Here’s all you need to know: Is Minecraft down right now? Unfortunately, the answer for many players is yes. The servers have been disrupted this evening (October 29). Downdetector users started to report problems around 3.30pm British time. Thousands are continuing to flag troubles with the servers and being unable to log in. The outage has been caused by a problem with Microsoft Azure. What has happened to Microsoft Azure? On its status page, Azure explains: “Starting at approximately 16:00 UTC, customers and Microsoft services leveraging Azure Front Door (AFD) may have experienced latencies, timeouts, and errors. We have confirmed that an inadvertent configuration change was the trigger event for this issue.” It continued: “We have pushed our ‘last known good’ configuration, and customers may begin to see initial signs of recovery. We are currently recovering nodes and routing traffic through healthy nodes, and as we make progress in this workstream, customers will continue to see improvement. “Customer configuration changes will remain temporarily blocked while we continue mitigation efforts. We will notify customers once this block has been lifted. “Some customers may also have experienced issues accessing the Azure management portal. We have failed the portal away from AFD to mitigate these access issues. Customers should now be able to access the Azure portal directly, and while most portal extensions are functioning as expected, a small number of endpoints (e.g., Marketplace) may still experience intermittent loading problems. “We are continuing to monitor progress closely and will provide an ETA for full mitigation within the next 20 minutes as we assess recovery across the AFD service.” See what caused the global internet outages earlier this month. 21 injured in highway crash at Akuse junction

Twenty-one people were rushed to various hospitals after a serious accident at Akuse Junction on the Kpong–Tema Highway involving a Toyota Hiace minibus (GE 6374–22) and a Dodge Ram pickup (DV 4363Z–25). The impact left several passengers trapped, prompting a rescue operation by the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) from the Kpong Fire Station, with assistance from the Ghana Ambulance Service and Akuse Police. Some victims were reportedly rescued by bystanders before emergency teams arrived. Six of the injured were taken to the Akuse Government Hospital, while others were treated at Kings and Queens Hospital and St. Martin De Porres Hospital. Both vehicles were extensively damaged, and police have begun investigations to determine the cause of the crash.

Woman Sues SeaWorld Orlando After Allegedly Getting Hit in the Face by a Duck on Roller Coaster

A woman is suing SeaWorld Orlando after she allegedly faced a “loss of consciousness and personal injury” while riding one of the park’s main attractions. According to a complaint filed on Tuesday, Oct. 28, in Orange County, Fla., a park goer named Hillary Martin visited SeaWorld Orlando on March 24 as a “business invitee.” During her visit, the woman rode the Mako roller coaster “when a duck flew into the path of the roller coaster and stuck [her] in the face.” Martin, as represented by local firm Morgan & Morgan, is suing the park on one count of premises liability, claiming SeaWorld negligently failed “to maintain the premises in a reasonably safe condition.” The complaint further claims the park created a “zone of danger for bird strikes” by placing the high speed coaster near a body of water, increasing the risk of collision with ducks, gulls, geese and other waterfowl. Martin claims as a result of the incident, she had suffered permanent injury, disability, physical impairment and loss of earning power. The plaintiff is seeking more than $50,000 in damages. The Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services is the statewide agency responsible for inspecting amusement rides in the state. Each quarter, the department releases a report that details injuries and illnesses at exempt facilities. According to the October report, Martin’s incident was never recorded. Neither Martin’s legal team nor SeaWorld Orlando immediately responded to PEOPLE’s request for comment. This is not the first lawsuit SeaWorld Orlando has faced this year regarding an injury sustained on Mako. Local outlet Fox 35 previously reported on a child who was hit in the face with an object during a visit on or around March 15. "As a result, the impact caused an injury that required stitches to her forehead and later a development of post traumatic stress disorder and anxiety disorder," the lawsuit stated. According to SeaWorld Orlando’s website, Mako is the city’s tallest and fastest roller coaster. The attraction sends guests 200 feet in the air at speeds up to 73 mph. The ride is named for one of the ocean’s fastest known sharks. 'Global commodity prices may hit 6-yr low in 2026'

New Delhi: Global commodity prices are expected to reach a six-year low in 2026, marking the fourth straight year of decline, according to the World Bank's latest Commodity Markets Outlook. Prices are projected to fall by 7% each in 2025 and 2026 due to weakening global economic growth amid trade turmoil, crude oil glut, and continued policy uncertainty.Prices could plummet even lower if global growth remains sluggish, given the ongoing trade tensions and policy ambiguity, it noted. "Commodity markets are helping to stabilise the global economy," said Indermit Gill, the World Bank Group's chief economist and senior vice president for development economics. "Falling energy prices have contributed to the decline in global consumer-price inflation. But this respite will not last. Governments should use it to get their fiscal house in order, make economies business-ready, and accelerate trade and investment." Strong demand for liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) and petrol is fuelling India's oil consumption growth this year, the report noted.China and India together are expected to account for a quarter of global oil consumption growth in 2025 and two-fifths in 2026, the report said, citing the International Energy Agency (IEA).The World Bank forecast Brent crude prices to average $68 per barrel this year, declining $13 from last year and sliding further to $60/bbl in 2026, a five-year low, amid subdued consumption and rising supply. 90% of Americans miss this simple tax trick that can slash RMD pain — don’t be one of them

Global Desk Many retirees like to give money to charities during the holiday season, and there’s an IRS-approved way to do that while paying less tax — it’s called a Qualified Charitable Distribution. A QCD means donating money directly from your IRA (retirement account) to a charity. You don’t take the money out first, so it never counts as taxable income.Ashton Lawrence, a certified financial planner at Mariner Wealth Advisors in Greenville, South Carolina, told CNBC, “It’s one of the IRS’ best-kept secrets for retirees.” Normally, when you withdraw money from your IRA and then donate it, that money is added to your income, which can raise your tax bill. But with a QCD, the money goes straight to the charity, so it stays off your tax return completely.Simple tax trick for retireesFidelity says QCDs are good for people who are 70½ or older, already taking RMDs, and do not list itemized deductions on their taxes. They also work best for people who have large IRA savings. In 2025, the IRS lets people aged 70½ or older give up to $108,000 through a QCD. Married couples can each give $108,000.The Secure Act 2.0 now lets that $108,000 cap rise with inflation every year, so it won’t stay fixed forever. According to the IRS, about 91% of Americans take the standard deduction instead of itemizing. That means most people’s regular donations don’t lower their taxable income because they’re not claiming them as itemized deductions.A QCD solves that problem because the donation never becomes taxable income at all — “better than a deduction,” said Juan Ros, CFP and partner at Forum Financial Management in Thousand Oaks, California. Once you turn 73, you must start taking Required Minimum Distributions (RMDs) from your retirement accounts, even if you don’t need the money. If you skip it, the IRS charges a penalty.Live EventsHow to use a QCD the right wayA QCD lets you donate part or all of your RMD directly to a charity, which both fulfills the RMD rule and avoids paying taxes on that amount. “For my philanthropic clients, it’s almost a no-brainer,” said Jim Guarino, CFP and managing director at Baker Newman Noyes in Woburn, Massachusetts. To make a QCD, you must have an IRA. If your retirement savings are still in a 401(k) or another employer plan, you need to roll it over into a traditional IRA first.Most 401(k) plans allow you to transfer funds into an IRA. Once that’s done, you can ask your IRA custodian to send the donation directly to a qualified charity. It’s important that the money goes straight from your IRA to the charity — not through you — or else it could become taxable income. Timing is key. The IRS says rollovers should be completed within 60 days to avoid penalties.You cannot use QCDs for donor-advised funds or private foundations. You must make sure the charity is a qualified 501(c)(3) group before sending money. If you move your 401(k) or other savings into an IRA, you can still get all the QCD tax benefits, even if your account was not eligible before. To qualify, you must be at least 70½ years old when the money leaves your IRA, and note that SEP and SIMPLE IRAs aren’t eligible for QCDs.Always ask your IRA company to send the money straight to the charity — not to you first. Make sure the charity is a real 501(c)(3) group and save all your receipts for tax time. QCDs are not counted as income on your federal taxes, but state rules can be different. Some states follow the IRS rules, but some do not. So, it’s smart to ask your state tax office or a tax expert before donating. For retirees, a QCD is a good way to give to charity and save on taxes. UN: Developing nations face $284 billion climate funding gap

Giannis Antetokounmpo made sure the focus stayed on the floor Tuesday night, not in the rumor mill. After leading the Bucks to a 121-111 win over the Knicks with 37 points, the two-time MVP was asked about an offseason report from ESPN that Milwaukee and New York had brief trade talks involving him. Antetokounmpo waved it off. “I don’t remember that,” he said with a smile, via Eric Nehm of The Athletic. “Right now, I’m here representing my team. And that’s it. We beat the Knicks. That’s all. Doesn’t really matter. What matters right now is we have a game in two days against Golden State, try to stay locked in and get two in a row. “But I didn’t read that article. I try to stay away from all that rumors and speculation and trades. It doesn’t concern me one bit.” Antetokounmpo, drafted 15th overall in 2013, has made it clear over the years that he loves Milwaukee but wants to compete for titles. The Bucks haven’t made it out of the first round in three straight postseasons, and with two guaranteed years left on his contract plus a player option, this season could shape how long he stays. Still, beating New York — a team that swept Milwaukee last year — clearly meant something. “For sure, there was a lot extra,” Antetokounmpo said. “They swept us last year. They were way better than us last year. We didn’t make it tough for them. It was very easy, in my opinion. “As the leader of this team, I remember. I don’t forget things. Clip of Gorilla Cracking Glass Enclosure Goes Viral, but It's Actually AI and Fooling Millions

A viral clip of a gorilla slamming into the glass at the San Diego Zoo stunned social media. Now, another video claiming to show the same thing happening is circulating online, but it turns out this one is actually AI-generated. Posted on the TikTok account @funhub.ai, the video shows a gorilla running up to the glass enclosure and staring at the people on the other side. In the background, a woman says, “Look at him staring.” As the scene unfolds, the gorilla suddenly lifts its arm and smacks the glass, causing a crack. Onlookers scream and scatter in panic. “Back up, run!” one woman shouts. “Everyone run!” another man yells. The camera pans out to the hallway as visitors flee, while the gorilla’s roar echoes loudly in the background. "An angry gorilla in a zoo breaks the glass. People panic," the video is captioned. Since being posted, the video has racked up over 3.7 million views and thousands of comments, many of them debunking the clip and pointing out why it isn’t real. "There was an incident at the San Diego recently but this is not it. It was a crack only on the inside first layer ….this is AI generated and it [doesn’t] have to have the watermark," one user wrote. "I was thinking you could tell it’s AI cause when the glass broke it looked really thin. You gotta look for the little things," another commented. Another person added, "It's AI. Why would they [install] a glass vertical like that? My local zoo installed a glass about 85 degrees slant, bottom towards the building to reflect the energy away." The video was made in Sora, an AI video generator. Accounts, like @funhub.ai, share a variety of AI videos, sometimes coinciding the posts with other viral moments happening, creating the confusion. While the AI video may fool some viewers, the scenario isn’t entirely unrealistic. A similar incident, reported by ABC 10 News San Diego and KUSI, occurred on Saturday, Oct. 11, when a gorilla at the San Diego Zoo crashed into the glass wall of his enclosure, leaving a massive crack. In footage of the moment, captured by Emily Houglin and shared with PEOPLE, the gorilla charged at the glass wall of his habitat, which he shares with another gorilla. He struck the glass with a heavy thud, causing the group near the wall to gasp and yelp in fear. After the shrieks subsided, the clip shows the substantial crack Denny left behind. According to a statement from the San Diego Zoo Wildlife Alliance, obtained by PEOPLE, "On Saturday, Oct. 11, 2025, Denny, a 10-year-old western lowland gorilla, broke one layer of a three-layered tempered glass panel at the San Diego Zoo's gorilla forest habitat." Zoo officials confirmed that no one was injured during the incident, telling KUSI, "Both gorillas will be cared for behind the scenes until the panel has been replaced."
