Microsoft: Russia, China increasingly using AI to escalate cyberattacks on the US

By DAVID KLEPPER, Associated Press WASHINGTON (AP) — Russia, China, Iran and North Korea have sharply increased their use of artificial intelligence to deceive people online and mount cyberattacks against the United States, according to new research from Microsoft. This July, the company identified more than 200 instances of foreign adversaries using AI to create fake content online, more than double the number from July 2024 and more than ten times the number seen in 2023. The findings, published Thursday in Microsoft’s annual digital threats report, show how foreign adversaries are adopting new and innovative tactics in their efforts to weaponize the internet as a tool for espionage and deception. AI’s potential said to be exploited by US foes America’s adversaries, as well as criminal gangs and hacking companies, have exploited AI’s potential, using it to automate and improve cyberattacks, to spread inflammatory disinformation and to penetrate sensitive systems. AI can translate poorly worded phishing emails into fluent English, for example, as well as generate digital clones of senior government officials. Government cyber operations often aim to obtain classified information, undermine supply chains, disrupt critical public services or spread disinformation. Cyber criminals on the other hand work for profit by stealing corporate secrets or using ransomware to extort payments from their victims. These gangs are responsible for the wide majority of cyberattacks in the world and in some cases have built partnerships with countries like Russia. Increasingly, these attackers are using AI to target governments, businesses and critical systems like hospitals and transportation networks, according to Amy Hogan-Burney, Microsoft’s vice president for customer security and trust, who oversaw the report. Many U.S. companies and organizations, meanwhile, are getting by with outdated cyber defenses, even as Americans expand their networks with new digital connections. Companies, governments, organizations and individuals must take the threat seriously if they are to protect themselves amid escalating digital threats, she said. “We see this as a pivotal moment where innovation is going so fast,” Hogan-Burney said. “This is the year when you absolutely must invest in your cybersecurity basics.” US is a popular target The U.S. is the top target for cyberattacks, with criminals and foreign adversaries targeting companies, governments and organizations in the U.S. more than any other country. Israel and Ukraine were the second and third most popular targets, showing how military conflicts involving those two nations have spilled over into the digital realm. Russia, China and Iran have denied that they use cyber operations for espionage, disruption and disinformation. China, for instance, says the U.S. is trying to “smear” Beijing while conducting its own cyberattacks. In a statement emailed to The Associated Press on Thursday, Iran’s mission to the United Nations said Iran rejects allegations that it is responsible for cyberattacks on the U.S. while reserving the right to defend itself. “The Islamic Republic of Iran does not initiate any form of offensive cyber operation against any state,” the mission wrote in the statement. “However, as a victim of cyber operations, it will respond to any such threat in a manner proportionate to its nature and scale.” North Korea has pioneered a scheme in which it uses AI personas to create American identities allowing them to apply for remote tech jobs. North Korea’s authoritarian government pockets the salaries, while the hackers use their access to steal secrets or install malware. It’s the kind of digital threat that will face more American organizations in the years to come as sophisticated AI programs make it easier for bad actors to deceive, according to Nicole Jiang, CEO of Fable, a San Francisco-based security company that uses AI to sniff out fake employees. AI is not only a tool for hackers, but also a critical defense against digital attackers, Jiang said. “Cyber is a cat-and-mouse game,” she said. “Access, data, information, money: That’s what they’re after.”

Poll shows young liberals approve of breaking the law to oppose ICE

According to a Cygnal poll, a sizable group of liberals supports breaking the law regarding ICE when simply protesting does not get the job done. According to the poll, 42% of liberals overall and a whopping 60% of liberals under 30 consider it appropriate to "go beyond peaceful protest" in response to ICE, even if that means "breaking the law." For Democrats ages 18-44, breaking the law to oppose ICE is a +15 issue, but a -42 issue among Democrats ages 45 and above, highlighting the increasing radicalization of younger voters. An overwhelming 76% of general voters agreed that 'politics has gotten more confrontational, and they wish it could return to being more civil.' The poll, which was conducted October 7-8 of this year and surveyed 1,500 likely general election voters, showed a number of striking trends and top voter issues. The top issue for voters is now "threats to democracy," up to 21% from 17% in April. It replaced "inflation and the economy," which fell from 35% to 17% across the same period. Other top issues include illegal immigration and border security and health care. An overwhelming 76% of general voters agreed that "politics has gotten more confrontational, and they wish it could return to being more civil." However, 57% believe that political conflict and violence will continue to escalate. A telling detail is that voters under 30 are three times more likely "to accept the current tone and style of politics today as necessary or preferable," 34% versus 12%. RELATED: DOJ files first terrorism-related charges against alleged 'Antifa Cell' after ICE attack: 'Get to the rifles' Photo by NurPhoto / Contributor via Getty Images Another interesting data point is the breakdown of where voters get their news. For Democrat voters, the main source is national TV at 45%. GOP voters favor cable at 44%. Among voters under 30, however, YouTube is the dominant news source, favored by 52% of Republican voters and 51% of independents. Among Democrats, the number sinks to 35%. Popular figures on both sides of the aisle experienced slight increases in negative perception over the last few months. Cygnal has President Trump currently at 54% unfavorable and RFK Jr. at 52%. Support for the MAHA movement, however, remains very strong at 74%. On the other side, Chuck Schumer is at 51% unfavorable, while Hakeem Jeffries fares better at only 38% unfavorable, but with 15% having no opinion. Like Blaze News? Colts' Zaire Franklin backs suspended Lions safety Brian Branch over JuJu Smith-Schuster fight

Indianapolis Colts linebacker Zaire Franklin said Detroit Lions safety Brian Branch was doing "the work of the Lord" when he got into it with Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster. Branch and Smith-Schuster were at the center of a scrum following the Chiefs’ 30-17 win over the Lions on Sunday, and Franklin was all for it. "JuJu needed his a-- whooped," Franklin said during a recent appearance on the "Club 520 Podcast." CLICK HERE FOR MORE SPORTS COVERAGE ON FOXNEWS.COM "Let's just go there. ... He's been needing his a-- whooped for a minute. Brian Branch is doing the work of the Lord." Franklin called Smith-Schuster an "a-----" for how he plays. "(Smith-Schuster's) an a-----, bro," Franklin said. "This is my thing, I'm gonna talk greasy to you. We gonna go right up. And when we get that one-on-one, I ain't gonna duck the smoke. So, if I win or lose, it is what it is. He the type that's gonna do all the little weird, sneaky stuff, push you behind the back, go run to the ref ... then try to be cool with you after." Franklin referenced photos that circulated online after the fight that showed Smith-Schuster with a bloody nose, and he made fun of the Chiefs wide receiver for it. "Bro, you can't be crying with your nose (bloody). You got kids, bro," Franklin said. "Like, what's going to happen with your son? C'mon, bro. ... I really be feeling like, bro, I can't let y'all — my son in the stands, I can't let you put your hands on me. My girl watching. She might like you now after this. Like, what, I'm going to tell my girl when I come home I just got my a-- whooped on Sunday night." LIONS SAFETY BRIAN BRANCH SUSPENDED 1 GAME FOR FIGHT AFTER LOSS TO CHIEFS While Franklin might have loved the scrum, the Lions certainly did not. The NFL suspended Branch for one game, and he lost his appeal. The Lions will be without their star safety for their Week 7 game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Lions head coach Dan Campbell condemned Branch’s actions. "I love Brian Branch, but what he did is inexcusable, and it's not going to be accepted here. It's not what we do. It's not what we're about," Campbell said after the game. "I apologized to coach (Andy) Reid and the Chiefs and Smith-Schuster. "That's not OK. That's not what we do here. It's not going to be OK. He knows it. Our team knows it. That's not what we do." Branch called his decision to start the scuffle "childish." "It was a childish thing, but I'm tired of people doing stuff in between the play and refs don't catch it," Branch said. "They be trying to bully me out there. I should have never did it. It was childish." CLICK HERE TO GET THE FOX NEWS APP The incident occurred when Patrick Mahomes tried to shake hands with Branch. The Lions safety ignored Mahomes, which prompted Smith-Schuster to approach Branch. After exchanging words, Branch slapped Smith-Schuster across the helmet. As the fracas unfolded and players attempted to separate the two, Branch pulled Smith-Schuster’s helmet off. Branch’s postgame outburst was not the first time unsportsmanlike conduct has hurt him. He had already been fined this season. He was docked $23,186 for face mask and unsportsmanlike conduct penalties against the Green Bay Packers in September. PKCG: Počasni konzuli vrijedan resurs Crne Gore

PKCG: Počasni konzuli vrijedan resurs Crne Gore

The $1 billion Chinese text scam flooding Americans’ phones

A recent Wall Street Journal article has exposed the real culprit behind the incessant threatening text messages Americans all over the country have been receiving as of late — which include threats over late toll payments, U.S. postal service fees, and unpaid traffic violations. According to the Wall Street Journal, these texts are always “poised to get unsuspecting victims to fork over their credit card details,” and those behind it “take advantage of this information to buy iPhones, gift cards, clothing, and cosmetics.” And behind the messages are criminal organizations operating out of China — who have made more than $1 billion over the past three years off the scam. “Wow,” BlazeTV host Liz Wheeler comments, shocked. “I think we can all speak to this personally. I know, for me at least, I’m receiving just dozens and dozens of these things — way more than I used to.” These criminal gangs use “SIM farms” — which are rooms jammed with boxes of networking devices — to flood people with text messages. “You know, you neglected to pay a toll, and now you better watch out or your credit score is going to get hacked, and you’re going to be thrown in jail, and your car is going to be taken away unless you click this really shady-looking URL and give us your credit card number, and then we’re going to steal from you,” Wheeler says. At these SIM farms — which have been found in shared offices, crack houses, and auto repair shops — the servers are “stuffed with little white cards,” the Wall Street Journal writes, “that mobile customers put in their new phones to begin making calls or sending texts.” And Wheeler explains that it’s the Chinese communists behind it. “The Chinese communists are stealing from us to the tune of $1 billion, just by that particular text message scam alone over the course of the past three years — $1 billion. And this, I am sad to say, is just another example of a crime committed against us by the crafty Chinese communists,” she says. “They are not merely adversarial trading partners in a globalist economy. The Chinese Communists actively, desperately want to depose the United States and destroy us, and they’re doing so by disrupting our society socially and culturally,” Wheeler continues. “They are attempting to destroy our economy. They are sowing civil unrest,” she says. “For goodness sake, they created a virus that spiraled us into tyranny.” Read more about Chinese Communist Party SIM farms in the United States. Award-winning nurse torpedoes her job after vowing to let cops die during twisted DWI stop caught on bodycam video

An award-winning nurse in Texas has been fired after she was caught on police bodycam video telling officers she would let them die if they needed medical treatment at the hospital where she worked. Officers with the Magnolia Police Department pulled over a female driver just after midnight Saturday on suspicion of erratic driving. 'I'm a f**king nurse, and when you come through my hospital, don't worry, I'll let you die.' Citing the arrest report, KTRK-TV reported that police observed 35-year-old Crystal Tadlock speeding and running a red light. Police said it took Tadlock 40 seconds to pull over and that while doing so, she hit a piece of concrete. Police noted that Tadlock had "bloodshot, glassy eyes and slurred speech" and added that Tadlock admitted to having two alcoholic beverages — a beer and a wine mixer — at a concert before the traffic stop. Police also said Tadlock refused to undergo a breathalyzer test at the traffic stop, so officers administered a field sobriety test. According to officers, Tadlock "almost fell over backwards" during the field sobriety test, which she blamed on a recent eye injection. Police bodycam footage shows Tadlock yelling at officers: "I couldn't walk straight because I had a f**king eye injection yesterday! Because my perception is permanently off!" Tadlock was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated. While being transported to the Montgomery County Jail, police video shows Tadlock appearing to verbally attack an officer over his heritage: "You can't speak straight because you have an accent from another country," Additionally, police footage indicates that an officer attempts to inform Tadlock of her rights, but she interrupts and says, "That's because ICE hasn't picked you up yet" — a reference to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement. Tadlock told the officer she had worked at the Memorial Hermann Greater Heights Hospital for the last seven years, according to police. Police said in a Facebook statement that "the female, who is a nurse, stated that if any of us came to her hospital, that she would make sure we died." "Greater Heights, bitch. Don't go there," she is heard saying on video. "I'm a f**king nurse, and when you come through my hospital, don't worry, I'll let you die," Tadlock also is heard telling the officers on video. The nurse adds, "All your family members." She then asks if she is being recorded. The officer is heard telling the nurse, "You really just said you don't want me there 'cause you're gonna let me die.'" Tadlock is heard replying, "Well, yeah. I mean, you're not that great of a person. You think you can just treat me like this?" Tadlock is heard on police video saying, "You're going to be so embarrassed. Ha. And I'm white. Yeah." RELATED: Bizarre bodycam video shows Florida cops arresting Chuck E. Cheese mascot as kids, parents watch in shock Tadlock has been bonded out of jail. Police added in the Facebook post, "Unfortunately we couldn’t charge her with not being a very nice person." Police said they're still waiting for the results of a blood draw. Memorial Hermann Greater Heights Hospital reportedly fired Tadlock, releasing the following statement to KTRK: Immediately upon learning of this incident on Saturday, we took swift action to suspend the employee, pending investigation. She has subsequently been terminated. The safety and privacy of our patients, visitors, and workforce are our top priority, and we take such matters very seriously. Tadlock previously won a nursing award. In 2021, Tadlock was the recipient of the DAISY Award for "Extraordinary Nurses" for being "compassionate" and going "above and beyond" during the coronavirus pandemic. "Crystal is an exceptional ICU nurse who always goes above and beyond when providing care for patients as well as assisting the healthcare team," the DAISY Foundation stated. "Crystal always demonstrates a compassionate, caring, positive attitude towards patients, family, colleagues, and all healthcare disciplinary teams." The DAISY Foundation has a mission to "meaningfully celebrate extraordinary, compassionate nurses, capturing those moments unique to nursing that make a profound difference in the lives of people around the world." Police did not immediately respond to Blaze News' request for comment. Like Blaze News? Bypass the censors, sign up for our newsletters, and get stories like this direct to your inbox. Sign up here!

Preokreti Luke Bar i Albatrosa

Democrats Block Legislation To Pay Troops During Shutdown

Democrats blocked the Senate from considering a defense spending bill on Thursday afternoon that would pay military service members during the shutdown. Senators voted 50 to 44, with just three Democrats breaking with Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer to advance a full-year defense appropriations bill. The failed vote comes as Congress is locked in a stalemate to end the 16-day shutdown with Democrats largely refusing to cross party lines and reopen the government. (RELATED: Democrats Divided On Trump’s Method To Pay Troops Due To Schumer Shutdown) The defense appropriations bill would fund the Department of War for the upcoming fiscal year and ensure that active-duty troops do not miss a paycheck during the shutdown. The measure also includes a military pay raise. Military personnel would have gone without pay for the first time in U.S. history on Wednesday if President Donald Trump had not tapped unused Pentagon funding to temporarily cover troop pay. However, there is no guarantee of future paychecks for military personnel if the shutdown continues into November. Democratic Sens. John Fetterman of Pennsylvania, Catherine Cortez Masto of Nevada and Jeanne Shaheen of New Hampshire joined Republicans in advancing the defense spending bill that would fund troop pay for the entire fiscal year. The funding measure notably passed out of the Appropriations Committee with near unanimous support in July. Senate Majority Leader John Thune blasted Democrats for filibustering the measure during a fiery speech on the Senate floor. “After voting last week for an authorization bill to increase troop pay, Democrats just voted against the bill that would actually pay the troops,” Thune said. “They’re happy to sacrifice any American and evidently any principle to their political goals,” Thune continued. “Democrats like to position themselves as the party of the little guy and the defender of hard-working Americans, but as this vote makes clear, who do Democrats really care about?” Republican Missouri Sen. Eric Schmitt said Democrats voting down the defense spending bill shows they are “not serious about working on appropriations bills.” He also said it’s a “losing argument with the American people” when Democrats refuse to appropriate funds in an effort to resist Trump. Democratic Connecticut Sen. Richard Blumenthal told the DCNF earlier on Thursday that Congress has an “obligation” to pay the military during the shutdown, but he ultimately voted against the defense appropriations bill. “We have an obligation, and now an opportunity, to pay our military in a lawful way instead of just moving funds from one account to another, as President Trump is doing,” Blumenthal said. A majority of Senate Democrats also filibustered a bipartisan funding measure that would end the shutdown for the tenth consecutive time on Thursday morning. Fetterman, Cortez Masto and Maine Sen. Angus King, an independent who caucuses with Democrats, bucked Schumer to join Republicans in voting to reopen the government. Thune has continued to force Democrats to vote on a stopgap measure to temporarily fund the government. Schumer has been adamant that Democrats will not supply the votes to pass the measure until Republicans agree to add on unrelated healthcare policy demands to the bill. The government shutdown is expected to drag on to next week, making the funding lapse one of the longest in American history. The Senate is not expected to reconvene until Monday. Thune has voiced frustration that Democrats have consistently rejected every funding measure put on the floor during the shutdown. “At some point, reasonable Democrats are going to have to come to the conclusion that this doesn’t benefit anybody,” Thune told MSNBC’s Ali Vitali during an interview that aired Thursday. “I don’t believe government shutdowns benefit anybody, and that used to be a position that was held by the Democrat leadership.” Andi Shae Napier contributed to this report. Sherrill accuses Ciattarelli of siding with Trump after president halts major New Jersey rail project

SECAUCUS, N.J. - Democratic gubernatorial nominee Rep. Mikie Sherrill is spotlighting the political hand grenade President Donald Trump exploded smack in the middle of New Jersey's competitive and combative race for governor. With less than three weeks until Election Day, the president rocked the campaign trail in one of only two gubernatorial showdowns in the nation this year, as he "terminated" billions of federal dollars for the Gateway Project, which is funding a new train tunnel under the Hudson River connecting New Jersey and New York. Sherrill, holding a news conference Thursday at a major commuter rail station just a few miles from the site of the tunnels in one of the busiest train corridors in the nation, called the project "critical" as she took aim at Trump and her Republican rival, GOP gubernatorial nominee Jack Ciattarelli. "It's critical to the economy of the United States. But it's also critical to the men and women who commute every single day, because without these improvements, it means continuing to miss dinner, to miss soccer games, to not be able to coach teams, to not get time with your family." ONLY ON FOX: RAMASWAMY SAYS GOP VICTORIES IN THE 2025 ELECTIONS WOULD ‘SET THE TABLE’ FOR BIGGER WINS IN 2026 Sherrill, spotlighting the significance of Trump's move, added that "this tunnel project can be responsible for almost 100,000 jobs in the region. That's what's at stake. If we see delays in this, it's $1 million a day we'll be paying." And taking aim at Ciattarelli, who has the president's backing in the race to succeed term-limited Democratic Gov. Phil Murphy, Sherrill reiterated, "I'm fighting for the people of New Jersey. He's fighting to excuse Trump. It's unacceptable." CIATTARELLI WELCOMES TRUMP'S HELP IN FINAL STRETCH IN BATTLE FOR NEW JERSEY GOVERNOR The future of the Gateway Project has been in the spotlight in the showdown between Sherrill and Ciattarelli since the Trump administration, hours into the federal government shutdown, announced the freezing of billions of dollars for the tunnel, as well as for the extension of New York City's Second Avenue Subway. But Trump turned up the heat on Wednesday, with the surprise announcement on Wednesday, as he and congressional Republicans continue to blame Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer of New York, the top Democrat in the chamber, for the government shutdown. "The project in New York, it’s billions and billions of dollars that Schumer has worked 20 years to get. It’s terminated," Trump told reporters. Ciattarelli, taking to social media a couple of hours later, said, "New Jersey needs Governor who has the standing to work with, and when necessary disagree with, the President and advocate for New Jersey’s fair share of federal tax dollars — including the Gateway Tunnel. This is a critical infrastructure project and I will fight to get it done." Asked by Fox News Digital at her news conference if she took Ciattarelli at his word, Sherrill said, "I mean, that's rich, right? Because here's somebody who's tried to excuse it in every turn. Not till I've held him accountable and his back's basically to the wall that he gives this kind of milquetoast, ‘Oh, yeah. I'll fight for it.’ In what way? In what way is he going to fight for it? He's not here today. He's not pledging it in front of the trade union." "I find it really interesting that the only time he fights for the people of New Jersey is when his back to the law and I hold him accountable," she added. FINAL FACEOFF: CIATTARELLI, SHERRILL, CLASH ON DEBATE STAGE While Trump isn't on the ballot, he's loomed large over the New Jersey gubernatorial election. At last week's second and final debate, Sherrill charged that her GOP rival had "shown zero signs of standing up to this president. In fact, the president himself called Jack 100% MAGA, and he's shown every sign of being that." Asked whether he considered himself part of the MAGA movement, Ciattarelli said he was "part of a New Jersey movement." When asked to grade the president's performance so far during his second term, Ciattarelli said, "I'd certainly give the president an A. I think he's right about everything that he's doing." "I think that tells us all we need to know about who Jack Ciattarelli's supporting. I give him an F right now," Sherrill responded, as she pointed to New Jersey's high cost of living. HEAD HERE FOR THE LATEST FOX NEWS REPORTING ON THE 2025 ELECTIONS While Democrats have long dominated federal and state legislative elections in blue-leaning New Jersey, Republicans are very competitive in gubernatorial contests, winning five out of the past ten elections. And Trump made major gains in New Jersey in last year's presidential election, losing the state by only 6 percentage points, an improvement over his 16-point deficit four years earlier. Sherrill's news conference came the day after multiple sources confirmed to Fox News that Trump will hold tele-rallies with Ciattarelli. In what’s expected to be a low-turnout election, Trump’s backing could prove crucial for Ciattarelli, who’s making his third run for governor after narrowly losing to Murphy four years ago. "There's obviously a whole lot of people across the state of New Jersey that are pleased with the job the president's doing," Ciattarelli said Wednesday in a Fox News Digital interview. CLICK HERE TO GET THE FOX NEWS APP Pointing to the president's push to temporarily halt wind farms off the Jersey Shore, his vow to kill New York's congestion pricing, tax cuts, deductions, and credits in the GOP's massive domestic policy measure, and his efforts to secure the nation's southern border, Ciattarelli said that people "are very pleased with the president, what he's done for New Jersey." Trump endorsed Ciattarelli earlier this year in the GOP gubernatorial nomination race. And the president headlined a tele-rally for Ciattarelli ahead of the June primary.

“Novi sistem omogućava povećanu efikasnost u radu Instituta i njegovih klijenata, uz jasniji pregled svih postupaka i kraće vrijeme obrade zahtjeva. Novi sistem predstavlja i veliki korak ka EU tranziciji, omogućavajući pristup evropskim bazama podataka, registrima i sistemima.

Jeffrey Viel in for Bruins against Vegas, Hampus Lindholm remains out

While Hampus Lindholm’s return to the lineup will have to wait for at least another game, Jeffrey Viel will be making his season debut for the Bruins when they play a stacked Vegas Golden Knights team on Thursday (10 p.m.). The 28-year-old Viel has 54 NHL games to his credit, including five with the B’s last season. He’s also got five 100-plus PIM seasons in the AHL. He will go in for Marat Khusnutdinov on the fourth line with Sean Kuraly and Mark Kastelic. “It’s not about (Khusnutdinov),” coach Marco Sturm told reporters at T-Mobile Arena after the morning skate. “I think he played great. He did his job. We just want to have a little heavier lineup today against a heavier team and Viel did an outstanding job in preseason.” After the B’s went out and signed bottom-six players Kuraly, Tanner Jeannot and Mikey Eyssimont in the offseason, the odds for Viel making the roster out of training camp seemed slim. But he had an excellent camp, even scoring the game-winning goal in a preseason game in Philadelphia. He earned his spot. Sturm expects Viel to hit the ground running. “The nice thing about him is he’s been around for a bit and he knows,” said Sturm. “I was talking with him throughout the whole process, but I was not really worried about him because his attitude was excellent, his work ethic was excellent. He knew one of these days he’d get a crack at it and I think he will be ready tonight.” Viel vowed to bring “some energy, some physicality. Just keep my game simple and help the team as much as I can, get pucks deep in the O-zone and go from there.” As for Lindholm, who left the second game of the season with a hamstring injury, Sturm is remaining cautious. “I’m not a guy who is going to put him in a bad spot. We’ve been communicating pretty good and we thought today was not the day,” said Sturm. It will be Jeremy Swayman versus Akira Schmid in net after Adin Hill left the Knights’ last game with a lower body injury. The already stacked Vegas lineup added Mitch Marner in the offseason and the Knights have been tagged by some as Stanley Cup favorites. “It’s a Stanley Cup team. But we love those challenges and I think those are the big games we all circled,” said Sturm. Vegas could get even better shortly, if the backlash the Knights are now feeling doesn’t have a deleterious effect on the team. The Knights made some waves earlier in the day when they signed goalie Carter Hart, the former Flyer netminder who was recently acquitted in a sexual assault case in an incident when he was a junior player. Four other NHLers – Michael McLeod, Dillon Dube, Cal Foote and Alex Formenton – were also acquitted but have yet to sign with NHL teams. Hart, officially signed to a tryout deal, cannot play for the Golden Knights until Dec. 1, according to the agreement they made with the NHL.
