Job TypeRegularAccountant, I RAND is seeking an Accountant to join our Finance & Accounting Department. This is a newly created position, established in response to increased compliance and audit requirements. The role provides broad exposure across multiple areas of accounting and is ideal for someone looking to build a well‑rounded foundation.You’ll have the opportunity to work on financial reporting and analysis, general ledger maintenance, journal entry preparation, account reconciliations, and audit support. Because this position touches many aspects of our operations, it provides a unique chance to understand the “big picture” of how accounting supports RAND’s mission.Key ResponsibilitiesPrepare and post journal entries and perform general ledger account reconciliations. Analyze financial data to identify trends and variances; assist with management and financial reports. Support quarterly and annual financial statement preparation and roll forward schedules. Compile and prepare documentation for audit requests. Collaborate across functional areas within Finance to support continuous process improvements. Participate in projects and initiatives that enhance systems and reporting capabilities. QualificationsExperience and understanding of core accounting transactions required. Ability to adapt quickly, learn new tasks independently, and take initiative. Strong analytical, communication, and writing skills. Proficiency in MS Office Excel and comfort working with large data sets required. Aptitude to perform detailed work with a high degree of accuracy Experience with Workday ERP or other accounting systems a plus. Knowledge of or experience in non‑profit accounting strongly preferred. EducationMinimum BS/BA in Finance, Business or Accounting CPA / or working towards CPA, a plus ExperienceMinimum of 1 year related to Business/Accounting experience. 3 years of experience is preferred. Location: Santa Monica – Hybrid (onsite presence varies based on business needs)Salary Range: $64,400 - $96,100RAND considers a variety of factors when formulating an offer, including but not limited to, the specific role and associated responsibilities; a candidate’s work experience, education/training, skills, expertise; and internal equity. The salary range includes base pay plus RAND’s sabbatic pay (which provides additional compensation above base pay when vacation is taken).
