About Our ClientOur client is a leading Japanese automotive electronics manufacturer with operations across the Asia-Pacific region.The company specializes in high-quality automotive parts and systems, serving major global car brands.They are recognized for their innovation, sustainable manufacturing standards, and collaborative cross-cultural work environment.Position OverviewThe Assistant General Manager – Procurement will lead the organization’s procurement and supplier management functions, ensuring efficiency, quality, and compliance throughout the supply chain. This position is ideal for candidates with strong automotive or electronic parts knowledge, solid leadership skills, and excellent communication in Japanese (JLPT N3 or higher) and English.Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop and implement a comprehensive purchasing and supply chain strategy aligned with company objectives, setting long-term KPIs and goals.Oversee and manage the Procurement Department, ensuring cost efficiency, quality, and timely delivery.Coordinate closely with Engineering, Production, Quality, and Finance teams to ensure smooth procurement operations.Manage delivery schedules, shipment tracking, inspection, and acceptance of materials and components.Supervise and maintain compliance with IATF and ISM systems related to purchasing.Prepare short- and long-term SCM strategies including budget management and planning.Evaluate supplier performance through audits and improvement programs, fostering strong partnerships.Negotiate with suppliers to achieve the best balance of cost, quality, and reliability.Ensure full compliance with company policies, procurement regulations, and quality standards.Lead and develop the procurement team to strengthen skills and drive performance excellence.Provide reports and insights on procurement status, costs, and performance to upper management and HQ.QualificationsBachelor’s degree or higher in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or a related field.15 years of progressive experience in Procurement / Purchasing, including at least 10 years in a managerial capacity.Strong knowledge in automotive or electronic parts procurement and supplier development.Familiarity with MRP/ERP, WMS, and SAP systems is an advantage.Excellent communication in Japanese (JLPT N3 or above) and English.Strategic thinker with strong leadership, problem-solving, and negotiation skills.High integrity, proactive attitude, and a “Can-do” mindset.Key HighlightsStrategic leadership role in a global automotive parts manufacturer.High exposure to Japanese HQ and international supply chain operations.Excellent opportunity for bilingual (Japanese-English) professionals with procurement leadership experience.
