Job Description

Job SummaryAccounting Financial Manager - Local to WA DC. Assist in developing and executing the District’s overall financial plans. Manage the accounting close process, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP and District policies. Support annual financial audits and other audits by preparing necessary schedules and reconciliations. Develop, update, and improve accounting policies and procedures; evaluate internal controls and ensure compliance. Identify risk areas within accounting processes and recommend improvements. Maintain expert knowledge of Cash and Accounts Receivable accounting. Apply working knowledge in Grants, Bonds, Retirement Plans, and Unclaimed Property accounting. Utilize strong project management, analytical, strategic thinking, and problem-solving skills. Demonstrate strong leadership and effective written/verbal communication. Leverage advanced MS Office (Teams, Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and accounting/general ledger systems proficiency. Requires Bachelor’s in Business Administration, Accounting, or Finance; CPA or MBA preferred. Minimum five (5) years’ relevant financial and accounting experience.
