Job Title: Shore-based Technical Support / Assistant Technical SuperintendentOverview:We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual to provide shore-based technical support and supervision for our fleet of DP2 MSVs / DSVs. The successful candidate will act as the primary liaison for vessel operations, maintenance, certification, and supply chain activities, ensuring safe, efficient and compliant vessel performance.Key Responsibilities:Vessel Technical Support & MaintenanceProvide shore-based technical support and communication with Chief Engineer / Technical Superintendent / Owner for all technical matters, ensuring prompt resolution of issues.Ensure the effective implementation of the fleet’s planned maintenance system (PMS) and inventory control system.Assist in planning, coordinating and executing project mobilisations, repairs, client audits, dry-dockings, and managing repair contractors in the most efficient manner.Liaise with Charterers, Flag State, Port State Control, Classification Societies and ensure all vessels’ certifications and surveys (class, flag, international and client-specific) are valid and up to date.Oversee that all items pertaining to health, safety, security and pollution-prevention are regularly inspected and in compliance with ISM/ISO/industry standards.Possess robust crisis-management skills to investigate and manage marine incidents and accidents; perform root-cause analyses and implement corrective/preventive actions.Conduct and assist vessel visits, audits and inspections from planning through implementation and follow-up, with the aim of supporting and enhancing operational efficiency.Ensure that all reporting requirements (incidents, technical developments, maintenance activities, repair progress, current operational status, docking budgets/spend patterns etc.) are executed in a timely manner.Purchasing & Supply Chain ManagementMonitor and assess requisition requests from vessels; evaluate quotations/bids and secure required approvals; place orders and ensure timely delivery of all required spares and stores.In conjunction with the purchasing officer, reconcile weekly and monthly trackers: purchase orders (POs), shipments, spare-parts consumption vs inventory; categorise expenses for budgeting and cost tracking.Manage the supply-chain for spare-parts: ensure optimal inventory levels, lead-times, categorise cost centres and identify cost-saving opportunities.Resource & Cost ManagementIdentify and report cost-saving opportunities; propose corrective actions as required.Review and verify incoming technical reports from vessels and identify areas requiring immediate attention; initiate corrective/preventive actions and verify effectiveness.Report non-conformities and monitor implementation of corrective and preventive actions to ensure effectiveness.Qualifications & SkillsBachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture or equivalent.Hold a Marine Engineer Class 1 or Class 2 Certificate of Competency AND:Minimum 3 years of sea-going experience (Chief Engineer/2nd Engineer) in the maritime industry, ORMinimum 5 years of shore-based experience as an Assistant/Junior Technical Superintendent with a ship-management/owner/operator company.Good knowledge and experience with TM Master or other Planned Maintenance System (PMS) software and MS Office tools.Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot marine technical issues and apply strong budget-control discipline.Experience with DP2 MSVs / DSVs is a must-have.Excellent organisational skills, a self-starter with strong initiative; able to work independently and as part of a team.Strong interpersonal and communication skills in English (written and verbal) to perform in an international environment.Must be reachable 24/7 and available as and when required for technical support.High sense of integrity and professionalism.
