Lesotho as a huge boost for Nigeria, noting that the Super Eagles now have their qualification path fairly clear. Source: Legit.ng

Billionaire Ken Griffin says Citadel’s Chicago exodus was ‘not hard,’ cites crime, taxes

Billionaire Ken Griffin said his hedge fund’s Chicago footprint will shrink to just two floors as crime, taxes, and other challenges push employees to relocate to Miami and New York. "Chicago, you know, over the last, unfortunately, over the last six or seven years, has been engulfed in a series of problems," Griffin said at the Citadel Securities Future of Global Markets conference in New York on Oct. 6. MAMDANI’S RISE IN NYC MIRRORS ECONOMIC FLIGHT TO THE SOUTH, STUDY SHOWS The Windy City, which served as Citadel's headquarters for more than 30 years, has seen much of the company’s workforce and operations shift south to Miami in recent years. Griffin, who is worth $50 billion according to Forbes, relocated his company's global headquarters to Florida in 2022. "Asking people to leave Chicago for New York or Miami has not been hard. We've gone from probably 1,300 people in Chicago to a few hundred. From being the primary tenant of one of the largest skyscrapers to, I think we will be down to two floors in a year," he explained. BILLIONAIRE KEN GRIFFIN MOVING HEDGE FUND FROM CHICAGO TO MIAMI AMID CRIME Griffin, who leads the world’s most profitable hedge fund, said that the departure of so many longtime employees underscores Illinois’ mounting economic and social problems. "I think the sad part of the story is how many people who had built lives in Chicago were willing to walk away from that and move to Miami or New York, just given the challenges that Illinois has faced," he said. Griffin added that Chicago's crime remains one of the city’s most pressing challenges. TRUMP'S NATIONAL GUARD TROOPS CAN STAY IN ILLINOIS BUT FEDERAL JUDGE BLOCKS DEPLOYMENT His comments come as President Donald Trump renews his push for a federal crackdown on crime in major U.S. cities, a plan that includes deploying troops to some Democrat-led areas experiencing rising violence. The president’s push to deploy National Guard troops nationwide has ignited repeated clashes with Democratic governors and mayors. GET FOX BUSINESS ON THE GO BY CLICKING HERE Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker has been among the most vocal critics, condemning Trump’s deployment of troops and federal agents into Chicago. When will the Israeli hostages be released?

Hamas is expected to release all hostages still in captivity as part of a ceasefire deal. The 20 living captives, who are all men, have been held for more than two years after they were among 251 people kidnapped when Hamas-led militants launched a surprise attack on Israel on 7 October 2023. Gaza latest: Don't make a 'sick display' of hostages, Hamas warned The bodies of another 28 hostages who were killed in captivity are also expected to be returned to Israel. Exact details of the handover are still unclear but this is what we know. When is the deadline? Hamas have until 10am UK time to release the hostages as part of Donald Trump's 20-point peace plan. What time will they actually be freed? There have been mixed messages about the exact timings and Israel's prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Israel was ready to "immediately" receive the captives. US vice-president JD Vance said earlier on Sunday the hostages would be released "any moment now". But the most concrete statement we've heard comes from Israeli government spokeswoman Shosh Bedrosian, who said they will be released "early Monday morning". The Times of Israel has reported that could be as early as 2am UK time. Hamas has previously indicated it would take more time to hand over the bodies of the hostages who have died to Israel. How will the handover work? Israeli government spokeswoman Shosh Bedrosian said the 20 hostages are expected to be released together at one time to the Red Cross. She said they will be taken in "six to eight" vehicles without "any sick displays by Hamas", referring to the previous release ceremonies staged by the militant group. The hostages will then be driven to forces inside Israel-controlled parts of Gaza before they are transferred to southern Israel, where they will reunite with their families. Read more:Yalda Hakim speaks to Hamas leaderHow withdrawal of Israeli troops could work "Israel is ready if a living hostage requires any urgent medical attention, they will be brought to a medical facility immediately," she said. She said the "entire nation of Israel" will embrace those killed in captivity and "ensure proper Jewish burials". The US president is expected to arrive in Israel on Monday morning and will meet with families of the hostages, according to a schedule released by the White House. Where will they spend their first nights of freedom? Pictures released by the Israeli government show the light airy rooms where the hostages will be welcomed. The comfortable chairs, big television, and bedrooms with clean sheets and baskets full of toiletries will be a world away from the dark Hamas tunnels where they have been kept in Gaza for the past 734 days. Sky News was given special access to one of the teams in the Rabin Medical Centre in Petah Tikva, a city northeast of Tel Aviv, which is preparing to receive them. Director of Nursing Dr Michal Steinman said the hostages will be given their own private room, where a gift basket filled with thoughtful items such as a teddy, a blanket, slippers and a phone charger awaits them.

Family Beach Day in Costa Rica Exploring Tidepools and Wildlife

My two sons couldn’t be more different. They look completely different. They act completely differently. They eat different foods. They have different interests. This trend continues when it comes to family days at the beach. The big one likes nothing more than to swim out amongst the waves. He prefers that I’m out there with him, throwing him around and letting him stand on my shoulders, but he’s also content to splash around by himself and loves to get smashed by big waves. The little one won’t let a wave higher than four inches touch his skinny, little body. He’s more of a sand man, digging holes and throwing the sand up in the air so the wind blows it in my face. The one place on the beach where he will swim is the tidepools. Our local beach consists of a huge expanse of sand with a crocodile-filled estuary on one side and a large rocky outcropping on the other. Our regular routine is for my wife and I to set up camp under the shade of some palm trees, the older boy immediately shoots out into the water, and the younger one starts to repeat, ‘Dad, can we walk to the rocks?’ approximately one million times. I’ve learned not to fight the request for two reasons. First, he’ll repeat the question until you feel your sanity to begin to slip away. Second, the rocks contain tidepools that are full of wonderful creatures that delight us both. Once we arrive at the rocks, he yells ‘Crab!’ every few minutes and swims in the pools with sandy bottoms while I climb on the rocky formations that house small pools that are full of life. Each pool has its own biological and non-biological setup, each acting like a little fully contained world. Some are mostly rocks and sand, while others host bright green vegetation and little clumps of coral. The residents of each pool can only be seen with patience. You must sit motionless and wait for them to reemerge from the hiding places they retreated to upon your arrival. After a short time, all manners of tiny creatures begin to stir. Until recently, I was content to sit, stare at the pools, and move on with my day, but the other day I was going through my camera equipment and came across the waterproof housing for a GoPro-style camera that I hadn’t used in forever, and it dawned on me that I could be filming the wildlife of the tidepools. Between the spark of that idea and today, I’ve become completely addicted to filming tidepools. Now when the family hits the beach, it’s me grabbing the younger boy and saying, ‘Let’s go to the rock!’ I’m new to this pursuit, so I haven’t figured out all of the tricks yet. What I have discovered is that no matter how steady I feel as though I’m holding the camera underwater, when I view the video, it looks terrible because the camera is moving around too much. The trick is to place the camera underwater and walk away. The longer the camera is underwater, silently recording, the greater the chance of recording a larger number of species. I’ve only been able to time the tides properly a few times, but I’ve found that the residents of each pool change every time I go, which makes sense because many of the species move around during high tide. I’m just beginning to learn to identify the tiny creatures that I’m recording and most remain a mystery to me. Highlights so far include a species of mantis shrimp that I caught a glimpse of a few times that you can tell is intelligent simply by the way it navigates the tidepools, and a gooey creature called a sea hare that is a marine mollusk that looks like a slug with Shrek ears. As of now, I’m unable to identify the majority of the creatures I’ve recorded, but I’m still happy to share them with you in the video below.
