We're looking for an AI Engineer with deep modelling skills and strong engineering capabilities to lead the development of AI solutions from the ground up.This is not a prompt-engineering or API-wrapping role. You must understand AI academically and practically—able to look at a business problem, select the right modelling approach, train and validate models, and deploy them into production environments.In short: software engineer who builds AI models and AI systems, ready to ride the wave of an exciting transformation program and take their career to the next level. Why This Role Is ExceptionalWork directly with the CTO to influence strategy and co-shape our AI roadmap.Build from the ground up - shape our capability from day one in a greenfield environment.Enterprise impact - apply AI across software development, sales, operations, ERP, logistics, customer service, events, and more.Cutting-edge environment - experiment with modern agentic frameworks, cloud computing services, MCP, Microsoft Fabric, Azure and full-stack engineering.What You’ll DoAI Modelling & Applied IntelligenceAnalyse business problems and select the right modelling techniques (classical ML, ensemble models, deep learning, clustering, optimisation, probabilistic modelling, etc.).Architect the AI systems that builds tomorrow’s enterprise technology landscapeBuild, evaluate, tune, and validate models using real business data.Work with agentic AI patterns and protocols such as MCP and modern multi-agent frameworks.Engineering & DeploymentBuild services, APIs, and pipelines around your models.Deploy AI workloads into Azure with our software engineering team.Work closely with devs building our new cloud-first ERP (Azure, .NET, microservices).Access, prepare, and operationalise data in Microsoft Fabric (Lakehouse, Data Engineering, Warehousing, SQL Endpoint).Experimentation & InnovationRapidly prototype new ideas and technologies.Evaluate emerging AI tooling and frameworks for fit-for-purpose adoption.Contribute to internal capability building as our AI practice scales.What You BringDemonstrated experience architecting and delivering high-value solutions in areas such as platforms, automation, or AI-driven systems.Deep hands-on experience with modern cloud environments, microservices, and CI/CD automation.Strong academic foundation in machine learning, AI, modelling, statistics, optimisation, or related fields.Demonstrated experience training, tuning, and evaluating a variety of models—not just calling LLM APIs.Hands-on engineering skills across multiple stacks (Python, .NET, JS/TS, or similar).Ability to build APIs and integrate AI solutions with existing systems.Experience (or strong interest) in agentic AI, MCP, and modern agent frameworks.Ability to communicate complex AI decisions in simple, practical terms.Application ProcessApplications close on Thursday, 4 December 2025 at midnight.Send cover letter + resume to careers-vic-jd8914@harrythehirer.com.auTo help us understand your genuine thinking (and filter out AI-generated cover letters), please include the following in your cover letter:In 3–4 sentences, explain real business scenarios where k-means clustering is an appropriate model, and why.Briefly describe a situation where an ensemble model is a better choice than a single model.Tell us your hobbies and interests.What type of full work rights (Visa, Aus Resident or Citizenship) do you have?Applications missing these will not be considered.About Harry The HirerHarry the hirer sets the standard for creating innovative and unique solutions for the Major Events, Exhibition & Conference, Productions and Parties industry across Australia.
