Prince Edward’s Surrey Mansion Purchase at Market Value Contrasts with Prince Andrew’s Controversial Royal Lodge Rental

Newly surfaced details reveal that Prince Edward, the Duke of Edinburgh, is paying standard market rates for his Surrey residence, Bagshot Park, unlike his brother Prince Andrew, who enjoys a significantly reduced ‘peppercorn rent’ at Royal Lodge in Windsor. Prince Edward, who assumed the title of Duke of Edinburgh after the passing of his father, Prince Philip, in April 2021, has been residing at Bagshot Park since March 1998. Records indicate that he pays a price reflective of the property’s market value. These disclosures arise alongside reports concerning Prince Andrew’s controversial past gatherings at Royal Lodge, which included hosting the late financier Jeffrey Epstein, Ghislaine Maxwell, and film producer Harvey Weinstein in 2006. Initially, Prince Edward secured a 50-year lease for his Surrey estate, beginning at £50,000 annually. This amount later increased to £90,000 per year. Moreover, he invested £1.36 million in renovating the property. The refurbishment efforts were further supported by a £3 million contribution from the Crown Estate, ensuring the estate’s upkeep and modernization. The Crown Estate handed over another £3million for refurbishments. Meanwhile, there have been new claims that Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson have been living separate lives under one roof at Royal Lodge as it is a ‘lucrative’ and ‘mutually advantageous’ arrangement for the disgraced former couple. The former Duke and Duchess of York have been able to ‘live at a certain level’ while riding out multiple scandals from the comfort of their 30-room Grade II listed mansion, where they have lived since 2008 despite divorcing in 1996. But it is understood they are now willing to go their separate ways if they are forced out of their Windsor Estate home amid fresh scrutiny over their links to paedophile Jeffrey Epstein. Pressure has also mounted on King Charles to take action after Andrew’s leasehold agreement revealed he paid £1million to secure a 75-year lease in 2003 – and has since paid only ‘one peppercorn’ in rent per year, ‘if demanded’. On Monday, it was said the prince has finally agreed to leave Royal Lodge but has demanded he and Fergie are given two separate royal homes in exchange. Andrew is said to have requested Harry and Meghan’s former home, Frogmore Cottage, while Fergie is eyeing up nearby Adelaide Cottage ahead of the Prince and Princess of Wales’s departure next month. It also emerged last night how Andrew hosted Epstein, Ghislaine Maxwell and Harvey Weinstein at Royal Lodge in 2006. And the Daily Mail revealed how Fergie has been dumped from ITV’s Loose Women and This Morning – weeks after being dropped by a series of charities. Last week, The Mail on Sunday told how Andrew tried to involve the Metropolitan Police and one of Queen Elizabeth’s most senior aides in a campaign to smear Virginia Giuffre, who had accused him of assaulting her as a teenager. An email exposed how Andrew asked his taxpayer-funded police bodyguard to investigate the ‘lying’ young woman. The prince passed on details of her date of birth and social security number, presumably given to him by Epstein. He also claimed Virginia, who took her own life earlier this year, had criminal convictions, a claim which has not been backed up by any evidence or confirmed by police and has been strongly denied by her family. An earlier email exposé proved that Andrew lied to Buckingham Palace and the British public when he claimed he had cut off all contact with his close friend in December 2010, following Epstein’s release from prison on child-sex charges. Twelve weeks later, he emailed the sex offender financier to say they were ‘in this together’ and sickeningly expressed his wish to ‘play some more soon’. Ms Giuffre, who died by suicide in April, alleged she was forced to have sex three times with Andrew, which he vehemently denies, including when she was 17 and also during an orgy, after she was trafficked by Epstein. Andrew paid millions to settle a civil sexual assault case with her in 2022, despite insisting he had never met her. Prince Andrew has denied Ms Giuffre’s claims about him. Claims emerged this week that the prince’s ‘peppercorn’ rent on the Crown Estate property in Windsor Great Park was concealed in a redacted version of his lease submitted to the Land Registry more than 20 years ago. The Times reported the 2003 redacted version, compared with the full lease released this week, which read ‘”Rent” means’ rather than ‘”Rent” means one peppercorn (if demanded)’, and also ‘To pay the Rent’ rather than ‘To pay the Rent if demanded’. The newspaper said the decision not to reveal such details was legal. But the move raises questions as to why how much Andrew was paying was seemingly hidden from the public. The Public Accounts Committee has already confirmed it is writing to the Crown Estate and the Treasury asking for further information about the prince’s lease. The King has long been said to have tried to encourage his younger brother, who lives in the home with his ex-wife Sarah Ferguson, to move out, but Andrew signed a watertight 75-year lease on the property in 2003. His leasehold agreement revealed he paid £1million for the lease and that since then he paid ‘one peppercorn’ of rent ‘if demanded’ per year. He was also required to pay a further £7.5million for refurbishments completed in 2005, according to a report by the National Audit Office. The agreement also contains a clause that states the Crown Estate would have to pay Andrew around £558,000 if he gave up the lease.

Arsenal star breaks rank to suggest players take pay cut as huge concern emerges

Arsenal midfielder Mikel Merino has spoken out on the issue of fatigue in football amid rising concerns over player welfare. And the Spain star has suggested some athletes may be willing to reduce their weekly wage if it means preserving their health. The football schedule is packed with more fixtures than ever before, leading the likes of Pep Guardiola to scrutinise the number of matches . Fans recently witnessed the importance of the expanded FIFA Club World Cup , while the introduction of the UEFA Conference League has added a third tier of European competition for fans and players alike to get excited about. The drawback effect of that, however, is even more commitments for the top stars, many of whom may already be disheartened at the lack of respite in the calendar. Merino, 29, knows the impact all too well after playing a prominent role for Arsenal and Spain in recent years. And the playmaker gave his honest account when recently asked whether he feels the wear and tear accumulating as he approaches 30. However, Merino placed a greater emphasis on match commitments rather than his age being a factor in fatigue. "Well, I've said it quite a few times lately because it's a topic that comes up often," he told La Media Inglesa. "And rightly so, because it's something that needs to be talked about and because it's getting a bit out of hand to a certain extent, the number of matches being played. "I understand that it has to be a compromise between putting on a show for the spectators, which is why so many matches are played, because people want that show, and also because, from a business point of view it's very profitable. But on a personal level, the only thing you can do is try to take care of yourself so that you're in the best possible shape. "In the long term, I think this will change and there will come a time when, one way or another, a middle ground will be reached where players are in the best shape possible, so that those matches are of high quality. "Because there comes a point where injuries and fatigue make the matches boring to watch because there's no rhythm, because there are no chances, because players get injured, the game stops a lot, because we need to recover from one effort to the next. So, what is better for the fans?" Merino went on to highlight his personal preparation and the pride he holds in keeping himself fit. However, he couldn't get away from the suggestion that fewer matches may be required in order to get the most entertainment value out of games going forward. It was even put to the Gunners star that players might have to accept a reduction in wages in order to cut down the workload. And the Euro 2024 winner appeared in subtle agreement with the suggestion that may be a route worth exploring. "Well, that's very personal, isn't it? Priorities in life are not the same for everyone, and once you've got used to a certain status or a certain amount of money, it's difficult to go down from there," he said. "But whether you like it or not, when you think ahead about what you're going to have in the future, maybe having more money isn't worth it if you don't have a knee to be able to go running with your friends or play 7-a-side football or be with your children or grandchildren, right? So everyone has their priorities, but of course it's also a very valid way of seeing how things can work in the future." Railway Minister felicitates teams behind new rail line projects in Mizoram, Bihar

New Delhi/Guwahati, Oct 30 (IANS) Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on Thursday felicitated the teams of engineers and officials behind the successful completion of two major new rail line projects — Bairabi-Sairang in Mizoram, and Araria-Galgalia in Bihar — at a programme held in the national capital. The awards recognised the extraordinary dedication, innovation, and teamwork of Railway officials and engineers who played key roles in completing these ambitious projects that strengthen connectivity, promote regional integration, and drive inclusive growth. According to Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) Chief Public Relations Officer Kapinjal Kishore Sharma, both the Bairabi-Sairang and Araria-Galgalia projects stand as shining examples of Indian Railways’ commitment to expanding the national rail network and bridging remote regions with modern infrastructure. He said the Bairabi-Sairang new rail line project marks a historic milestone for the Northeast, providing rail connectivity to Aizawl, the capital of Mizoram, for the first time — effectively integrating the state into India’s railway grid. The 51.38-kilometre-long Bairabi–Sairang section was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Aizawl on September 13. The project showcases exceptional engineering, comprising 45 tunnels, 143 bridges (including one taller than Delhi’s Qutub Minar), and four new stations at Hortoki, Kawnpui, Mualkhang, and Sairang. “Despite extremely challenging terrain and adverse weather, the Northeast Frontier Railway (Construction) team successfully executed this complex project, which will boost trade, tourism, and socio-economic development across Mizoram and the wider Northeast,” Sharma said. Similarly, the Araria-Galgalia broad gauge rail line, spanning 110.75 kilometres, has achieved full completion following statutory inspection by Commissioner of Railway Safety Sumeet Singhal between July 9 and 11. The new section was inaugurated by Prime Minister Modi on September 15, when he flagged off the first passenger train service on the route. The line, constructed under the Northeast Frontier Railway zone, includes 64 major bridges, 264 minor bridges, and 15 stations, with authorisation for train operations at speeds up to 100 kmph. The project is expected to strengthen regional connectivity and fuel development in Bihar and adjoining areas, Sharma said. Senior Railway officials, including Satish Kumar, Chairman and CEO of the Railway Board; Arun Kumar Chaudhary, General Manager (NFR Construction); Anjani Kumar and Hitendra Goyal, Chief Administrative Officers (NFR Construction); and several engineers and project members attended the felicitation ceremony. The Northeast Frontier Railway, headquartered in Maligaon, Guwahati, operates across the Northeastern states, seven districts of West Bengal, and five districts of north Bihar, managing more than 7,362 track kilometres of railway lines. Currently, four Northeastern state capitals — Dispur (Guwahati) in Assam, Agartala in Tripura, Naharlagun near Arunachal Pradesh’s capital Itanagar, and Sairang near Mizoram’s capital Aizawl — are connected by rail. Work is underway to link Imphal, the capital of Manipur, to the national rail network. The two newly completed projects are part of Indian Railways’ larger mission to bring the entire Northeast under the national railway map, enabling economic growth, improved accessibility, and greater national integration.

Trinamool expels Birbhum councillor accused of raping woman on false promise of marriage

Kolkata, Oct 30 (IANS) The Trinamool Congress on Thursday expelled a party councillor from Birbhum district after he was accused of raping a woman on the false promise of marriage. The decision came within 24 hours of the filing of a police case against him. According to the party, Priyanath Sau, the accused councillor and vice-president of the Rampurhat city Trinamool committee, was expelled following directions from Abhishek Banerjee, Trinamool Congress national general secretary and leader of the party in the Lok Sabha. An FIR was registered against Sau on Wednesday based on a complaint lodged by a young woman who alleged that he concealed his marriage and entered into a physical relationship with her under the false pretext of marrying her, only to later renege on his promise. Deputy Speaker of the West Bengal Assembly and Rampurhat Trinamool Congress MLA Ashish Banerjee announced the disciplinary action at the party office in Rampurhat on Thursday afternoon. “The decision to expel him was taken after a thorough review by Abhishek Banerjee. Our leader does not believe in rash decisions. After verifying all aspects of the matter, he instructed us to expel the councillor from the party for an indefinite period,” Banerjee told reporters. According to the police complaint, the victim said she met Sau in 2015 while preparing her voter identity card. She alleged that although he was already married and had a child, he hid this fact from her and repeatedly raped her over the years on the promise of marriage. “When her family later approached Sau for marriage, he refused, claiming he was already married,” the complaint stated. A senior officer of the Birbhum district police confirmed that a case had been registered and investigation had begun. “A case has been registered. We have started an investigation and are looking into all aspects of the allegations,” the officer said. As of Thursday evening, the police had not arrested the accused councillor. The expulsion comes amid a series of image-sensitive disciplinary measures by the Trinamool Congress in recent months, with the party leadership stressing that individuals facing criminal charges would not be shielded or tolerated.

‘Love Island USA’ alum Huda Mustafa apologizes to Olandria Carthen for racial slur controversy

“Love Island USA” alum Huda Mustafa is apologizing and taking accountability for a racial slur controversy involving her former co-star Olandria Carthen. Mustafa, 25, and her boyfriend, fellow reality personality Louis Russell, were recently livestreaming when someone called in and used the N-word to refer to Carthen. The couple appeared taken aback, giggled and quickly ended the call. After collecting themselves, Russell repeated, “Hey,” in a disappointed tone before Mustafa asked, “Yo, what the f–k? What did they say? They said a bad word.” Russell, 24, agreed, adding, “They said a terrible word.” The moment quickly went viral, prompting Mustafa to instantly take to her Instagram Story to claim she and Russell “did not hear it very well” but still “hung up immediately” after clocking “the racial slur.” She added that the two laughed because it was “awkward and inappropriate,” arguing that “whoever said it is in the wrong.” As for Russell, who is black, he posted his own statement on his Instagram Story in which he explained his “flustered response to a very unnerving situation.” The “Too Hot to Handle” and “Perfect Match” alum called the caller’s behavior “harmful and dangerous,” adding that he and his girlfriend “are both very proud of the way [they’ve] used [their] platform to be a voice for those who are often under-represented, especially on TV.” Carthen, 27 responded to the situation on her Instagram Story as well, telling her followers that “that kind of language is never acceptable. Not in anger, not as a joke, not ever,” as “words like that carry generations of pain.” She went on to ask for “real accountability and awareness” before encouraging “those who have participated in the stream and their followers to demonstrate a genuine commitment to anti-racism by donating to organizations and foundations dedicated to educating and uplifting this community.” Mustafa returned to her Instagram Story the following day to say she had taken the time to “reflect and collect [her] thoughts” so she could “more fully take accountability for [her] actions.” Acknowledging the “gravity” of the word in question, Mustafa apologized directly to Carthen for her “immediate reaction,” which “came from being caught off guard, not from finding the word or situation funny.” She insisted that it was “a nervous, uncomfortable” response but admitted that it was “inappropriate” nonetheless. Mustafa concluded her message by pledging to make “a personal donation to the NAACP.”

Wedding photographer’s complaint about couple she shot sparks viral ‘entitlement’ debate

A heated debate has been sparked after a wedding photographer complained that the couple whose special day she was capturing didn’t feed her at all. The Australian photographer, in a since-deleted video, shared a clip to herself of social media pulling an unhappy face. “How it feels when you don’t get a vendor meal at a wedding,” the woman captioned the clip. Like all healthy wedding etiquette debate, the photographer’s comment about the lack of food didn’t disappoint. Some suggested the photographer was being entitled while others said it should be a given that vendors get fed while working. “Do people do their best work when they are hungry,” asked business woman Storm Menzies, founder of ByStorm Beauty. “No. isn’t it just being savvy to ensure that the people who are making your day special are well fed, so they perform their best? (if you don’t believe it’s just common courtesy).” Other social media users weighed in with a counter argument. “My boss doesn’t bring my lunch to work for me so why would I feed someone who’s already paid to do a job a meal that would cost me an extra $50 on top of my already expensive wedding? Does that mean that the bride should feed the florist for making the flowers‍,” someone asked. One added: “I’m too Islander for that. What do you mean not feeding someone that’s doing an eight hour day.” “Honestly it would never even occur to me to pay for an extra meal for vendors however I don’t have anyone that would be there all day,” another argued. “Photographer would be there maximum four hours, band is only there a few hours. I would expect them to eat before and after their shift. I would have no issue for them to have a quick break to eat a snack that they brought with them,” one wrote. “If a vendor is there for 8-10 hours, they should have in their contract what their break times are or if they require a meal. I think expecting a meal is crazy entitlement.” Someone else commented: “My nan always taught us to feed whoever is at your house at meal times, so why would it be any different at a wedding? They will absolutely be getting fed at my wedding.” “What other workplace demands the client supply lunch? Super weird! Bring your own lunch and snacks,” another added. As this person pointed out: “I wouldn’t expect to be fed but it’s just nice to give them food if you can afford it.” “Usually I wouldn’t care and it’s a meal but it the photographer is charging $4,000 they really should be prepared,” one said. Another comment read: “Aussie here, supply you own food unless it’s part of your contract. Always have transparency n a contract then everyone is on the same page. Never assume someone in a business contract should or should not do something or not do something.” “Photographers and videographers, hair and makeup artists and DJs 100 per cent should get fed vendor meals. but I had a florist request meals despite only being allowed two hours bump in,” one shared. Someone in the know weighed in: “Used to be a wedding photographer, I never made it mandatory in my own contracts and brought my own food. However 99 per cent of the time the couple would organise my dinner.” “Basic hospitality is a stretch for some couples and venues,” one said. Another added: “My Macedonian and Italian family would FORCE feed them.” Claudia Sokolova is a Sydney-based wedding planner and content creator — and even walked down the aisle herself two years ago. Sokolova, who runs @thebigdayeventsau, didn’t create the original video but weighed in on the topic. Speaking to news.com.au, Sokolova said for her own wedding it “wasn’t even a question” that she would feed her vendors. It was a given. “Even throughout the day — canapes, grazing table, morning of breakfast — making sure everybody’s eaten and had something to drink and had a glass of wine,” she said. “That was a non-negotiable for us.” As someone who works in the wedding space — whether that is planning or capturing the day on camera — Sokolova has been part of more than 150 weddings in the last three years. She’s only not been given a meal at two of them. “Every industry has their own standards and the wedding industry standard is that vendors get fed,” she said. “It’s out of the norm for vendors not to be fed a meal.” The wedding planner said she remembers that she wasn’t fed at two weddings because it was so out of the norm that it stuck with her. Sokolova said there were two distinct sides to the debate — people who couldn’t fathom not feeding their vendors and people who said they didn’t get fed at their corporate job so why should couples feed people working for them. “I think there is a lack of understanding where people think vendors are getting fed the three course meal that the guests are — that’s just not true,” she said. She said that vendors weren’t robots, they were human beings, adding vendors bend over backwards for the couple who is getting married and they do deserve to be treated well.

Mikey Roynon manslaughter convictions quashed for two teenagers jailed over party death

Cartel Bushnell and Leo Knight, who were jailed for the manslaughter of 16-year-old Mikey Roynon at a birthday party, have had their convictions quashed, it can now be reported. Bushnell, 17, and Knight, 18, had their convictions quashed at the Court of Appeal after they were jailed for manslaughter. Shane Cunningham fatally stabbed Mikey Roynon in the neck with a zombie knife. Mikey died from a single stab wound at a property in Bath, Somerset, in June 2023, despite the best efforts of emergency staff to save him. During the trial, the jury heard of the possibility that Mikey might have had a knife on him. But it emerged Mikey did not have a knife on him when he died and detectives found no other evidence to support this claim. Cunningham remains in prison and was convicted of his murder following a trial at Bristol Crown Court. Both Bushnell and Knight were found guilty of manslaughter by joint enterprise - which is applied when it is believed someone has assisted another with a crime. The pair have served more than two years behind bars but have successfully appealed their sentence. A re-trial had been slated for next month, but at a hearing at Bristol Crown Court, Christopher Quinlan KC, said there was "no longer a realistic prospect" for the manslaughter conviction. In a statement, a Crown Prosecution spokesperson said: "Due to changes with the evidence available and after careful review, it was decided there was no longer a realistic prospect of conviction." Today, three judges said the prosecution had “offered no evidence” in either case, meaning reporting restrictions could be lifted. In their judgment, Baroness Carr said there had been an “accidental, but critical, error” in directions given to the jury around how to reach their verdict, making the convictions “unsafe”. During the trial, Cunningham, of Devizes, Wiltshire, claimed he was acting in self-defence when he stabbed Mikey after claiming his victim had swung a knife towards his friends in the garden. Mr Justice Saini ruled that Cunningham, Bushnell and Knight could be identified at their sentencing hearing despite their ages, after an application by the PA news agency. Passing sentence, the judge said Mikey’s “future looked promising” and that his family had suffered a "loss which is unimaginable." He said Bristol and the surrounding areas “are in the middle of a plague of knife crime”. - This is a breaking news story. First-time offenders caught by e-ticketing system can have fines waived after apology: Sindh CM

Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah said on Wednesday that first-time offenders caught by the newly implemented traffic e-ticketing system can have their fines waived within 10 days by appearing in person and submitting an apology, according to a press release. The CM inaugurated the Traffic Regulation and Citation System (TRACS), commonly known as the e-ticketing system, at the Central Police Office (CPO) on Monday. He explained that the new system replaces the outdated manual ticketing process with a fully automated e-ticketing mechanism, utilising advanced AI-integrated CCTV cameras to detect violations such as speeding, red-light jumping, and helmet non-compliance. According to the press release, CM Shah received a report from Sindh Inspector General of Police Ghulam Nabi Memon detailing traffic rule violations under the new system, which has issued fines to 35 official vehicles for various infractions. “According to the report, e-challans were issued for offences such as not wearing seatbelts, running red lights, using tinted windows, and operating mobile phones while driving,” the press release stated. The report revealed that a police vehicle was fined for a seatbelt violation on the Lyari Expressway at 1:36pm on Tuesday. Traffic Deputy Inspector General Peer Muhammad Shah informed the chief minister that the vehicle’s driver was twice observed not wearing a seatbelt between Garden and Lyari Expressway, triggering the automated system to issue a Rs10,000 fine, according to the press release. “The CM said that first-time offenders can have their fines waived within 10 days by appearing in person and submitting an apology,” the press release stated. “Even the police must comply with traffic regulations. This system upholds fairness and accountability for all citizens,” CM Shah was quoted as saying. The press release added the provincial chief executive underlined the importance of traffic law compliance for public safety and directed that while first-time offenders can have their challans waived, repeat offenders would pay fines without exception. “All citizens have equal rights under the law — compliance must be ensured across the board,” CM Shah added. On Tuesday, more than 2,650 electronic challans were issued by the Karachi Traffic Police following the inauguration of the new e-ticketing system. According to the Sindh police, 1,535 challans were issued for not wearing a seat belt, 507 challans for riding a motorcycle without a helmet, 419 for speeding, 166 for running a red light, and 32 for using a mobile phone while driving. Additionally, seven challans were issued for putting tints on vehicle windows, five challans each for improper parking and parking in a no-parking zone, four for stop line violation, and three each for lane line violation and driving on the wrong way. In June, the Sindh government decided that e-challans for traffic violations would be delivered to vehicle owners’ registered home addresses. Vehicles with unpaid fines would not be allowed to be sold or transferred. The decision came amid Karachi witnessing a surge in traffic accidents, particularly involving dumpers and water tankers, that killed nearly 500 people and injured 4,879 in 2024, according to hospital data. The spate of deadly incidents triggered protests over citizens’ deaths, prompting the provincial government to ban heavy vehicles during daytime hours and require them to obtain fitness certificates.

Celia Imrie's courageous move on Celebrity Traitors 'could see her win the series'

Celebrity Traitors star Celia Imrie has been branded the as a 'perfect' Miss Marple of the series, following the latest episode where the Faithfuls finally caught out Traitor Jonathan Ross. While Celia previously admitted that she has "a bit of a crush" on Jonathan, she didn’t let that cloud her judgment as she voted for Jonathan on several occasions before her fellow Faithfuls joined together to vote him out for good. Celia was also praised by body language expert Judi James, who labelled the actress the ‘leader of the Faithfuls’ and said she can do something ‘most people lack the courage to do’. Judi told Paddy Power Bingo: “Celia is a delight for so many reasons, notably her one-liners and her apparent lack of deception and her fearlessness. She will front people out and her fronting out of Alan saw him squirming for real, mainly because she does something most people lack the courage to do when confronting others, which is to sustain the scrutiny.” She added: “Celia has become the leader of the Faithfuls, possibly without realising it. She is the perfect Miss Marple on the show, but she has a non-verbal trait that most actors in a role lack, which will help her popularity with the viewers.” Judi added that ‘Celia’s facial muscles and her lines’ pull perfectly into ‘all the personality traits she is showing on this show’. “She has achieved the state of appearing to ‘be herself’ but to still be wildly entertaining, theatrical, and engaging. Her congruence is probably why she should win this competition.” It comes as Jonathan's reign as lead Traitor has ended after he was voted out by not only the Faithfuls but his fellow Traitors, Cat Burns and Alan Carr. Jonathan was a Traitor on the series from the very first episode but it took the Faithfuls quite some time to find him out. The presenter made a shocking exit speech where he tried to convince everyone he was Faithful until the end. However, he then lifted the veil and revealed the real truth. The star didn't hold back when it came to his exit speech, with him branding his fellow contestants as "idiots" before revealing his Traitor status. “I’ve got no idea what everyone’s doing wrong," he told them. "I can’t believe you’ve done it again. I can’t believe that I’m standing here for no good reason I don’t want to be rude, but, you’re idiots! "I’m not judging, because it’s fiendish - I’m not blaming the players, I’m blaming the game. I am now, and have been all through the game, completely Faithful,” he insisted, as heads went into hands around the table, before he added: “To the Traitors !" Everyone cheered that they had finally managed to catch a Traitor after weeks of not being able to. Cat Burns and Alan Carr are the two remaining Traitors in the game. Like this story? Brit arrested in Ukraine accused of spying for Putin's Russia

A British man has been detained in Ukraine accused of spying for Russia and plotting "terrorist attacks". Kyiv prosecutors said the unnamed man passed sensitive information to Russian intelligence while working as a military instructor. He allegedly gathered intel on facilities in Odesa, tried to access military units and discussed "the possibility of using explosive devices". One task reportedly earned him £5,148, according to prosecutors. Ukraine's security service, the SBU, said he had been "preparing to commit terrorist attacks" in a separate statement. The SBU said Russian spies sent him instructions on making an improvised explosive device and gave him the location of a weapons cache, from which he allegedly took a pistol and two loaded magazines. The man is said to have arrived in Ukraine in January 2024 and ran "instructional sessions for military personnel in Mykolaiv", a city near the front line in the south of the country. He then moved to the port city of Odesa in September, where prosecutors say he was in contact with a "representative of the Russian special service" and agreed to sell military information. Evidence suggests that in May he sent the location of Ukrainian units, photos of training areas and personal details of military personnel, according to prosecutors. The SBU also said he had "professional skills in fire and tactical training" and openly advertised on "pro-Kremlin internet groups" that he was willing to spy. The man was detained at his "temporary residence" in Kyiv, the SBU said. He appeared in court this week and was held without bail while a pre-trial investigation took place. Ukrainian security services say he could face up to 12 years in prison. The UK Foreign Office said it was aware of the reports and is "in close contact with the Ukrainian authorities". This appears to be the first publicly reported case of a British national facing espionage charges in Ukraine. It comes as three men, aged 44, 45 and 48, were recently arrested on suspicion of assisting Russia's intelligence service, the Metropolitan Police said. The men were detained by Counter Terrorism Policing at addresses in west and central London last Thursday and remain in police custody under section 3 of the National Security Act, the force added. Commander Dominic Murphy, head of Counter Terrorism Policing London, said: "We’re seeing an increasing number of who we would describe as ‘proxies’ being recruited by foreign intelligence services and these arrests are directly related to our ongoing efforts to disrupt this type of activity. "Anyone who might be contacted by and tempted into carrying out criminal activity on behalf of a foreign state here in the UK should think again. This kind of activity will be investigated and anyone found to be involved can expect to be prosecuted and there are potentially very serious consequences for those who are convicted."
