Bill Belichick Could Make Major Concession to Land Giants Coaching Job

On Monday, the New York Giants became the second NFL team to fire a head coach when they announced Brian Daboll would no longer be leading the team. More News: College Football Program Generates Major Buzz After Jumping in CFP Ranking Unlike the Tennessee Titans, the Giants and University of North Carolina head coach Bill Belichick could have a mutual interest in teaming up for 2026. Belichick was an assistant coach for the Giants from 1980 to 1990. He won two Super Bowls as the defensive coordinator in New York under then-head coach Bill Parcells. When speaking to reporters on Tuesday, Belichick didn’t deny interest in returning to coach the Giants in the NFL, saying he was focused on the Tar Heels upcoming game against Wake Forest on Saturday. EAST RUTHERFORD, NEW JERSEY – NOVEMBER 26: Head coach Bill Belichick of the New England Patriots and Head coach Brian Daboll of the New York Giants hug after New York’s 10-7 win at MetLife Stadium on November 26, 2023 in East Rutherford, New Jersey. (Photo by Al Bello/Getty Images) More News: Ole Miss Players Speak Out on Lane Kiffin to Florida Rumors “Getting ready for Wake Forest, that’s all I got this week,” Belichick said. “I’ve been asked about (an NFL return) from time to time. Look, I’ve been down this road before. I’m focused on Wake Forest, that’s it. That’s my commitment to this team. Next week it’ll be to our next opponent and so forth. I’m here to do the best I can for this team.” Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk thinks there is a possibility Belichick would leave for the Giants. However, he’d have to sell a plan that doesn’t make general manager Joe Schoen uncomfortable. New York retained Schoen after firing Daboll. “The challenge becomes getting G.M. Joe Schoen (who’s running the search) on board with the possibility of a Big Blue Belichick reunion,” Florio wrote. “Falcons owner Arthur Blank ultimately didn’t hire Belichick in 2024 after, it’s believed, an internal uprising sparked by concerns that Belichick would neutralize (if not eliminate) much of the front office. “If Belichick has been sufficiently humbled by his post-Patriots NFL snubs to embrace being the coach and only the coach, could it work?” Belichick, 73, could be desperate and humble enough to make the concessions necessary to return to the NFL. North Carolina has won its last two games, but Belichick is a disappointing 4-5 overall in his first season in Chapel Hill. It seems unlikely that the Giants will hire Belichick. But the six-time Super Bowl champion head coach has every reason to want to return to the league and finish his career better than he did with the New England Patriots in the post-Tom Brady era. Belichick’s 302 wins are third all-time in the NFL behind George Halas (318) and Don Shula (328). He’d have a chance to eclipse both in a few seasons if he had immediate success with the Giants. Karan Johar Wants To Make Kuch Kuch Hota Hai Remake With 'Younger Nepo Babies'; Ananya, Janhvi, Sara On List?

Karan Johar's Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (KKHH) won our hearts years back and is still relevant in today's time as "pyaar dosti hai". In a recent chat, Karan Johar has revealed which actors he would cast if he were to reimagine the iconic romance today. Interestingly, top stars like Ranbir Kapoor, Deepika Padukone, and Kiara Advani didn’t make the list. Younger nepo babies to be a part of modern KKHH In a recent conversation with Sania Mirza for Myntra’s Glam Stream, Karan Johar named Alia Bhatt as his choice for the modern-day Anjali, Ranveer Singh as Rahul, and Ananya Panday as Tina. He also hinted that the role of Tina could alternatively go to Janhvi Kapoor or Sara Ali Khan, playfully referring to this generation of young stars as “younger nepo babies.” Karan on Nepotism: “None of Their Parents Have Ever Called Me” Addressing the topic of nepotism, Karan clarified that he has never hired anyone at the request of their parents. “I know they are nepo babies. I’ve seen them grow up in front of me. But none of their parents have ever called me. I have always been the one to call,” he said. He also mentioned that some actors have even declined his offers. ALSO READ: Cocktail 2: Shahid Kapoor Gets Into Prep Mode For Homi Adajania Film With Intense Dumbbell Training Session - See Pic Reflecting on Dharma Productions’ Journey Karan also reflected on the evolution of Dharma Productions, tracing its journey from Yash Johar’s first film Dostana (1980) to the studio’s challenges with films like Duniya and Agneepath. The turning point came with Kuch Kuch Hota Hai in 1998, starring Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol, and Rani Mukerji. The film’s massive success revived the banner, paving the way for Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham and establishing Dharma Productions as a Bollywood powerhouse, now valued at approximately Rs 2,000 crore. While Karan hasn’t yet directed any of the new-generation actors in full-length roles, Ananya, Janhvi, and Sara made cameo appearances in his recent film Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani, specifically in the song Heart Throb, offering fans a glimpse of what a modern-day KKHH might look like. Upcoming Projects from Dharma Productions Karan Johar is gearing up for an exciting slate of projects under his Dharma Productions banner, reflecting his desire to explore new genres and nurture fresh talent. One of these is Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri, a romantic drama starring Kartik Aaryan and Ananya Panday, slated for release in early 2026. Another is the high-concept fantasy-comedy Naagzilla, featuring Kartik in the lead, scheduled for an August 2026 release. Forests Minister Parmar in Asia trying to find new customers for B.C. lumber

Forests Minister Ravi Parmar is in the midst of an eight-day trade mission to Asia to forge some new ties for B.C.’s forestry industry, blaming U.S. tariffs for recent mill closures and trying to find new places to sell B.C. wood products. “The reason these mills are curtailing and closing is not because of government policy, rather because of the actions of Donald Trump and his assertive tactics on forestry workers in our forest sector in British Columbia,” he told reporters in a call from Tokyo on Wednesday. But B.C. Conservative Forests critic Ward Stamer doesn’t see it that way, arguing that the B.C. government has hampered the province’s forestry sector through excessive rules and regulations. “For whatever reason, this government doesn’t seem to want to make any changes to policy or regulations and recognize that it’s not just Donald Trump’s fault, it’s not just the federal government’s fault,” Stamer told Black Press Media. Both acknowledge that the recent announcement of the closure of the West Fraser timber mill in 100 Mile House is a result of the company being unable to access economically viable timber. Parmar said the company applied for seven permits this year — and was granted every one within 25 days — but that was all the profitable timber the company could find to log. “When you have 45-per-cent duties and tariffs, full fibre no longer becomes viable for them to move, especially when you’re reliant on the United States as a sole trading partner,” he said. “It’s why we have to diversify.” Parmar’s mission to Asia includes stops in South Korea and Japan, and he is joined on the trip by First Nations leaders and industry representatives. Japan is the second-largest market for B.C. lumber by value, buying $887 million worth of product in 2024. This is still dwarfed by the U.S., which in 2024 took in 74.8 per cent of B.C.’s softwood lumber, worth roughly $4.5 billion. Parmar said he has already struck a couple of deals that have resulted in the signing of memorandums of understanding for companies to buy Canadian wood products. While he promotes the forestry industry, Parmar defended the province’s record on environmental protection, despite a new Sierra Club report that the province “continues to prioritize timber supply over ecological resilience. Parmar said old-growth logging is down more than 50 per cent since 2021, when old-growth deferrals were introduced. “It shows a clear downward trend,” he said. The Sierra Club counters that much of the land set aside was already in the process of protection before the deferrals were introduced, and that logging is still four times more likely in at-risk forests recommended for deferral than on other stands of old growth. The Sierra Club’s study found that nearly five per cent of the 11 million hectares of old-growth forest that existed in B.C. in 2021 has been logged in the four years since. Critic wants companies to earn more per tree Stamer, a former logger himself, wants the government to ease restrictive regulations to ensure forestry companies can get more money per log, while making it cheaper to do business. He gave the example of the added costs of the requirement to build a bridge instead of a fish culvert on certain logging roads. “That’s 10 times more than a fish culvert,” he said of the cost. Stamer doesn’t deny that the tariffs have some impact — saying it’s good that Parmar is over in Asia trying to strike some new deals — but he doesn’t think that will get the fibre moving in the short term. A couple of quick actions that Stamer suggested are making it easier for companies to access burnt timber after fires, and for the province to encourage the use of scraps that end up in burn piles for biomass power generation systems. “If I were the forests minister, I wouldn’t be having junk piles that we would burn,” he said. “I’d be making sure that we could be grinding it up and creating electricity, just like our pulp mills are doing.” On the whole, Stamer wants trade diversification, but said there is more the provincial government could do to make things easier for industry. “The minister is pointing the fingers in the wrong direction because he should also be pointing at himself,” he said. “This government is partly responsible for the mess that we’re in.”

Rob Gronkowski Debates The Greatest Catch From His Playing Career

What is Rob Gronkowski's best catch of all time? Not even Gronkowski can decide. But when the all-time great tight end returned to New England after signing a ceremonial one-day contract to retire as a member of the Patriots on Wednesday, he posed two options. One was a catch against the Buffalo Bills, the other — a grab against the Denver Broncos. In the catch against the Bills, which occurred in Week 16 of the 2017 NFL season, Tom Brady connected with Gronkowski in the front corner of the end zone for a touchdown as the tight end broke free of Buffalo defensive back Micah Hyde to reel in the ball with his right paw. The catch tied the game at 10, and the Patriots used the momentum to build a 37-16 victory. "I always love to stick it to them," Gronkowski said, making reference to the fact that he grew up in the Buffalo area. The catch against the Broncos came in the fourth quarter of a game on Nov. 2, 2014, essentially sealing a 43-21 win for the Patriots. Brady rifled a pass across the middle of the field, and Gronkowski reached up his left arm, the one he had broken in the 2013 playoffs, to haul in the pass. He was taken down on the 1-yard line, but scored on the following play. "I caught it with my broken forearm," Gronkowski said. "[Tom] threw it up there and I just turned around, and just one-handed and brought it in." Gronkowski had a great week back in New England seven years after playing his final snap for the team. "It's great being back here, all the memories are flowing," he said. Want great stories delivered right to your inbox? Unemployment falls to 4.3 per cent, exceeding forecasts

Australia's unemployment rate has plunged to 4.3 per cent, further diminishing hopes of more Reserve Bank rate cuts as the labour market shows signs of ongoing strength. About 42,000 jobs were added to the economy in October, while the number of unemployed peopled fell by 17,000, the Australian Bureau of Statistics revealed on Thursday. The unemployment rate fell by 20 basis points, unwinding a commensurate spike the month prior. "The October unemployment rate is in line with June, July, and August 2025," ABS head of labour statistics Sean Crick said. The jump in employment exceeded economist forecasts of about 20,000 jobs. Analysts and the RBA anticipated unemployment to edge down to 4.4 per cent. In their latest economic forecasts released in November, RBA staff predicted the unemployment rate would remain stable at 4.4 per cent for the foreseeable future. Several indicators, such as low underemployment, an above-average share of firms struggling to find workers, a high ratio of vacancies to unemployed workers and strong growth in unit labour costs suggested the labour market remained tight, the bank said. Full time employment rose by 55,000, while part-time employment fell by 13,000. The participation rate held steady at 67.0 per cent. Despite the fall in unemployment, the trend since the start of 2025 has been one of a distinct gradual softening in labour market conditions. After inflation was substantially higher than RBA forecasts in the September quarter, today's surprise result lends further weight to the idea that the economy is running near capacity and inflationary pressures are not going away. How jobs and inflation data continues to unfold will play a crucial role in whether the RBA can afford to cut interest rates again in 2026, or whether it deems conditions too tight to afford any more relief for borrowers. It might be time to fill out your Anthony Weaver apology form — Miami’s defense has quietly undergone a stunning midseason transformation by nearly any measure

Take your pick of any measure of defensive football. Any one! Go ahead. Points? In Weeks 1-5, Miami was allowing 29 points per game. Over the last five weeks, it's nearly a full touchdown less (22.2 points per game to be exact). It'd be even better if not for a Week 7 pick-six by Tua Tagovailoa and several other short fields the defense had to defend against Cleveland and Baltimore, too. Yards per play? Miami is averaging a full yard less per play over the last five weeks than they did in the first five weeks of the season. (6.4 yards per play allowed in Weeks 1-5 versus 5.4 in Weeks 6-10). That's an improvement of 15 spots in the NFL rankings, from 31st to 16th. The Dolphins are averaging 69 less rushing yards per game allowed. Their net yards per attempt conceded on pass attempts is more than a full yard lower (7.8, T-30th in Weeks 1-5 versus 6.7, T-15th in Weeks 6-10). Miami was conceding 50% of third-down attempts in the first month of the season. That number has been cut to 33.8% in the last five weeks (12th best mark in the NFL). Perhaps raw numbers aren't your thing. Perhaps you're more partial to efficiency metrics. Walk with me.The Dolphins allowed 3.07 points per possession defensively through the first five weeks of the season. That number is down to 1.93 points per possession in the last five weeks, an improvement that has Miami ranked 12th best in the NFL since Week 6. The number of possessions ending in punts has doubled from 20% to 40.7%. That latter mark for Weeks 6-10? It ranks 7th in the NFL. The unit's three & out rate (three plays and punt) defensively has also doubled from 17.8% to 35.2%. 2025 Miami Dolphins' Defensive Splits (Weeks 1-5 versus Weeks 6-10) Points per game: 29.0 versus 22.2 Yards per game: 386.6 versus 307.2 Yards per play: 6.4 versus 5.4 Third down conversion rate: 50% versus 33.8% Defensive EPA/game ranking: 30th versus 12th Their blitz rate is down six percent while their pressure rate is, simultaneously, up. Their sack rate is up, albeit still not ranking where you'd ideally like to see it among the league's best. Don't mistake this as a suggestion that Miami is always playing great defense. But man, the shift in the last month is stunning nonetheless. Perhaps the most glaring shift is in Expected Points Added per game, where Miami went from ranked 30th in the NFL in Weeks 1-5 to ranked 13th in Weeks 6-10 with the same personnel. They've gone from dead last in the league in defensive EPA/game against the run to No. 2 in the NFL over the last five weeks. And, reminder, they've played the Ravens, the Bills, and the Falcons in the last three games. The Falcons and Bills rank in the top-12 in the NFL in rushing EPA per game. This has all been accomplished with no notable additions through free agency or trades. There have been no major October additions to change the landscape of the depth chart. As a matter of fact, Miami traded away one of their best defenders, Jaelan Phillips, ahead of the trade deadline. So what has changed? Time. Time on task is a real thing. The starting secondary is comprised of a veteran acquired via trade in July, a Day 3 rookie, and pair of veteran corners signed in August. The next most intriguing player, JuJu Brents, was an August waiver claim. This unit has got the reps together now. Let it be a reminder of why Anthony Weaver is so well respected as a coach. He was getting head coaching interviews last offseason, only to watch his unit get gutted via personnel. As it turns out, he didn't forget how to coach. He just had to get these guys to learn how to play together. And it's coming into focus, now. window.addEventListener('message', function (event) {if (event.data.totalpoll && event.data.totalpoll.action === 'resizeHeight') {document.querySelector('#totalpoll-iframe-426').height = event.data.totalpoll.value;}}, false);document.querySelector('#totalpoll-iframe-426').contentWindow.postMessage({totalpoll: {action: 'requestHeight'}}, '*'); This story was originally reported by A to Z Sports on Nov 13, 2025, where it first appeared in the NFL section. California revokes 17,000 commercial driver’s licenses for immigrants

By JOSH FUNK California plans to revoke 17,000 commercial driver’s licenses given to immigrants after the Trump administration raised concerns about people in the country illegally improperly receiving licenses to drive a semitruck or a bus. But Gov. Gavin Newsom said that isn’t the reason. Newsom said the revocations are for violations of state law, but he didn’t provide specifics. Both the Democratic governor’s office and the Republican Trump Administration’s Transportation Department agreed that these licenses violated the existing standard that were in place before Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy recently tightened the rules following a nationwide commercial driver’s license audit launched after a driver in the country illegally made a U-turn and caused a crash in Florida that killed three people. Fatal truck crashes in Texas and Alabama earlier this year also highlight questions about these licenses. A fiery California crash involving an illegal immigrant truck driver last month that killed three more people only added to the concerns. California state transportation officials didn’t immediately respond to questions seeking more details about why these licenses are being revoked. Duffy said Wednesday that California’s action to revoke these licenses is an admission that the state had acted improperly even though the state had previously defended its licensing standards. California launched its review of commercial driver’s licenses the state had issued after Duffy raised concerns. Duffy previously imposed new restrictions on which immigrants can qualify for one of these commercial driver’s licenses. He said earlier this fall that California and five other states had improperly issued commercial driver’s licenses to noncitizens, but California is the only state Duffy has taken action against because it was the first one where an audit was completed. The reviews in the other states have been delayed by the government shutdown, but the Transportation Department is urging all of them to tighten up their standards. Duffy revoked $40 million in federal funding because he said California isn’t enforcing English language requirements for truckers, and he reiterated Wednesday that he will take another $160 million from the state over these improperly issued licenses if they don’t invalidate every illegal license and address all the concerns. But revoking these licenses is part of the state’s effort to comply. "After weeks of claiming they did nothing wrong, Gavin Newsom and California have been caught red-handed. Now that we’ve exposed their lies, 17,000 illegally issued trucking licenses are being revoked,” Duffy said. ”This is just the tip of iceberg. My team will continue to force California to prove they have removed every illegal immigrant from behind the wheel of semitrucks and school buses.” Newsom’s office said that every one of the drivers whose licenses are being revoked had valid work authorizations from the federal government. “Once again, the Sean ‘Road Rules’ Duffy fails to share the truth — spreading easily disproven falsehoods in a sad and desperate attempt to please his dear leader,” Newsom’s spokesman Brandon Richards said. The new rules for commercial driver’s licenses that Duffy announced in September make getting commercial driver’s licenses extremely hard for immigrants because only three specific classes of visa holders will be eligible. States will also have to verify an applicant’s immigration status in a federal database. These licenses will be valid for up to one year unless the applicant’s visa expires sooner than that. Under the new rules, only 10,000 of the 200,000 noncitizens who have commercial licenses would qualify for them, which would only be available to drivers who have an H-2a, H-2b or E-2 visa. H-2a is for temporary agricultural workers while H-2B is for temporary nonagricultural workers, and E-2 is for people who make substantial investments in a U.S. business. But the rules won’t be enforced retroactively, so those 190,000 drivers will be allowed to keep their commercial licenses at least until they come up for renewal. Those new requirements were not in place at the time these 17,000 licenses were issued. But these drivers were given notices that their licenses will expire in 60 days. Duffy said in September that investigators found that one quarter of the 145 licenses they reviewed in California shouldn’t have been issued. He cited four California licenses that remained valid after the driver’s work permit expired — sometimes years after. Newsom’s office said the state followed guidance it received from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security about issuing these licenses to noncitizens. Associated Press writer Sophie Austin contributed to this report from Sacramento, California.

Killer who threw dead teacher in bin gets 10 years jail

A killer who threw his housemate's body into a bin and refused to face his victim's family in court will spend a decade behind bars. English teacher Annette Brennan's cause of death could not be found, because her remains were so badly mutilated when she was found at a tip in Melbourne's north, in July 2024. The man she had let move into her home four weeks earlier, Stephen Fleming, had killed the 67-year-old woman, put her in a bin and swapped bins with a neighbour. He was sentenced to 10 years in prison on Thursday. He will need to serve just seven years before he can apply for release on parole. Fleming pleaded guilty to manslaughter weeks before his Victorian Supreme Court trial was due to begin. The 48-year-old refused to face his victim's family and friends in court at his pre-sentence hearing in September. His sentence was due to take place on October 29, but was adjourned to Thursday at 9.30am, however Fleming again refused to board the prison van and the matter was delayed to 11am. Fleming moved in with Ms Brennan on June 6, 2024, after she advertised on flatmates.com.au to fill spare rooms at her Coolaroo rental. Ms Brennan had told friends "he needs to go" as he had not paid rent and had been contacting their landlord behind her back. He killed her on July 1 and put her body in a green waste bin before cleaning the inside of their share house to destroy evidence and moving into another home about three days later. His DNA was found on the handles of the bin, which he had placed outside a neighbour's house for collection. Australian Associated Press

4.6 magnitude earthquake strikes Afghanistan

Kabul [Afghanistan], November 13 (ANI): An earthquake of magnitude 4.6 struck Afghanistan in the early hours of Thursday as reported by the National Center for Seismology (NCS). In a post on X, the NCS said that the earthquake occurred at 02:20 AM IST (Indian Standard Time). "EQ of M: 4.6, On: 13/11/2025 02:20:26 IST, Lat: 36.43 N, Long: 71.20 E, Depth: 140 Km, Location: Afghanistan." On November 4, a powerful earthquake rattled northern Afghanistan, killing at least 27 people and injuring 956 more, according to Sharafat Zaman Amar, the spokesperson for Taliban's Ministry of Public Health. The tremor also damaged one of the country's most beautiful mosques, CNN reported.Families were jolted awake in the early hours of Monday when the 6.3-magnitude quake struck near Mazar-i-Sharif, one of the most populated cities in the north of the country, at a shallow depth of 28 kilometers (17.4 miles), the United States Geological Survey said, as per CNN.Afghanistan has a history of powerful earthquakes, and the Hindu Kush Mountain range is a geologically active area where quakes occur every year, according to the Red Cross.Afghanistan sits on numerous fault lines between the Indian and the Eurasian tectonic plates, with a fault line also running directly through Herat. Its location on several active fault lines along the collision zone between the Indian and Eurasian tectonic plates makes it a seismically active region. These plates meet and collide, causing frequent seismic activity. As per the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (UNOCHA), Afghanistan remains highly vulnerable to natural disasters, including seasonal flooding, landslides and earthquakes. These frequent earthquakes in Afghanistan cause damage to vulnerable communities, which are already grappling with decades of conflict and underdevelopment and have left them with little resilience to cope with multiple simultaneous shocks, UNOCHA noted. Jameis Winston Drops 'Hamilton' Reference to Show Excitement for First Giants Start

Jameis Winston is ready for his Broadway moment. Not only is Winston starting his first game of the 2025 NFL season when the New York Giants take on the Green Bay Packers, but he's doing it in the "Greatest City in the World." "I want fans to know that I'm going to do my best. Obviously, I'm going to have fun, but I'm going to execute — have a surgical execution — and just play ball, man," Winston began when he told reporters what he wanted them to know about him before he broke into song. "This is something I've been doing since I've been four years old. Now, I get to do it in the greatest city in the world. I'm gonna be singing it with my son." "It's the greatest city in the world!" Winston sang again. "That's a 'Hamilton' reference, if y'all don't know." It seemed like Winston had been waiting to drop that famous reference to the Broadway show, "Hamilton." He got the opportunity to do so on Wednesday, with Jaxson Dart already being ruled out for Sunday's game after suffering a concussion in the Giants' Week 10 loss to the Chicago Bears. In one of his first moves as interim coach, Mike Kafka opted to place Winston ahead of Russell Wilson on the depth chart this week as well, giving Winston the opportunity to start after serving as the third-string quarterback for the first 10 weeks of the year. Winston hasn't started a game since Dec. 15th of last season for the Cleveland Browns. In fact, he started seven games for the Browns, throwing for 2,038 yards, 12 touchdowns and 12 interceptions as they went 2-5. As a quarterback, Winston embodies the term gunslinger, often taking risks with downfield throws. It's the perfect spot for him to start as the Giants (2-8) have nothing to lose at this point in the season. Despite New York's record, don't count out the Giants in Week 11 against the 5-3-1 Packers. His exuberance has proven to be contagious in the past and could inspire his teammates. In a way, it's similar to Alexander Hamilton, whose unbounded ambition motivated troops during the Revolutionary War. Winston is known for his pre-game speeches and undying love for the game of football. "I get to be the quarterback for the New York Football Giants," Winston said. Surely, Winston is not throwing away his shot. Want great stories delivered right to your inbox? Fired Florida HC Billy Napier Resurfaces With Surprising College Football Team

Billy Napier’s tenure as Florida Gators head coach ended abruptly one day after the tea’s 23-21 win over Mississippi State nearly a month ago. The writing had been on the wall for the former two-time Sun Belt Coach of the Year for weeks after UF went on a three-game losing streak following its season-opening win over Long Island University. Napier’s Florida tenure will likely best be remembered for unreached potential. He went 11-14 in his first two seasons, and seemed to have turned a small corner after an 8-5 year in 2024. And he had who many considered a future Heisman Trophy winner at quarterback in former five-star quarterback D.J. Lagway. But Napier’s inability to turn consensus top-20 recruiting classes into a perennial threat in the SEC led to his firing after a 3-4 start this season. Napier was a special guest at the Georgia Bulldogs’ practice earlier this week, according to On3, and the timing seems a little convenient given Georgia plays the Texas Longhorns on Saturday — a team that Napier beat earlier this season. Despite the optics of the situation, Georgia head coach Kirby Smart defended why he had Napier out to one of his practices. “Billy’s a good friend of mine, we coached together (at Alabama) for years, I’ve known him (a long time),” Smart said Wednesday, via On3. “People don’t understand relationships between coaches. So he dropped by, but that was really it.” Smart and Napier coached together under legendary former head coach Nick Saban at Alabama. Napier took a job as an analyst with the Crimson Tide in 2011 when Smart was defensive coordinator, and he returned in 2013 as a wide receivers coach, working with Smart until 2016 before leaving to take an offensive coordinator job with Arizona State in 2017.
